Does anyone have any skunk genetics

Time to dig it out lol. @misterbee
I was told by Nevil’s master breeder that if I find a Skunk, then crossing it into Garlic bud would produce a RKS line.

I’ll definitely gift you some killer strains I’m working on.

The WS18 sure is a powerful and dang near real Skunk , if I find a Skunk in that I’ll add it to Garlic Bud

Haha thanks, they were made by accident/neglect. I was revegging 4 skunk cuts while doing a Colombian cheese seed increase and the cuts got hit by pollen. I didn’t notice until I went to take fresh cuts, and went “hey, seeds!”.

They matured for close to 3 months, and are very dark. Made about 100 seeds.

I don’t know when I’ll get to them, my best guess is I’ll plant 20 or 30 deep in the woods this summer :slightly_smiling_face:

Medman’s Roadkill Kush, around six weeks. Very pungent skunk stench, sour, like apple cider vinegar. Has put on a prominent smell of camping fuel in the past few days.

Call me crazy but I went over all his posts under all aliases to look into some things he said about skunk…

When I open pollinated my orange line. The first go I ended up with tiny seeds, so did the second run… third run bam giant seeds.

Looking into that, seems like fat seeds store food, while smaller seeds don’t but they still know how to cooperate with microbial life.

So when he says “we call giant seeds rookie seeds where I’m from” he might be onto something

Are we looking at something that might convert due to temperature? Put potatoes in the refrigerator and you end up with a sweeter flavor due to the starch being converted to sugar. When the super so stinky smell comes out last week in flower in northern climates may be affected by cooling temps much like flavonoids changing colors.

Skunk has a tropical background and may overreact to temp differential causing the skunk smell to catalyze at an even greater rate and create a stronger smell due to this stressor like the intersexed phenomena. Just ideas?

After reading 100s of threads on multiple forums, I’m 100% convinced it’s a lost strain/ terp. Yes there are skunky funky strains but that particular smell is gone. I Cleary remember that odor, beyond penetrating…nothing could contain it. Vacuum seal, jar seals…didn’t matter. That smell would permeate everything.

Last I had it was 2004, one time oz I bought from an older grower in Atlanta that got it via Fort Collins, Co. I got it through a friend of friend kinda thing. Buds were very old school looking dark leafy not trichomed out. I pestered my buddy for quite a while, and he said it was a black domina seed dude found. This was the only plant that had these traits. So who knows? I’m aware black domina isn’t known for smell like this. Just wanted to share that was one time I encountered anything remotely similar to that rks of old.

Personally I would look into an older afghan line, I’m almost positive the rks is/ was an older pre Soviet afghan. I mean I’m sure most would agree afghans carry that heavy smell.

Absolutely not lost, but sure selected against. Hemp fields still have issues with the stench of skunk smell that brings complaints from neighbors etc. That smell comes from thiols not directly from terps, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a synergy of the 2 that make the perfect “skunk” smell. Lots of breeders new and old talk about it online and on podcasts, and there’s definitely scientific research going into getting to the bottom of it too. One problem I’ve heard though is humans can detect thiols in parts per trillion, so even in a lab measuring for/detecting them is fairly hard.
Just heard a potcast episode with Todd McCormick talking about getting original seeds from skunkman Sam and Seattle Greg which he used to start his seed company AG seed co.
Said the sunk seeds he had have only been reproduced 2x since like '96 and he said he’s definitely found some skunky smelling plants out of those seeds. I’m super intrigued and would love to try some of his seeds when i have more grow space!

Those seeds were just the ancestral skunk . Sam sold those like 100 for like 40/50 buck because of low germination rate like 10/100 or something like that.
