I’m a bit worried. I think the strawberry banana clone and the first s1 popped have TMV. They are presenting both symptoms lightly (leaf variegation and leaf curl), the s1 also grows kind of slow… maybe? Possible sources: cigarettes(I’m generally wash my hands after smoking anything, maybe I forgot once or a few times) or genetics (see this post).
Since the virus can stay dormant for some time, i’m also worried the pollen genes might be infected, so @Oldtimerunderground and @bassman5420 please be carefull and maybe pause any breeding project to avoid further contamination in case it really is tmv. I’ll still grow the s1’s to collect more data. I’d also like to apologize in advance for wasting your time guys I feel horrible…
It could also be nothing or anything, the marking/colors seem to blend over time and it could also be that the virus is in the soil I reused (no clue if that’s possible) for the first s1 popped, so if no other S1 shows symptoms it could be the soil. Also the progeny might be able to grow with no problem other then light symptoms of tmv. Maybe only the s1’s are affected and not the crosses made with the pollen. I like to touch my plants and the others aren’t showing any sign of tmv, so I don’t know… I’m a bit lost. I’ll go get the growers handbook there must be something about tmv there (just checked and nope, nothing)
Edit: fuck I also grew tobacco this year…
