Same one Ive got? I can send you a few cuts back. I just planted 3 clones that rooted quick and started some more in the cloner. Let me know and I’ll send em your way.
I got dj f5 blueberry still have not germed them yet but I have just in case for future grow.
Nice, wasn’t sure who I have sent it to lol. Don’t worry about it, I have a local buddy that I’ve shared cuts with. There’s actually a few I need to get back from him, and more to have him try lol.
Okay man! If you ever need any, those root like crazy. Still not having much luck with that sundae driver. But it hasn’t been too long since I’ve tried new ones with some lower light. The weather is cooling down.
I know this is old but wind burn could be it. I have seen outside hairs go from pretty pink to wire thin brown over strong winds.
Newberry preservation went well. From the freebie six pack I got 2 females, 4 males. The mutant female ended up being pure chocolate smelling and the non-mutant was a totem pole stretch indica pheno. Trying to reveg both right now, but got about 100 seeds from it as well. Not bad for minimal veg and a 150w hps.
so i take this mutant was worth keeping? does that usually happen for you or do you cull them?
Really? I’m interested in Chocolate flavord seeds wanna do a trade or something
Got photos of this mutant?
Hard to tell as I flowered it very small and fully pollenated it. Blueberry genetics are known to have odd mutants, so I let them grow out as some have found unique plants from the mutants. The buds were very small, but very resinous. If it breeds true for the chocolate smell and taste, then it could be a cool breeding tool!
Sure! Was planning on doing a bit of trading with these to spread the genetics around
I posted a photo in this thread a month ago or so, don’t think I have any more of it. It was all crinkle leaved, with odd growth habits - from what I read it looks to be chocolate thai leaning with the mutant leaves and non-symmetrical branching.
Sure black seeds that they made .
I was just thinking the same thing!
The beans dark as coffee beans, or darker
Ha they are dark but I think partly due to bad lighting in my office.
Hey I have a mutant from the breeders choice seeds. It took two months to start to grow normally. The new growth looks much different then mutant part, the mutant looks like more the other females then it does the new growth. Its much different. How common is this with his gear? I’ll throw a pic up when I get home.
Quite common
It is a well known thing and in the late 90s when I grew it last , was one of the traits you wanted to look for when hunting a keeper. Not sure about nowadays.
Yeah that’s what I’ve always heard too. That his blueberry is mutant af, so I’d think that’s what you’d still wanna look for.
If you lookup his interviews and/or breeding documentation, he says himself he bred for the flower and paid no regard to the structure of the plants.
Yeah the mutants are relatively common. The mom I ran from BCM2 originally self topped itself and grew abnormally in terms of branching ha - not symmetrical at all. Once it grew out of the abnormalities it produced some excellent super resinous bud.
My mutant newberry reveg seems to be moving along nicely too, looking forward to giving it a non seeded run for some chocolate buds!
Its a BCM4 mutant male. Discription says he utilized mid-90’s parent stock. So, no way to really know what his daughters will be like, until he’s bred. I got three to germ out of the freebie pack that came with the bcm4 pack I bought. It may be wise to pop the other 16 seeds and find a mutant female match and then search for better females and males down the line, I dont know. Maybe, a IX to another older blueberry hybrid to bring out more indica traits while opening up the gene pool? I’m giving it some thought. Read his book a few months back after listening to his potcast. But its nice to have feedback from other growers, especally ones that have grown DJShorts earlier 90’s varietals.
