That sales guy would be preachin’ to the choir over here

Oh, cool!

It looks like the way to go. The extra money is well worth the peace of mind.

When I am purchasing chemical fertilizer, I definitely look for ones that are ph buffered. Chasing the ph is… irritating. It works really good, I’ve never been like “oh crap the ph has hit 4” panic
Did you specifically complain to the store guy that the ph was bouncing around? I’m actually curious as to how you came across the information. Personally, I read it in a chemistry text book.

Lol no chemistry book here. I just told him I was using GH nutes and wanted to try something a little higher quality. Seems like alot of salt build up from the GH.

He showed me the AN stuff and mentioned the PH thing. I was sold lol

Thanks for the details! Very interesting! I hardly ever see articles on growing in hydro that mentions ph buffers. They are really rare.

Jack’s hydroponic solution is pH buffered. Comes out a perfect 6.0 with my tap water. Stays that way for about a week of flood and drain. I love it so far.

Yah thats a little confusing for me as of now. Going to do some studying in the next few weeks while current run finishes.

My tap water has been great with the GH nute mix starting around 6PH and dropping to 5 as I upped EC. Only just had to start adjusting PH in these last 4 weeks of flower.

These buffered nutes, they always adjust to 6 for veg and a bit lower for the bloom mix? Or does it vary depending on starting PH? No need to answer really, I plan on doing the research…those are the questions I have though lol.

yah the starting ph matters it’s why they like you to use RO water as there is nothing in there to alter the ph. It’s not critical though the ph can be off a bit the chelation of transition metals usually covers the variations. Mine is usually ph 6.5-6.2 in veg and 6.0 in bloom. It’s a little high due to my lime stone water, but it still does a good job.

When I tell someone in the real world to use something that is ph buffered they look at me like I’m a fucking lunatic. Eventually I stopped saying it and somehow that became a secret to how my water culture works.

Thanks for the info Joe! Look forward to giving it a go.

Quick shot from lights out.

We are 6.5 weeks in and almost done!

Tric heads are starting to turn red. I figure let the lower canopy develop for another week or 10 days and it should finish right on the 8 week mark.

Didn’t get a decent picture of the other plant but its got a little longer to go and is turning an awesome purple color.

some minor taco-ing but they are looking good!

Yes. Low humidity and my fan blowing a little low is the culprit I think. The lower canopy doesnt have any. Its just the top half. I stopped misting a cpl weeks ago and humidity has been at like 35-40 during the day

Also the PH fluctuation caused a little bit of fox tailing I think. Real minor though.

All easy stuff to fix on the next run. Can’t wait to crack these PK and Blueberry x OG seeds.

Some better shots of the mutant. Looking pretty awesome so far tbh.

An ph perfect will fall at around 6.2. They work good but ridiculous expensive if you have to use full strength. Some plants wont need it but at full strength with a few plants youll be emptying bottles regularly.

Yeah the guy did say they were pricey. GH trio was real cheap. I’ll try both and compare results.

She’s coming down Tuesday morning! Cleaned bucket out and started flushing straight water. Here’s some pics out of the tent for the first time while I changed water.

A cheaper option would be a doser and powdered nutrients. Advanced nutrients is expensive.

A pH doser is like $400. I know a guy who spends $400 a month in advanced nutrients

Although you would need a recirculating system

Thanks for the tip ill check it out. I think i paid like 50$ canadian for General Hydroponics trio. The three bottles lasted me throughout the whole grow for 2 buckets.

One more tip, however with your netting it may not work, but could help someone else…
I would run the air hose through a hole drilled in the net pot bucket lid, not the bucket itself. That way when you do full nute changeouts you can mix up a batch in an extra bucket (you need N+1 buckets to have a spare) and just lift the net pot and plant across to the new bucket of nutes and the air lines and stones all move with it as one. Also your bucket is still water tight for when you need it for something else.
