Yeah, that water is a little cold this time of year!
It’s cold enough in August
I wonder if he did the same b.s. trick in the auction for Santero…he was in it for $85.
Shame @Prisma isn’t around anymore to ask…
That auction was a rather messed up situation anyway… from what I can tell, he bid on three strains and only got one of them. I offered to send him seeds to make up for the pack of mine he bid on and didn’t receive, and he declined; he also declined an offer by someone else to send him money back in compensation for not getting the seeds.
Frankly, it’s a murky situation with him and everywhere I look I can find contradictory evidence. The suggestion that it’s a mental health issue seems to be a decent one. That doesn’t make him any less of a problem if people are getting ripped off by him, though… having a pathological liar around doesn’t help anyone here.
Damn. Sorry to hear all this. I had a feeling this was going to happen (see above quote from another thread). However, I too was staying out of everything, letting him work back his reputation. And, he actually seemed to be doing it.
I’m just out free beans, but for those above, including the site, who are out actual money, I just don’t have the words. I’m sorry.
Edit: I even turned down his last offer to send me replacement “free” beans. I was touched that he was trying to make good, but declined (mainly) because I have no more need for beans, and (less) I didn’t want to deal with him anymore. I just wished him luck and politely declined. This whole thing is just hard to understand. Why go through such effort to harm your reputation?
He also could have pulled the same trick he did on @JohnnyPotseed and @LemonadeJoe at the same time he did it to them, no?
Maybe he just declined because he knew he was getting his money back anyway?
Hmm…
@JohnnyPotseed $170
@LemonadeJoe $400
@Prisma $ 85* tbd
@HeadyMcDank $120* tbd
Total (*assuming im right on this one) $775+ all the free seeds he soaked up from chumps like me.
Score?
…
Edit. PLUS I’m pretty sure there were OTHER auctions in the last 6 months he may have won bids on that i haven’t checked yet.
Trust trades are commonly used by the online gaming community. The would-be scammer will make many positive exchanges throughout a period of time. Then when the stakes get high and the value is deemed “worthy” enough for their scam, they cut and run.
It’s a classic bait and switch.
I’m thinking that’s what we have here. But I soooo hope I’m wrong about this person.
The ones true to their word usually make up for it though! Straight up his loss… BBD is fantastic!
Man that kind of makes me sad. I don’t get why people feel the need to claim testers when there are plenty of raffle opportunities.
@HeadyMcDank auction he won two bids for $120
@DougDawson fundraiser he won two bids for $135
Did he reverse either of these charges guys?
Exactly. I’d never take with the promise of testing if I did not intend to do just that.
Yes, my auction purchase was charged back. That’s part of the total LemonadeJoe spoke of. I didn’t actually touch the money, LemonadeJoe collected it as it was a site fundraiser so I didn’t need to be involved in that part of it. I just supplied the beans and shipped the packages. Then I got reimbursed for the shipping costs.
Thanks for clarifying @DougDawson
I get that. It was more of a rhetorical question. Especially with so many free beans raffled/given away on the daily here, there’s no need to then scam the site.
He could, except the money he declined wasn’t offered by someone he’d paid; @prisma had already disappeared. He’d have no other way to get what was basically an extra $30 being offered by one of the seed providers, not the auction host. If he were deliberately and calculatedly orchestrating a scam and choosing to pull the rug now, he shouldn’t still be declining money to build good will. It’s not just a case of his actions contradicting his words; his actions seem to contradict his actions as well.
Note that I’m not advocating for him… I’m just saying it doesn’t entirely make sense. He can still be a bad guy who people don’t want around, whether his actions entirely make sense or not.
Just tossing this out there, though I’m sure it’s been thought of by people smarter than me. Are there protections in place, or anything that can be done, to ensure he doesn’t come back under a different account and pull this all over again?
Holy crap. Crime DOES pay.
We all hand out free cheese, can’t stop the occasion rat/weasel from taking more than his fair share.
This goes beyond that, though. Scamming freebies is one thing (though still awful), scamming money from people is another.
