When I had my cataract op here in Oklahoma last year, I elected for the āclose upā vision. Since I cant drive, and also tending/harvesting the plants. When I went to my eye doc she did the exam and afterwards told me I had my original 10/10 back! I can see my fingerprints (and tiny scars)lol for the first time in about 15 years. The surgeon my eye doc sent me to is the one doing hers also.
10/10 can you believe it! Just amazing, this morning its a pink sky so beautiful. I got 20/20 and its wonderful. Happy for you and for me, We got my wife the super duper 6K lenses and now with my results wondering why. I do follow your threads and learn new stuff all the while
As long as there are more success than failures Iām good.
lol The operation was right at 10 months ago now. Iām loving it. To go to a doctorās doctor is probably the best move I coulda done!
Now, lol I just gotta watch as the Age related Macular Degeneration take over! Canāt win for losing damn it!
Getting old certainly aināt for the weak or faint hearted. lol Itās a constant battleā¦
It was just under 2 years after Sponge left us that we decided to adopt together because even though we have our bird Bubbles, we were missing the land mammal companionship. Months of looking around and eventually we met, fell in love with a mucle-mass named Celia!
Sheās a Dachshund/Black Labrador/pitbull mutt rescue from Texas that has been through a lot.
Traveling 24 hours crated in a van she arrived in Canada from Texas;
She was to āwildā for all the fosters so she was housed with one of the folks in charge of the rescue;
She was adoptedā¦ TWICE before us, and RETURNED twice!
We were her third chance and the rescue folks were very nervous because of the trauma this little dog has endured over the months theyāve tried to find her a forever-home.
We werenāt nervous, even though the day we collected her she got scared and bit my hand as I put on her leash.
I didnāt notice the amount of blood running from my hand until I went to get the car keysā¦ which would explain the look on the transferees face as I took the hit and didnāt flinch. I still didnāt care about the physical damage to myself; this girl is a child refugee and a pair of giants just came and took her away from what she knows.
We needed to send updates to the shelter every few months and they were besides themselves. Knowing sheās beyond our traditional understanding of dog handling, we took classes with an amazing couple that train security dogs and performance dogs.
Celia was trained with and by a Belgian Malinois named āAtariā; who you can watch perform in season 2 of the television 2 āSeeā as he attacks some folks as a āwild dog/wolfā.
Bottom line; she listens and is obedient while still retaining her street-kid personality and her former shelter doesnāt recognize her!
Her jaw is so strong that she tears through most toys; but fell in love with Chuck-it balls and every night I come home from work she has a total freak out, pisses on the floor, and then runs to go get her ball to show me before accelerating her freak out into more zoomies + ball chewing while moaning adorably.
Her preferred way to play is to lay on her back and box and bite us as she rolls around in bliss; then promptly flips onto her belly and bounces around like a deer; full on deer hops in all directions! We die with the cute.
Here she is being dapper:
Here is her 8-pack that brings all the boys to her yard:
Here is her being ridiculous:
And here is her being redonkulous:
oh geez I have Macular Degeneration in one eye, see a retina specialis, its staying dry and quiet, taking AREDS vitamins. I saw a picture of it and it really freaked me out
Who makes these crosses? Lab / pit is common, but when little dogs and big dogs get crosses, man I donāt wanna know how that happens if it aint artificial!
2 years is far to long to not hear a collar jingle here. At most Iāve been 3 months without a pup. But Iāve never had a pup 17 yrs either, my guys live 10-13 on avgā¦
Good on you for putting in the effort for this poor girl!
Thanks @Nagel420 .
We knew we needed expert advice and oh boy did we luck out with the trainers. Husband and wife with their shit so together they each had their or PS4ās to make sure they didnāt fight
On the topic of me older pupper; heres a pic of Sponge I found when he was about 11 years old:
I grew up in a ārescueā household. My mom had a small grooming/boarding business for many decades. Sheād take in unwanted or abandoned dogs in a heartbeat. i grew up learning from her, and I guess I inherited it too lol.
I remember my first boy, he actually lived to be over 21, blind as a bat the last 7-8 yrs, but would follow the ball around the house, maneuvering around all the furniture. Go up the stairs on his own, but sit at the top and howl till someone came and brought him down. Loved that dog and cried lied a baby when he finally left me.
All my dogs over the years have always been āhouse dogsā no matter how big! Spoiled rotten too!!
Absolutely no idea what breed he was lol Best we could figure was probably more like heinz 57
Howdy yāall
