Dendro's Outdoor Grow 2022

This relaxing rainy day is giving me alot of technical difficulties, just gonna give it one more shot today. All is well though, Hope yall are having a good one too!

Don Johnson was looking the way Daddy likes this morning.

Snowfire is on top of the world. Starting to finally bud up too, which is nice.

And even Ginger is looking like she’ll give us something, eventually. Maybe in a month or two. Leaving her alone for now as seems sensitive. She needs less love than I can give.

Have a good one! :v::heart:

Those are looking awesome man! Great to see an update with bud pics.

Have you fed them? Looking healthy. Hope the PM went the way of the dodo bird, the same place I hope my shitterpillars went: EXTINCT

My guess is that lil’ Ginger produces the tastiest buds of the batch. Heard it here first

Thank you man! I read your fantastic ramblings yet zoomed in on your impressively organized charts and graphs while blazing this morning and as ya probably know, it is quite addictive, the rambling that is…I definitely have a rambling addiction for real as well, but my charts and graphs look more like a convicts commissary list, so I tend to leave those at the door, but I do need to step my game up in the records keeping department. As you pointed out, these journals help alot but its so very public that it can be hard, for me at least, to stay umm, focused… the many pros definitely outway the few if any cons, now that Im gettin alittle more comfortable around here! I think its awesome that you did your predictions and research all pre-grow, I will probably attempt sometime soon. Im always getting into trouble trying to wing it. My next indoor grow will be more along those lines. All pre-planned everything. Less laziness. I would really love a nice simple grow again, is there ever is a way we can go back?! Im gonna try at least, I have all new soil, I usually recycle but its time for a fresh start for me so yeah, all new soil, sterilized tent, low body count with the recent beans(i know, that could end up being my problem but im ready to take that risk), so really looking forward to it. I take it thats how its usually done but I cant help getting in my own way. I gotta keep it spicy for some reason.
For now, yes! I am so very relieved that all the ladies here have started full flower mode, stretch is finally over, I was first thrown off as the mothers of the DJ and the SF were mostly grown inside and even though I usually flip my indoor schedule slowly over time(about two to three weeks), the much more sudden switch is so different than the very slow outdoor change of season. I feel that all the light deps I have done throughout the years have just added to my seemingly unsteady state of connection and disconnection with the plants. This season has been both my best and worst season yet, as they all are in some way.
But lets see, a little recap of this years ups and downs…The transition into spring had me grinding my gears on how to pull off some legit free seed. I only have a small tent indoors and I never want to pollinate indoors as the pollen just never seems to go away so I chose to do individual branches outdoors with a single pollen sac that would be plucked on a calm day, just as the sacks were ready to burst. I straight up lucked out and had one beautiful male(3) in flower at a time over a period of a few months so I feel very solid about the branches that were pollinated as not much else was ever found, but those few beans that were found were stored separately from the seeds originally pollinated on those single branches. Only one male at a time but to multiple females, early outdoor, is whats working best for me and I plan on doing another round next spring but for now, its time to hopefully harvest and then begin to go through all those simple first time chucks just to find what I want to continue with. Going to take my mutha fnnn time. As far as how some of my many good and bad learning experiences in general went this season…First I over fed alot of pots early on this year but @ReikoX and his LITFA got us through, eventually. I had forgot about the shit ton of ammendments I so ‘wisely’ thought ahead to mix in, things were going great, but I thought hey, “I know what Im doing”, I can feed these little monsters a fat top dress of some organic mixed dry ferts and boy was I wrong. Had to run out and grab yet another bottle from Reiko and bam! Babys back on track. As for the outdoor, yes, they have been fed through the entire season, but I did let the overfeeding of the pots hold me back from really giving these in-ground gals what they wanted(their big, though they could have been real monsters!), but many thanks to your ongoing gentle encouragement as well as your thread and pics(and oh so many more threads and good supportive people out there, yall known who ya are, because as they say, the proof is in the pudding, I had to set down that bottle of the LITFA and pick up a bag of F. T. B.(Feed! That B!tch!) and so far so good! Knowing the difference of which bottle to use, when, and how to use it has been my biggest problem as of this season especially. BUT…after some insane amounts of reading, introspection, listening to much friendly advice, (learning first hand that milk sprays are AMAZING for whatever problems the ginger was having(it not only helped with the pm? but ALL the girls actually like it and it CAN be safely used even in mid flower is my unprofessional opinion), but it was this here craziness that helped feed and strengthen the girls abit more… I had went into the lab(out back, behind the shed) and worked up a fermented leaf mold and citrus/melon rind brew, like it was actually alcoholic, no, I did not drink any myself, but I left it out long enough for enough of the alcohol to evaporate and then cut that in half, tested it on some peppers(ive also been crushing up dried peppers from the garden and dusting it over the beds for more pest control, but more research to go on that one, looks promising, gonna make a foliar spray by just soaking some peppers in the bottle and see how that helps with pests) and what I saw had me watering that nasty crap, the fermented sludge, around the very outsides of the beds to test further, and finally just soaking both beds, then even more of my rotted wood mulch went on top with a tad bit of bone meal mixed in, the usual kelp extract and myco product soaked into the fresh mulch and Id say the ladies and I are in a pretty nice place today. They are practically giving me high fives and down lows, even telling their friends about me haha…yeah bro, we’ve had a turn around on the farm over the last few weeks for sure. Thank You and Everyone here so very much for riding with me and my lunacy for so long right out of the blue and letting me tag along with you all as well. What an Awesome place this is! I know it ain’t over, it never is for the full time gardener, and thankfully the all the true OGs of OG are always willing to lend a hand when any of us get stuck or turned around. What goes up, must come down and what goes down will eventually go back up, one way or another. Diggin the Full Circle of Life but speaking of that circle, I now must go, as we have a possible medical emergency in the Fam, I’ll keep ya posted as I just dont known whats up yet, Much Love to you and the Entire OG Family, especially any lurkers out here, I know how it is but we just got to jump in at some point(yet know when to focus on the more important parts of life).
Have a great one! Enjoy that vacay, sending blessings and well wishes to you, your Fam, and of course your sexy ass ladies while your gone(100% know what that feels like), I enjoyed your detailed write up on your thread(if ya haven’t already, yall make sure to check in on Fields lush monster grow!), always inspiring and encouraging me brother, will get back with you and the good folks here soon!

On that serious note, I really appreciate any prayers and good vibrations yall can send our way as well, I am worried about my Everything. She is having some slight facial numbness, so taking her to the hospital right the fuck now, she just got out the shower and we’re off…Just staying calm for now but damn well doing something about it too!

:v: n  to ALL!

Glad she’s all good, man!

Charts and graphs work for me because I’m used to doing things that way. Certainly not necessary. I do like planning things though, that makes the majority of the hobby for me. And pre-planning just helps with one part of it, plants/nature do their own thing often in disharmony with my plans. I wanted to spray BT again today but it’s going to rain Tuesday. May do it anyway because if the eggs hatch I want to know they are getting some tasty BT as soon as they start eating. It’s often comical to me how little planning seems to help sometimes, but at least I know what I’m growing and when to expect harvest, how to treat them in terms of feeding/training. My mind is so occupied by other things I need to keep track, that’s a good bit of the reasoning as well.

I actually think my grow is super simple. I feed once or twice a week, for the most part they are low-maintence ladies. I always did IPM and training over the weekend as well as whatever feed concoction I was giving them. Mid-week, when short on time I’d just do maintence feeding. Just watering most days.

Taking your time with the breeding I think is key to having a good outlook on it. I’m tempering my expectations and still just getting comfortable with trying to grow plants at a higher level. They’ll grow regardless as long as kept alive, last season I just threw seeds in the ground and harvested in October. This year was an experiment in doing better than that, and it’s quite a difference. But they don’t NEED much. Sure, they WANT a ton.

I totally get your experience with the fertilizer. I read way too many tales of overfeeding and having to fix something, so I took the opposite tact. Feeding frequently but weakly. That caused issues too, thankfully my buddy pushed me to do it. I had a phosphorous deficiency causing twisted tops on one of my colas, we talked through and I could see how subtle signs of deficiency can exist even when feeding, just not feeding what was being asked for. Love the LITFA and FTB strategies  Bottom line is I did the same things, just for different reasons. I need to look more into the milk spray, never used it. I’m glad that you are finding the things that work for you and your ladies! What a ride, for you and me both. Different rides, but we’ve both been on them this season :grimacing:

Glad things are well. Not all trips to the hospital end that way.

Thank you brother. We were blessed this time around. Its always an eye opening experience once you realize that even the good outcomes at the emergency room are just practice for the more serious issues down the road. Just hopefully not anytime soon. None of us never know. Got to live it up and cherish the people we love Everyday. I pray you and your fam are having a great and safe Sunday.

Well, thank you as always guys. I just wanted to put a few nice looking pics up before everything goes to shit. In reality they look much worse than their doing in those photos. BBM x ECK is fine for now but the in-ground girls got hit hard with more of the PM. It never went away, but the rain lately really brought it back out. Covered in flour this morning. After three or four days of rain, they are just now drying out and look like snow covered Christmas trees already. Very hard to see all this but I knew it was coming. Definitely thankfull for multiple eggs and multiple baskets, so all is not lost. It never is, well, until it is but we’re damn sure not there yet! I’m just gonna be working on what I can do to scrounge anything at this point, an ISO wash and bubblebags for some super early oil/hash from the Don maybe. She is sticky as hell but everything else just took forever to start full flower. Ive tried everything I can do. Obviously I regret a shit ton of mistakes this year as the cannabis suffered because of some extremely uneducated random decisions on my part. Much too crowded, and mixed with the squash, tomatoes, cucumbers, and melons?! Its like I said “hey, lets try and get a bad case of something, then rub it all over anything not affected and see if its contagious!” And that was just the beginning. Im sure I made a few other fatal errors but that one is the zinger. I have no idea what I was thinking. But, Ill be back after I get my game back in gear. I have not been doing this too long, but certainly long enough to not be making these kinds of mistakes. Just a humble reminder that I still have much to learn and improve on, like basic fnnn shite. Probably gonna take a break for a couple weeks, get myself grounded. Thank you all for being so kind to me and the Garden. Gonna recoup and will be going through many other’s threads to learn how other outdoor growers deal with this, and hopefully come back swinging, next year. Will post a final result on this grow in a week or so. Hang in there everyone, and Thank You to anyone who took the time to read through my stupid rants(im just getting started, no worries), send some love, some of you went out of your way to show crazy love and support, and I wish yall a huge bountiful harvest! I really appreciate everyone here and have nothing but love for all of you. Good Luck on the Grows and anything else being worked on. An Amazing place, with even more Amazing people. Thanks Again! :v::heart:

Salutations Dendro!!
I just got this weeks worth of veggie material ground up, and poured onto the compost bin, all the rinds/skins/hulls/husks/spoiled veg, what the hell ever it may be, and is a vegetable, it’s now 2.5 gallons of stinky dinosaur vomit.
Will be wonderful compost this coming spring.
Since I had a few minutes to read I stopped in.
First best wishes for your wife!!
Dendro, I’d most humbly suggest, do not beat on your self for mistakes, pat yourself on the back for getting together what you did.
You learned, you sought out help, and you did it man!! You got harvest, you got knowledge, you got the great gift, some experience of doing…and the thrill of “damn next season I’m gonna plant”…
Enjoy your blessing man, you did that shit, and you did a fine damn job from the bits I can see.
Got so much going on right now, really not smart on my part.
Damn I wish we were a bit closer, as I’m getting ready to clean up, maybe 7-8 strains that are in veg. They all need their second topping and debranched, for the next stage of the veg time.
Lots of cut’s that could be clones will be composted, and I’ve flooded my (grow) circle up here, they just tell me, no more space man!!
My SAWA`/Killer Grape S1’s plants are starting to boof up, I started thinning them today, I screened them a couple of weeks ago now.
I got a screen to build for the 2 tray area, also.
Wish you and yours all the best Dendro, it’s an honor to meet/read about you and see a bit into your world!
Sincerely webe

The great thing about a garden is that it’s always there waiting for you the next day.

Don’t beat yourself up, you made it this far. I’m pretty sure everyone makes mistakes, and in a garden we’re only ever like a tiny bit “in control.”

Hope you wake up tomorrow feeling better man, we’ve both come way too far in life to lose sleep about some plants that are sick. It’s all going to be alright.

We’ve both learned really the same lessons here this summer. Plants too close to each other…check! Bug spray early…check! Keep a vigilant eye for problems and take care of them thoroughly before you call it a success…check! Learning about PM…check!

It’s never a total waste unless you don’t learn anything. And you’ve learned a lot, even if your plants are goners. And I kinda doubt they are, hopefully the sun tomorrow paints a different picture.

Hang in there man!

Making me smile big time guys. I’ve been through way too much to let this get in my way. I just appreciate that I can share both the wins and the losses here without getting beat up anymore than I already am. I am just very thankful that my woman is still able to do that part! And I saw my little boy again this weekend? Life is Good. Ohh, and yall know me… Always something up the sleeve as well! Gotta go get the pups, I probably put this one up before, but to be honest, I like stacking tunes here, just makes em easy for me to grab when Im on. Have a good one yall!

Yah those other mildew strains you mentioned won’t infest cannabis. Just make sure to break the cycle on the ground as well as your grow room if it’s infested as well. Once mildew is in the rear view mirror, you’ll be doing much better! 90%+ sulfur 1 tablespoon or half of that mixed in a liter of water and spray that once then again two weeks later. Spray the ground in the spring and your plants in the grow. only veg. Never spray in bloom or after an oil based application.

Thank you for your experience. When I get to that point, I’ll be sure to do what must be done, and I will look into the use of sulfer, it looks like its been used for a very long time. I realize it must be used with care, just like alot of other chemicals. Maybe it will become part of the routine. I got away with alot for quite awhile. Im gonna take a break, refocus ‘my priorities’, sanatize, then start again when I feel comfortable. I dont have alot on the line here, other than a few nice looking plants that went to hell in a matter of weeks. Indoor is fine for now, but not gonna be surprised if I see it soon. Oh well at this point. Im willing to bet that others in my area are/have been reporting this year as particularly bad or will be very soon. Not wishing this on anyone, just a fair warning. Its different this year. As you say, it seems to only be affecting the cannabis, and extremely aggressive. I wish I knew more on the subject, after all this, I most likely will. Though I have done a fair amount of reading prior, I truely believed that the typical methods of keeping the plant healthy were affective. I realize I was very wrong. I will just have to keep trying, like everyone else. Thanks again, hope all is well with you and yours.
