Coronavirus Facts and Fiction - January - May 2020 [Closed]

There’s plenty of things they can accomplish with something like this. Everyone is so busy looking at the right hand, they don’t pay attention to what the left hand is up to.

Try telling that to the 7% that don’t survive! (If they could listen)!!!

Ya but its the cold hard truth.

Its all actually pretty simple in the end when you put it all together.

Ill keep saying thus over and over now.
The reason its worse than the flu is because there is no vaccine and the incubation period is 3-14 days. Those factors make it spread very fast and it is almost impossible for people with pre existing health issues to avoid the virus.
See its similar to the flu in ways tho. Like the actual death rate will in the long run be much less. And when we get a vaccine itwill be very minimal.
The ppl still infected have no outcome yet. And the actual cases is estimated to be a lot higher. (Ppl who dont get it bad enough to get treatment)
In the end (5-10yrs from now) the numbers will be just like the flu.

Now I dont care who you are but thats all based on cold hard numbers. And of course assuming that the virus doesnt mutate into some crazy head exploding disease.

You obviously believe these these diversions from reality There are relatively few that happen to agree with you, and the numbers of people doubting the truth shrink daily; as the real FACTS continue to emerge.

The latest curve in the USA is following precisely that of Italy, but a few weeks behind.

Hey everyone.
Not coming on here to start shit. Just spread some information. I have a good friend who works in this field (government employed science). I trust this person. I was in the military with them for many years.
Talking last night.
This next week the CDC will have more official numbers for the infected. The number of infected will be very high (over 20000). The CDC is expecting this and I was told to tell people “don’t panic, we were expecting high numbers”. They said if you follow the infection graph for other countries, our “line” will shoot through the roof in less than a week.

Many of us will be on a lock down of some type within two weeks. I have seen the jokes about toilet
paper online. Seriously, GET WHAT YOU NEED FOR AT LEAST 2-3 WEEKS! Think about the little things, DOG FOOD, MEDICATION, NON PERISHABLE FOODS.

If you can stay home. DO THIS. Not because you will get sick and die. But because we cannot put this large of a burden on the US medical system. There are not enough ventilators in the US for all the sick people. Doctor’s will have to choose who lives. We cannot all get sick at once!
Thanks,
Tommy

Oh and the other issue is the strain on healthcare systems. Again, once we get a vaccine we will get releif

My friend believes that a vaccine is a long way away. It will most likely stop because so many people get the virus and become immune. Eventually the numbers will shift the other direction and go down.

in italy a top doctor is already calling for treating young people with better survival rate

  • Cases in Italy jumped in the last 24 hours by 196 to 827 as intensive care units face acute shortage of beds
  • As a result medics should stop treating elderly and focus on those with better survival chances, doctors warn
  • A top Italian doctor said intensive care wards should place an age limit on beds as a way of prioritising medical resources

that and there are no antiviral medications specific to COVID-19. but i agree there’s probably many unreported cases of people who develop very mild symptoms and recover. If you’re relatively healthy and have no existing respiratory problems you should be fine. apparently non-smokers are faring better too

Joe (81) was the oldest trip participant but he has weathered COVID-19 better than most, with nothing worse than nasal congestion. He hasn’t had a fever at all, just a cough, which I heard occasionally during our phone discussions

This has really gotten dicey!

I wouldnt hold your breath on a vaccine. Sars still does not have one. Something to do with ADE makes this novel coronavirus very difficult to vaccinate against. Just things I have read

Yep. I went last night and they were cleared out.

I talked with a store employee and he said they were getting around 6 pallets (this was at a Vons) a night. It is not that they are “out” but rather that just everyone is freaking out and hoarding it lol.

He said it usually sells out about noon at that store.

Everyone’s rights being suspended and people are cheering and asking for more. This is getting crazy. Those that say the flu isn’t bad because there is a vaccine don’t realize those vaccines are useless. The flu is a set replicating virus that does so very sloppily so that vaccine you get has about a 90% chance of not doing a dammed thing for you. My sister-in-law is a nurse at the biggest hospital in my town and refuses those vaccines regularly because they flat out don’t work most of the time so why inject heavy metals into your blood for nothing. This was man made for population control, both in number and action. Think about it a virus that affects the old and mainly men have it worse what better way to get rid of the burden on social services than to get rid of the old folks. Everyone is playing right into what they want

I read an interesting study that talked about the statistics of the virus. Mainly those in China.

Most of the fatalities are elderly people as most of us know, and as you mention a great deal of those are men. They are thinking there is a direct correlation with a majority of these elderly Chinese men being smokers. Women do not smoke cigarettes nearly as much as men do in China to where that could be directly related.

Thought that was interesting and it made sense to me when you look at the numbers.

If this were really about population control, it’d make much more sense to make the virus kill women instead of men. Viruses have always affected the elderly moreso than younger healthy people, nothing new here.

This is a decent and comprehensive article explaining why reacting quickly and limiting exposure across the community makes a difference:

Politicians, Community Leaders and Business Leaders: What Should You Do and When?

It’s a fairly long read but it’s worth it to understand what could happen if we do nothing versus taking action towards reducing exposure.

There is a difficult balancing equation to consider.

Am I the only one that feels all warm and fuzzy the more I hear world leaders are catching it? Somthing satisfying knowing it’s not just us worker peasants

I do get a sick sense of satisfaction when I hear about leaders getting it who were making light of the problem or using it for political opportunism while they were supposed to be protecting us.

I don’t know what they were thinking… That this would all just blow over is not a realistic expectation, given what the experts were saying. Stupid and dangerous imo. Good riddance. But I guess believing science is optional these days.
