Debunking The CalMag Myth

Cheers shag, I’m growing in recycled potting mix so I don’t want any build-up

I also recycle my soil.
Mag won’t typically build up too fast but one should be aware it can build up.
I like to do magnesium nitrate foliar sprays once a week in veg.
But I also try to use a lot of gypsum.
If it is close to flower, or I feel I have enough N already I will use Mag sulfate AKA Epsom.
If per chance I do need a lot of mag due to using a bunch of calcium at least it is not messing with the soil chemistry.

Also FYI
If you are not feeding organically, meaning you use powder or bottled fertilizer “K” is usually the first element to build up in recycled soil/medium.

I feed canna bio flores but do add small amounts of calnit if the plants pale

This is much like in the airguns world, there is always someone who don’t understand the dynamics behind it and asks what’s the best pellet for my rifle model?

Dude, the barrel chooses the right pellet, it isn’t a user choice.

Here is the same, there is always the best man who tested and have done things in his house with his ingredients, my tap water composition is different from that guru, my soil is different.

How can you tell about ca excess if you don’t know what’s going on the other people garden?

I have been advising some to try it, I was getting yellow leaves, bad health plants and by adding calmag it went away, worked for me ever since.

So for me it isn’t a myth, is a life saver.

I don’t say that by increasing the levels of other nutrients you can’t do the same, but for a beginner is the easy way.

Then with time you adjust and adapt your soil and water to the plants reaction but that comes with time to every single one of us.

As i know Calmag good for PHup and ion exchange processes in coco coir substrate, read somewhere recomendation watering with calmag on the start flowering, when roots start produce more acid.

I do not disagree with you.

That fact may be true, but Cal/Mag is definitely not the best option.
What happens when you have too much MAG already but you have a calcium deficiency.
Should you then add more Cal/mag and make things worse?
I think you hit the nail on the head with the original quote.
Cal/mag is for beginners.
