In my experience, no. As long as you dont add any organic amendments to it, it is fairly inert.
Nope, I had had my one since January outdoors with no airtight lid, still fine a bit moist, but no traces or any mold nor mycelia
Nute notesā¦unverified.
N | Excess nitrogen, causes the ratios to shift making Calcium & Potassium unavailable |
---|---|
P | Excess Phosphorus, can lock out important micro-elements, Zinc, copper & Iron |
K | Excess Potassium, will affect how the plant consumes Calcium & Magnesium |
Ca | Excess Calcium, reduced availability to Nitrogen, Magnesium, Boron & Phosphorus |
Mg | Excess Magnesium, locks out Calcium & Potassium leads to complete Micro lockout |
FE | Excess Iron, completely restricts Phosphorus and completely locks out Manganese |
Mn | Excess Manganese, quite rare in excess, but locks out Calcium, Copper, Zinc & Iron |
Cu | Excess Copper, antagonises Iron, Manganese & Phosphorus |
Zn | Excess Zinc, antagonises Phosphorus, Copper & Iron |
Mb | Excess Molybdenum, severe Copper deficiency, further locking out Iron & Zinc |
Na | Excess Sodium can create lots of problems limiting Potassium |
B | Excess Boron, Locks out Calcium & Potassium |
S | Excess Sulfur, quite rare, limits Nitrogen, Magnesium, Phosphorus & Calciu |
Coco Cation Crap
"The cation exchange sites in coco naturally come loaded with sodium (Na) and potassium (K) cations. However, the sites have a weak hold on the Na and K cations. In the presence of calcium (Ca) or magnesium (Mg), the sites will release their Na or K cations and lock onto the Ca or Mg. Once the cation exchange sites in coco have locked on to Ca or Mg, they are ābufferedā and stay stable.
The cation exchange sites in unbuffered coco can pull nearly all the Ca and Mg out of a nutrient solution. If you try to grow cannabis plants in unbuffered coco, they will experience Ca deficiency. This is tough to correct while plants are growing because Cal Mag supplements have a strong impact on electrical conductivity (EC). As a result, the total dose of CalMag that you can provide is limited, even though it all may be going to the coco and none to the plant."

Calc nute label percentages to PPM.
Med-Tek has some great articles for coco growers. I really like that site.

Pop quiz: what are the approximate NPK ratios for each of the above?
Not sure. Donāt we need to know the actual NPK percentages to find the ratios? Maybe they are in there, but I donāt know how to figure out percentages without looking at the box or bag, or bottle, they come in.
This is how I know to do it.
Using this calculator, entered whatever values needed in yellow on left for PPM on right to match feed chart PPM above.
Full Bloom NPK ratio
1 - 1.15 - 2.33
I always got confused when I would try to mess with those calculators, but that seems simple enough. Iāll have to play around with it, and get a better understanding of it.
Now are those NPK ppm values the numbers Iād be aiming for when trying to mix my own salts?
Thatās what Iām trying to learn.
What ratios to run, when, and for how long.
No experience with creating nute mix with salts.
So far, I have been able to combine bagged products and a few raw salts to achieve most NPK ratios.
Iām learning along with you. Mind if I ask what products your using right now? I canāt mix and match crap with the maxi series. The K is to high in both the veg and the bloom, the best I can come up with like a 1-1-3ish ratio for late flower. I have a couple greenway biotech products in the cart Iāll prob grab tonight so I can start experimenting.
Hereās a partial list of stuff in my nutrient tackle box.
ML for liquids, or Grams for powders. Per gallon (per 3.785 leeters. liters. litres.)
Here I have entered ā1ā for everything to show the single ml/gr breakdown.
The Jacks bagged (in pink) products contain micros.
Offer still good if you want copies of my spreadsheets. That way you can do what-ifās on your own.
Some of these are dups of whatās in the spreadsheetā¦
Bleeding edge of my knowledgeā¦Never used these yet. Pre-mixed Micros.
Finallyā¦hereās my bleeding edge recipe using the TM-7 for micros, salts for everything else.
This formula is a near copy of the bagged Jacks 10-30-20 @ 5 grams per gallon. (far right column) I simply fiddle effed around with the numbers in yellow for each until the PPM totals were close to matching up with Jacks.
The EC (856ppm .500) is what it is because I was matching Jacks numbers for 5 gallons.
(I suspect true purist salt guys may scoff at using pre-mixed micros. Iāve never used them either, so I dunno.)
Let me know what you are buying from Greenway, Iāll deconstruct and stuff it into my spreadsheet to see PPM values, compare, and for what-ifāing.
