After reading about your eviction, it really has made me really appreciate, again, having 10 acres and my home paid for without a mortgage. Life is so much better like this. Insulated against so many things out there thank the good Lord.
Good luck brother, work hard to pay for your own place, and not with a mortgage :+1:

I just paid my home off a year ago. Sure feels nice not having to write a check every month for over a thousand bucks.
Guess I played the game of life as well as anyone. Have my home 2 cars, a pickup truck a touring motorcycle, all paid for. I owe nothing to no one Only thing I worry about now is how high my electric bill is gonna get.

I do have a nice decked out fishing kayak. Lot of fun and you can take it where boats can’t go, if you can fight off the snakes.

Congrats! I did too much f*cking around in my youth to say I’m debt free. Now I’m playing catch up, but to be free is definitely the goal.

Shut the front door! How many properties is that? 5?? I paid $10,800 this year in taxes… On ONE house. Technically a 3 bedroom, 1 bath with family room and living room (for zoning, we really use the family room as 4th bedroom), 2 car garage on a little less than 3/4 acre.

I really gotta get outta this state huh?

Lol. I paid $214 on 40 acres a shed and a camper. Ok, thats not totally true. My girlfriend pays the taxes on the house in town. Roughly $1800.00. I’m happy to live in a lower cost area. But thats changing too. Prices a goin up and up. I just want to get back to the camper in the woods.

This is Los Angeles
In Town called Tujunga
This piece of dirt with the rock house is valued at almost 900 000 while the house needs to be torn down and mind u its only as big as the photo.
The behind that house is a boat but that all.u can fit behind the house. So what u see in the photo is the whole lot.

lol So this has turned into a ‘mine-is-bigger’ show-n-tell?
I got a 1/2acre, 1 vehicle, house, barn and 2 outbuildings. All paid for and taxes on everything run around $100/yr.
But, I’ve also got my best friend-the woman of my dreams, and together we’re living our dreams.

Been there, done that with all that other crap taxes would crush an average income and too much headache! Had 7 homes-all paid for, several trucks, van, 2cars-all paid for, boat/trailer-ditto paid for. About 30 yrs ago now, the taxes ate us up, and if not the taxes then the tenants with tearing stuff up faster than I could fix it! Owned 2 businesses and also 1 ‘dark’ biz-gorillagrow… lol
But now, in the condition both of us have gotten to be in…I’m DAMN glad it’s what it is!

lol Things and situations change, go up-n-down, come-n-go. But, memories and love/family are what’s important. I’ve learned that much in all these years … and ya damned sure can’t take it with you!

Yes taxes are never ending.
But love is forever.
I’m with the girl I had a crush in in high school but she was sent to a private high-school in Hawaii so when she returned to Town I had 3 sons which she baby sat.
Lol that was 27 yrs ago and now we have been together for 7 yrs
We kept 2 house vacant during covid.
An Remodeling them
The Texas house inside and we ripped up the whole back yard here in Norco to move our pool an redu to whole bbq patio scenery.
I coukd imagine owning 9 like my parents .
Fucn nite mare .
