No its not malted

I don’t think it would hurt anything putting that much on its probably overkill more than anything @ReikoX what’s your thoughts?

It will be malted when I germinate it. Im soaking the rye for germination…

The whole malting process is something that’s done under control temperature and moisture level checks while slow drying the grain to eventually going to brew houses .

Yeah @tinytuttle.

I believe it’s just rye. It should sprout just fine.

OK, I missed your reply Corey.

Double edit: I missed the whole conversation.

I have no doubt it will sprout but 25 lbs is a butt load! 1/2 to 1lb would be more dose appropriate . @ Corey are you planning on using the 25 lbs all It once or will you dry it and use it as you go?

Thanks @TerpSneeze! Lots of doing there. I really enjoy it though. I started prepping my patch 6 months in advance with several hundred pound’s of composted sheep/straw manure and composted cow manure with blood/bone meal. I also went out with a rake and a couple garbage bags and collected leaves and every thing under them at a near by timber slapped that on there for fungi and that worked btw. I had bunches of small mushrooms growing around my plants just large clusters of them. Threw in some lime and cracked oyster shells and let it cook on a tarp for a couple months before spreading it on my spot. My spot is 300 square feet and the branches are growing outta that range easy.
Then @badger, @tinytuttle, @Gpaw,@gramps,and help from many other very talented brilliant overgrowers have been helping me with growing out my plants with so much more than I thought all this could be. I’m kinda flabbergasted on how much more you can improve even when you think u got it down just so much more u can learn u know. This site has definitely advanced my growing level. I bet some of the best growers in the world of indoor and outdoor cultivation are on this site easy… I’m always great full for the knowledge and sincere help on here. This is honestly the only grow site I am a proud member of!!!

Well I started soaking about 20 pounds of it and I’ll split that between two plants. So say ten pounds a piece. I don’t really know how to dose a plant @tinytuttle. I’m just going by experience and experimentation. My gut is telling me that 10 pounds would be OK for the size of the plants. I’m not gonna worry to much about nutrient lockout or anything if that’s even possible with this type of organics because they got deep roots and I water them well every three days

Yea most videos Iv seen for like 10 gallons of drench tea they use about a cup of grain is all and sometimes like 1/2 cup for like alfalfa … are you blending and adding to water?

O cool. So I should have plenty. I plan on spreading my grain on a wet towel or two after I think it’s fully saturated with water which it prolly is by now and covering it with more wet towel. Hopefully in 4 to 7 days it will germ. I want to put it all on at once. @Badger mentioned going straight to a blender but I’m not sure if drying it out first does anything or what I gotta research that. I’ll prolly dry it put it in a bucket smash it with a 4x4 add water smash again and gradually add to the plants with the garden hose on low. What do u think?

(Edit)- forgot to mention I’m soaking the grain in pots of water

Also thinking of using compost tea with some molasses, liquid fish, and liquid kelp to smash up the grain with. Should be a pretty good jolt on the old plants

I put it in a jar with a strainer on top. Wet it down and strain the excess off twice a day.

Hey @Badger. What excess are you draining?

I couldn’t agree more my friend, this is a very supportive and knowledge rich community we are building together everyday, I too am proud to be involved in any capacity I can as it provides some much to me. The hard work always shows, you have the right attitude and certainly the chops to round it out. I am following along, miss growing big sticks in the sun so I will continue to live vicariously you and the other talented sun growers here. Excellent work my friend, thanks for the reply!

I’ll say 3 day’s

That’s the final step other than curing possibly of malting when ya stop the process of growing by drying Drying and racking by turning the grain over repeatedly

Thanks for that @Tinytuttle. I was wondering about that. I’m gonna lay the grain out today and snap some pics after it germs and how I plan on doing the whole process

Have ya ever seen the malting rooms at coors Or a Budweiser plant ? Probably 50-75’ long and 100’ long 6 inches deep their floors blow warm air up through the bed and it get turned pretty impressive!
