Coronavirus Facts and Fiction - January - May 2020 [Closed]

Good question. The reason I saved it was the sharp stop off of it all since Rona. The over reporting of deaths is kinda troublesome. There are folks out there literally afraid to go outside, that much anxiety isn’t health

Lol, Alberta’s numbers yesterday just made me laugh…

So we’re currently running a 2% death rate… Confirmed cases to covid deaths. So the high end of that probable projection… Is a 0.38% death rate?

So how the hell are they generating these numbers? Sure it’s all guesstimates - but if we’re 2% now, trends not going to change much - how are we going to get 1/5th less as this gets worse?

Notice one thing about all those flattened curves? It prolongs it greatly.

Oh, there’s no doubt… The scientists I listen to are saying we’re in status quo until December+ just based on hospital capacity & an assumed no re-infection issue - which I was just reading a study saying they’re showing little maintained antibodies after recovery…

I’ll quote myself:

From the news reporting, the mother had presumptive COVID-19 on admission leading to a premature birth. That was the diagnosis and the end-result was death of the newborn [1]. E.g. COVID-19 was the contributing factor.

So, if the media reporting is accurate, yes.

An interesting idea but a strong correlation would need more background along with the supporting data to make an assertion.

Consider another option, community spread pneumonia. What else may have changed recently to cause a similar dip?

… also a stab at correlation / causation.

Yes, but the prognosis for survival improves significantly. Also, the area under the curves may be different.

Cuz people like to influence Others w some false reality. I dont get it.

You dont know anyone who works in heathcare?? Its not good.
Nurses here have resorted to half or full face respirators w p100 cartridges due to lack of ppe. Hospitals are now starting to have outbreaks among workers. They are asking retired healthcare workers to come back.
Patients are being misdiagnosed (or have mild symptoms) and mixed w other populations of patients the hospitals.
Its not good

But we fact that there’s a growing body of evidence to suggest that many people just can’t build up an immunity to this drug doesn’t bode well for prospects of a universally effective vaccine.

Pet peeve of mine. Inability of “journalists” to proof-read their articles these days. I see it multiple times per day.

Yeah!
It’s wide spread too.
For some reason when I reread my posts before posting, I never catch all the errors and don’t see them before I post.
Thankfully there is the edit button.

Saying it’s a NY hospital and it isn’t.

Don’t think the numbers will be higher than influenza a and b combined.

As in any disease/virus it always takes the weak.
Pre existing conditions.

I’ll believe it first hand when I actually see it.
