Jeremy from Build-a-Soil was only able to no-till his earth boxes twice. After two rounds, it was almost 100% castings. He dumped them and mixed it 50/50 with his light mix in season 3 of his 10x10 series.
Really? Was this in an earthbox Jr? Or full sized?
It was an Earthbox Original. I empty my juniors out after the run. Clean them. Amend the soil, then put it back in.
My originals I just plant back in, and then top dress.
Iām halfway through run #4 with my earthbox. Only really added some castings and craft blend. Will prob empty it out after this run. 7 plants out of āone bag of soilā aināt too shabby.
I just picked up 4 more EBs for a small tent, an outdoor plant or 2, and my shed set up. I wanted something easy when it comes to watering that isnāt automated. I like checking my plants everyday. Setting up computers to grow weed for me isnāt fun. Playing in the dirt makes my stress levels go down and makes it taste better.
I agree. They are great things for beginners to help them. I grew in it my own way and find it works. Definitely enjoy playing in the dirt when I can.
I average 7 ounces of buds per box regardless whether it is a junior or original. They are definitely worth it.
I used some buildaflower with earth wormcasting and recharge with some dynomyco
Just added to fresh bag of soil
Please with the results
I just finished my 1st run in an EB and itās the bees knees. Curious if your EB produced more leaf material than the RS bag. I mean of course it did, but did you notice a difference between the leaf/calyx ratio? Thanks
I got less leaf and bigger, thicker buds from the Earthbox. Along with top dressing, I feed through the tube. I also shave their legs early and often till week 4 of flower.
If you have a Wegmans grocery store by you, check them for Earthboxes. One in my area had them. I bought the kits there, cheaper than I could from the EB site, and no shipping.
The original one runs $49.99
Thatās not a bad price. $37 here at a grow shop for the original, but thatās with no wheels or fertilizer. I think the wheels are $8-10 so thatās about right.
Casters is $9.50. Organic fertilizer is $14.50.
Earthbox would charge $65, plus shipping.
The grow shop seems in line with Wegmans. Does theirs include any of the fertilizers?
It did not include ferts. But I didnāt want them anyways. And i donāt want the wheels on all of mine either. Just the basic box is good for me.
I do not use the fertilizer either. At least it was the organic one. I have some Originals with and without wheels. At my age, I will get the wheels for any future onesā¦lol. The juniors are a lot easier to move around.
I use my earthbox in my smaller short tent. Nowhere to roll it around and I need that extra 3 inches of height.
Now the 4 more EBs I just bought, I tried getting wheels for them but they only had one set left. My big tent is taller and if I put a couple on my patio, then the wheels would be key!!
@anon74731205 just finished jarring up the Pure Vida. She came in at 5.5 ounces of bud. She was in an Earthbox Junior.
Emsco Group City Picker Raised Bed Grow Box ā Self Watering and Improved Aeration ā Mobile Unit with Casters - Cobalt Blue Amazon.com
I use these City Pickers
Do you have any photos of her in flower ? Iām curious how big she was in the earthbox JR for that yield.
How do you fill it? Do you segregate the N somewhere? I know they have a trough for that at least I think I remember that. I bought some of a similar sort at lowes for a song.
Iāll read up further, you just grow a lot of my kind of boogie and I wonder about your strategy.
I amend my soil. I keep it just water mostly in the beginning. Once they start to drink, I start to add more in than just water. I feed organic nutes with the water.
Once I flip them, I wait feed them light organic nutes. Once the juniors are drinking the reservoir empty, I kick up the nutes. I feed them heavily.
