Do you wear a watch

seiko, citizen, or orient for metal, analog, fancier looking pieces
g shock if you prefer digital/need a watch that can withstand a nuclear explosion
all of the above have solar or mechanical options so you dont have do mess around with batteries
(yes, my rent/mortgage is pretty cheap)

I remember one would burn you. I can’t remember which one. It was in the early 80s

I use this one from time to time :grin:tmp-cam-7229412281687671793

Nice! I’ve got a Tissot PR50 I picked up for $50 from a pawn shop years ago, it lives on a NATO band and takes everything I throw at it. Love their minimalism compared to some of the chunkier Swiss brands:

This was an unexpected gift from a rich man on a wild spending binge out in LA 2013. Appraised at 8500

Rolex Submariner two tone

This is what I had before it…a Zodiac

OK well the story goes like this :

Man walks around Bentley dealership and proceeds to ask me about what kind of watch to wear. I tell him it’s not really my thing (my thing is Italian clothing) So I finally tell him what I would, theRolex Submainer because I’ve been James Bond fan (RIP) since a boy, and several days later a green box is handed to me just like that.

That’s a good story
I used to have a boss like that would give me a fat roll of cash every year for Christmas lol,but I worked 6 days a week 12 hour shifts, but still nothing like a roll of cash when your not expecting it

I prefer the Omega Seamaster Daniel Craig’s Bond wears over the Rolex personally…

Am not saying I have it, I’d be thrilled with either. lol

Omega and Breitling are my faves.

I’d almost give my left arm for one, but then where would I put the watch?

The best one I got is spending the evening w a high roller in Atlantic City, and I had a friend along w me. We each walked away w 10 grand cause he says anyone w him gets 10% of the winnings, you never seen so many stacks being delivered from the high limit slots area. He had a Amex BLACK CARD to get cash from too. It was insane from my perspective, however I know from my past upbringing it’s par for the course w the affluent.

When I’m done with construction, I’m going to buy a rap watch. Something obnoxious. Get me a Franck Muller like @SaintAliasKnife

i can’t hear for shit so needed something that would wake me up. i wear a casio g shock, almost like i have since '89, but with a vibrating alarm. i did not know they had those. also did not know there are like 132 different models of g shock.

I do admire a nice Breitling, but I don’t wear any kind of jewelry, watches included (so no watch for me).

I’ve had and still have several nice pieces, but my daily wear is the Tudor Ranger. It’s versatile, not flashy, durable, not crazy heavy. I got it 6 years ago or thereabouts and of the last 2000 days, it’s probably been on my wrist 1900 of them. The other 100 days were probably a Seamaster GMT. Haven’t bought a watch in 5 years, that’s an addiction much worse than seed hoarding, but it works the same way

I found collecting watches to be like collecting knives. I got crazy into it and acquired a bunch, but there’s always one that you use more than the others. You find the one that’s just RIGHT for you. The addiction can then dissipate and you just wear your piece. Benchmade 761 with oil-impregnated bronze bushings I machined myself is the knife if you’re curious.

Cheers guys, gonna shower and put on the Tudor. Time for Saturday errands.

I’ve been bombarded with ads that keep telling me that now is the time to scoop up used luxury watches. Apparently the market is saturated right now from COVID collectors that no longer have the hobby.

I’ve had some nice watches. Nice watch makes me feel good. Obsolete now since always have phone on me. Plus I just don’t want to put them on and take them off.

I’m just hard on things in general. I used to do luxury sunglasses but eventually I would wear them while painting and get paint speckles all over them, or wear them as safety glasses while cutting stuff. Haha. Maybe I don’t need a Rolex regardless of what the Internet is telling me.
