Sorry to hear about the leg. I spiral fractured my leg a couple years back but was able to just get an air cast and avoid the surgery. Hope it works out as best as possible for you.

The length and type of cast you get will depend on a few factors such as how bad the fracture is, your age and weight. Shattered my hand in an auto accent many years ago. Learned a few things from that.

6 weeks, I kinda wish I had gotten the screws put in as it’s the ankle joint and my ankle has been weak since then. It was right at the peak of Covid infections so I just wanted out of the ER as quick as possible.

You might be in a split for a few days until the swelling goes down. After that it will be your doctors call on cast vs. air cast vs. walking boot. Your tibia is the weight bearing bone in your leg. Yea that is some good swelling you got there.
