Moved the slow clones to flower this AM. They are exactly a week behind. Easy to keep track of, probably poor timing for spiking ferts at strategic times. I’m sure they aren’t going to be pleased with this, or maybe they will. Either way, it’s time. They have roots out the bottom of the 10cm cube.
Speaking of which, I’ve got some ideas there (spiking certain plants with different nutes at different times), but none outstandingly brilliant. Needs some more time to ferment in my mind.
Anyway, back row left 3 are 907 Blue Genes x Shiskaberry #3, the right-hand side column is Runtz x Sour Bubble, and the front left 3 are 907 Blue Genes x NL#1.
You’ll note N#2 is slow and pissed, N3 is behind a bit and N4 is keeping up with the back row. Despite being most temperamental as small seedlings the Shiska crosses are the strongest cuts and rooted quite happily. None of the Runtz x Sour Bubble cuts have rooted as quickly, nor have the apparent vigor of the other lines.
When I look at the pictures I can see the resemblance of the crosses to their mom, who exhibited a very dense internodal structure and high leaf density. Momma looked primordial and wild compared to modern cultivars. That should actually be the case, the parental lines to the 907 Blue Genes are old. But I love the terps and effects she had. Great smoke.
On the veg side, I’ve been watering manually until I can clean out the trays and reservoir now that things are recovered for the most part. Made some weed salad thinning things out this AM, here’s how it looks now.
I suspect the yellowing will go away as I increase the EC back to what it was before the “incident” They’ve been getting kid glove treatment for a while now.
^^Summary of neuroticsm. Not sure I trust ORP measurement yet.
@NoCal @Nitt we’ll get groovy with the sensor. Think initially I’ll just hook it up and use MATLAB or python to collect data. Then decide about making something WiFi. I hope it’s not potted so I can take it apart.
@m0sirys appreciate the input and help when I made trouble for myself.
@Fuel finally have ruminated about the nutrition thing for a while.
This is hilarious. But probably actually true, our culture is very individualistic as a whole. I find a strong irony in the tribalism of the political parties. People are weird animals. Fuck, I’m probably one of the weirdest ones.
Fuck I must be retarded. Why would I get K toxicity lowering K? I wouldn’t be suprised if I got K toxicity and Ca deficiency if I lowered N, is that what you mean? Or, if I use a generic PK booster I could easily wind up with K toxicity.
Right now, the recommended doseages of MC are yielding an effective N:P:K ratio of about 12:7:16. So I’m high on N right now, as recommended by MC - but it looks out of line with other stuff with better reputations. A quick survey of some options…
- Canna Flores is about 3-4-10 with a big shot of PK during flower development, consistent with your comments about K, I think anyway.
- MC is 8-12-28 base but works out to about 12-7-16 at recommended constant flower doseage
- Athena Pro is constant in flower 9-8-15
Another aspect of the selection of MC was that I was initially attracted to Jack’s 3-2-1. Lots of success with that online, and looked easy enough for me to manage when I started. MC appeared basically the same without the epsom salt and some extra goodies.
Overall, the initial goal was to have one feed for the whole flower cycle start-to-finish. So that I could have the flexibility to exchange plants on the table and not worry about individual feeds. Of course that means compromise in other areas. No such thing as a free lunch.
I’m going to continue reading and thinking. Again, my lack of experience with this is a big hinderance to my knowledge uptake capability.
Cheers and have a great day. It’s going to be a long one for me but today is my “Friday” and I can’t wait for the weekend. Scrubdown of veg hardware tomorrow and hopefully reach a conclusion about fertilizers.
