Has anybody ever measured the accuracy of their watch?
Not all oscillator crystals are made equally, but usually pretty close. Even most cheap-o stopwatches are accurate to 0.1 seconds/week.
I knew a metrologist with a James Bond Omega Seamaster (automatic?), and his watch always measured off by seconds per day. He swore it was just the instrumentation measuring funny.
With a lightning plug? How useless. Apple is down to just one device that even uses it. Make better photoshop/render choices is all Im saying. All these kids today with their digital, whats wrong with analog grinders?
This is my favorite one and is valuable to me because my mother gave this to my father on their 2nd. Anniversary…3 different jewelers wanted to buy it from me…1 offered $750 and he was a Hamilton watch fan…He said he’s never seen this kind of Hamilton before and he’s got more than a few Hamiltons…It’s not the money folks, I value this for sentimental reasons…btw, those other 3 watches on top belonged to my youngest brother who past away on 2006…
@Worcestershire_Farms – If you are looking for Swiss internals, that does not break the bank. Tissot has a decent line that you don’t have to auction off a kidney to acquire.
Yeah I like to do apnea diving (breath hold) and I spend also some.time.doing surf so… Yeah it is handy to have watches that hold up. Plus there is something about their design that appeals to me.
Casio. Sturdy and last for ages, have had a few and they are super.
But it depends what you are looking for. Invicta has a bad rrp because of their post sales service… But they have a Seiko machine inside that is built to withstand.
nice! Always wanted to try free diving. There was a shop next to mine in utila that did it, several instructors blew my mind with 3+ min breath holds in no time. I’m friends with the hungarian national record holder actually! If you knew her story, and transformation over the last 4 years, from office secretary to amazing international competitor, it would blow your mind. Truly an inspiring journey for her.
Maybe next trip to Utila… I wanna be one of those people swimming thru the wheelhouse of the haliburton, 100ft down, without scuba gear.
edit:
Funny. There was a certain $5 casio watch that all the instructor candidates would get, because it was waterproof to 40m, and it had a stopwatch (many dive watches lack a stopwatch, and we need it to meet standards)
The one shop that carried them knew they would sell 20-25 a month, every month. lol
It’s a matter of time and preparation. You get used to it. Also tolerance to CO2 increases allowing you to hold your breath longer. And then the exercises for relaxing also make a huge difference. Also being able to control your Hart beat and so on
Our urge to breathe when holding your breath is triggered by the excess of CO2 rather than the lack of O2. That’s when you get those tummy contractions
