Thanks for giving me a cut of Dessert Delight to grow outside this past year, @DanielGrowPhotos
I certainly don’t have the experience with this one that you do, but here was my experience with it as best as I can put into words…
I got two clones in the Spring (May?) and got them rooted in rockwool cubes. Once rooted, they went outdoors under an awning, in 1 gallon Fox Farm Ocean Forest plastic pots. They took their time getting adjusted to the outdoors but my understanding is they are typically grown indoors… so that’s to be expected. I gradually gave them more sunlight as the season progressed and didn’t feed them any nutrients other than a bit of calmag every couple weeks. Both specimens seemed to not really uptake much water and didn’t show signs of any nutrient deficiencies. If I wasn’t consuming my attention with other things, I would be searching for the fast forward button on these ladies cause they take their time.
They eventually started filling out during the July/Aug transitional stretch, but this coincided with my running low on plant space out back so I moved them to the side of my property, with several others. I also took this opportunity to spray the smaller plant with a gender reversal agent in hopes of getting some S1 seeds. None of the plants that were moved did very well. I ended up pulling them back into the other portion of the yard a couple weeks later but lost a few plants during a brutal heat wave, before they could be saved… and one of those was the smallest Delight.
The remaining specimen was partially shaded by the apple tree branch it was under, and finished up nicely in the last week of September. Since the original plan of getting S1 seeds was no longer in play, I pollinated this lady with a male, sativa leaning, Blue Dream. The male Blue Dream displayed gorgeous widely spaced node structure, impressive pollen production, and adaptability in extreme weather conditions. I figured this might help adapt the genetic line to the outdoors and improve speed of development (can’t go wrong with the Blue Dream mental effect). It will be interesting to see what comes of those seeds.
She remained remarkably unremarkable all the way until harvest. There wasn’t an excess of hairs, nor was it exceptionally frosty. It put off a faint scent in flower but was greatly overpowered by others around her. I found that she doesn’t advertise… more of the quiet type. If I’m being honest, my thoughts after hanging her up to dry were mostly how this plant would be discarded if judged completely on outward appearances.
After curing for roughly two weeks in glass jars…
Effects wise,…this one isn’t for those looking to get blasted into the next galaxy, and might be overlooked because of this, but my experience is that it may be just right for someone that appreciates the entire spectrum of effects cannabis offers. One might say it allows a channel of communication between the divine and the heart!
Scent wise,…slightly floral, with a background of petrol (like a gas can with the cap on). The effect sets in slowly, starting in the head and moving primarily to the body. It’s not a heavy body high, but more of a relaxed one that lets you still get around. Those with arthritis may find this helpful. I’d be curious to see if this strain makes a nice balm for such patients. I found it helpful for meditation, because of the effects… where it doesn’t dominate mentally and yet helps in allowing the body to fully relax. As someone who appreciates this, it’s super valuable to have in the toolbox.
