So back then, I remember how each new strain would give me a vivid new high, distinct effects I could point out and be like yeah I liked that white widow because it did 1 2 3 4 so and so.
But now , 99 percent of strains feel like you get the initial rush of being high then its automatically switched over too background high … like the high moved from the foreground to the background.
Now I do notice when I change environments the highs do feel alot different and stronger / more distinct.
But back then when I was a newer smoker that did not matter. I could smoke in the same place 3 days in a row and each time was a completely new experience … even sometimes with the same strain.
But of course now, it just aint doing much.
I smoked some blunt pieces with my neighbor today, and I saw the bud, it was frosty as heck, smelled like candy and you guess it, I got high for like 20 minutes and it went to background mode.
Maybe its genetics, tolerance. Something. But its lame lol.
I used to tell my guy how each new strain he had effected me LOL. because effects were so obvious to point out .
I Smoke once per week at times and It Is Just stronger but the same flat experience.
The last proper High I had was with Gorilla Automatic, everything started to rush until I could not understand time,I literally felt like floating too.Racy.
When i tried 99 percent diamonds, yeah it was a strong high… but it was also Kind of boring because it was pure thc.
Yes ive taken t breaks. Ive taken 6 month breaks, come back and smoke, get blasted for like a day or two then be back to normal
I think its terps , genetics , and lack of other cannabinoids
Leaning towards its the lack of terps/ extra noids.
A pure thc high is quite boring, BUT, add in some cbc and cbn and its a heavy indica now
My tolerance is quite high though, I know that bud with the neighbor would have hit way better in a different setting ,and lower tolerance I had to ask him if he bought flavored blunts because it tasted like candy he didnt , they were regulars
And I also know , a high terpene 20 percent THC strain is going to hit better than a 22 percent low terp strain
Tolerance is at least some of it but I think you’re onto something with the mention of cannabinoids or lack of. I’ve noticed situation and persons also have a huge impact.
I Don’t know about setting but It surely plays a role.I also read somewhere that the Total cannabinoids+terpenes profile has ti do with everyone different chemistry and affects you differently than me, that Is why my friend gets blasted and different effect than me with same buds
Oh for sure… I just rmemeber a time back then where every weed we smoked, me and my buddy. we would get blasted. and typically share similar effects … i miss those days lol.
I think genuinely weed was just better back then bout 10 years ago
Genetics were much closer to their OG parents

But now its just … yeah I got high and gamed. was fun LOL
And I know their is some genetics out there that would make me wanna call 911 its so strong LOL.
I just havent had that bud in a while… the kind where I notice the distinct qualitys of the high

and I have NOT had bad weed at all last yeaar… In fact id argue I had some of the best quality weed ive ever gotten last year… but even then… it didnt compare to 10 years ago… so yeah I guess welcome to cookies

White widow of 10 years ago had my ass feeling like I was the tank in the game. It felt electric. It felt alive, It felt like shiit was pulsing. I swear I saw wavy lines on the walls lmfao.
Lemon pepper? a strain that no doubt looked more exotic than white widow did? just a chill average flat high LOL

I know what the OP is talking about and I can somewhat relate but that is from when I had only a few varieties on hand. I purposefully keep a couple dozen varieties or more of flower in my stash cupboard. Partly for flavors , and also for thier effects.
I don’t mind a really tasty cookies hybrid that has an initial kick but then mellows out into the background. Mostly because I was a smoker, I enjoy smoking, I really like some of the cookie flavors and I’m okay with needing frequent doobies through the day in that regards. I have long referred to these kinds of strains as “Dessert” weed. Great for socializing and smelling up a room , without an entorauge of other effects. Some of the “cookies” strains also provide serious relief from some of my nerve pain so they have thier places.
I cycle thru my jars throughout the day based on what the day will entail, what my pain level is, ect ect.
