Hey, everybody!
Hope y’all are well and keepin’ plenty warm. The weather here just hit too-damn-cold for the first stretch of more than a day or two, and it seems like winter is finally catching up with the calendar. No snow yet, but gonna’ be a long one.
… now, that’s out there, and we’re in here, with four happy plants and plenty of good smoke. Let’s take a look in the garden for the week, eh?
This week saw an overall easy build up, as flowering has really hit it hard. We’re starting to see some solid stacking and density in the canopy. All four plants have taken well to the lolipopping and under-screen defoliation they received last week. We’re clear of the stretch and can still see the tops of our plants, so we’re pretty damned well-off in our position compared to the first two grows. Trichome production is in full swing!
ScrOGging has really given a much clearer idea of how much “steering” these girls can take. It’s definitely helped get us over the hurdles of being too worried about results to really get in there.
Through the work week, and into my week/end, we have been largely hands-off, as planned, except for taking the occasional crunchy looking leaf or two in a day, or lightly leaf-tucking here and there.
This week’s feed/res change was a bit more complicated than we had planned, as we thought and mulled it more. By the end of the week, the solution level was pretty damn low, probably the biggest dry-back of this crop. The plants have been guzzling solution, and it was getting fairly concentrated as a result (nearly 1580ppm, though with stable pH). So, we considered starting with about 5 and a half or 6 more gallons more still, while keeping the calculations for the nutrients the same for 35 gallons. This has us starting the week at ~1280 PPM or ~2.56 EC and should allow us to add either tap water or small-batch solution midweek if we need to. Tap water this week was cold as hell at 46 * F, but the pumps and lights warmed it up to a respectable mid-fifties after a short while.
It feels good to take a more practiced hand to the feed, and we still managed it in near record time. @JustTieflingThings runs a tight pit crew for these oil changes, I’ll tell ya. Hahaha
The smells have mixed into quite a slap in the face when the tent is opened, though it’s still easy to pick out notes of both the musky, savory NB and the sweet, spiced Christmas baked-goods of the DSCBD30:1. The latter have started to really stack the bud sites on all the upper branches wonderfully. The NB are both not far behind, with NB #FD stacking a bit on her taller colas, and NB #QT really coming up hard from behind, short, but dense and spread enough that even sites under the netting are keeping up quite well. We may yet need some LST to keep her out of any shade from DSCBD30:1 #LG but, with the big leaf-strip only two weeks off, it should hold out well.
The lights were kept at the same distance, as we seem to be done stretching, though we did dial it up about 5% to hit the gas pedal a bit more and net us a center-tent DLI of ~38.5 or ~1000 PPFD. The plants have been grateful for the extra heat during their day cycles.
Feeling better everyday about pulling all four plants out of that tent come harvest, which would be a first. We have lost one plant after flip in each grow so far for one reason or another.
BAREBONES STATS
- 83 Days from seed, ~32 Days of vegetation , 28 Days of Flowering
- Hands off the plants this week! All are recovering from under-carriage clean up very well.
- Light intensity dialed up slightly again. Distance maintained. **~29" from the canopy, ~38.5 DLI and ~1000 PPFD at center tent.
- See above for details, currently being actively maintained. post-feed pH 6.0 (targeting 5.8 by lights out), 56.9 * F, and 1280 PPM or 2.56 EC.
- Average of 72.3 * F, 57% RH, and 0.953 kPa VPD
In other news, @JustTieflingThings made a damn fine first stab at an infused, full-spectrum salve. Such things are a staple in her medication, and a nice thing for me to have around, too. Using 10 grams of dried bud and trim, and a few grams of ABV, she was able to whip up a very effective replacement for the expensive, hard to track down, and largely much less effective sh!t she had been getting from dispos and head-shops. I’m so proud of her for taking such an important thing into her own hands, and we have notes to improve on this run for next time. …like MUCH more essential oil.
She netted 4 1/2 “quarter” jars of the stuff! We’ll have plenty to share with family this holiday, and look forward to making more. In the background of that shot is our humble seed vault, with all the mounting decisions and priorities it now holds. Hahaha
Next tec to cover for us will probably be FECO, and then gummis. By that point, we will have completely cut dispos out, and damned if I ain’t looking forward to that day.
If you haven’t for whatever reason, go check out the POTY thread, now with mini-auctions courtesy of MANY awesome OG donors, and headed up by @Heliosphear and @Rhai88 . Get something great on the cheap, win something, or support everyone’s favorite site, and show some love.

As always, dear readers, thank you! for all the encouragement, advice, stories, any and all questions, constructive criticism, or feedback in general. Would we be doing this anyway? Hell yes we would. But it certainly wouldn’t be as much fun, or nearly as easy to overgrow the hurdles that come up. Thanks again and always, and good luck in all, to all.
Stay up!
