Chat room (let's chat!) šŸ’¬ (Part 2)

Hi, well you need to have a medical reason for the exemption. I have macular degeneration which is stable so all good. They stress protecting your eyes by wearing sunglasses etc. outdoors, especially for us who have blue eyes that let more light in. I just had cataract surgery which is very common as we age, the cataracts were for sure impairing my vision. As things go, the best idea is to have an eye exam, by an opthalmologist, a medical doctor. Like you say, we only get one pair of eyes, its a no brainer

If itā€™s a no brainer, @Slick1 is the perfect man for the job.

This is why I donā€™t drink coffee. :stuck_out_tongue: What Iā€™m drinking looks more like swamp juiceā€¦

Oh yeah @Nagel420 Cormoran doesnā€™t drink coffee.

Damn I just google searched a few terms expecting a hilarious picture to symbolize a man who doesnā€™t drink coffee. Lets just say that google no longer has a sense of humor. Do yourself a favor I wish I had done myself and do not type in the keywords ā€œsissy boyā€. Looks like the meaning has changed a whole lotā€¦

Call me what you will, call me Ishmaelā€¦

So, to totally change the subject, I recently tried popping a few seeds with a new technique, using rooting cubes in a prop tray. After two days, hereā€™s the first sign of growth:

It looks like this is the taproot coming up out of the rooting cube rather than growing down through it. Wondering if I should risk disturbing the seedling to move it. If I leave it, will it just figure it out on its own? Thereā€™s a bit of water in the tray beneath the rooting cubes, which in theory it should be reaching towards.

I would think the light would kill it after too long. Iā€™d probably dig out a nice sized chunk and flip it.

oh sure, NOW ya wanna talk about weed in the chat thread. When we get yelled at for chatting in the weed threads. ay yai yaiā€¦

You got Australian seeds broā€¦ They woulda grown down on the other side of the worldā€¦

But since youā€™ve got the tail. Hmmā€¦ not only does the tail need to go down, the coty leaves need to go up. Can it pull itself upright, if that tap root did a u-turn and buried itself, or is the seed too deep in the cube?

The trayā€™s covered, at 80F and quite humid; I just stuck my phone in to take a picture. I wouldnā€™t think it would die that quickly, itā€™s as dark as my usual paper towel germ method. Just not sure whatā€™ll happen as it keeps growing, like Nagel said. The seed was only down about an inch in the cube, I widened the hole with a toothpick so I could actually fit the seed in. No idea if it can pull itself upright or not, if I let it go in the short-term itā€™ll be ok. In the long-term, maybe not so much once it comes time to move them to the new tent.
