Getting ready for my 2-3 day adventure to see the eclipse. We’ll see if that works out.
Anyway, 2 weeks since last res change so drained, rinsed and refilled. Lowered the nutes a touch (~10%). 7.5 gallons RO, 1 gallon filtered but not RO, 96mL Canna Aqua Flores A and B, 1mL GG Monosilicic, 10mL HOCl. pH settled right on 5.70 and EC of 1.75mS. Which was a bit higher than I wanted, I’ve been getting 1.85-1.94 with 110mL of each A and B. It seems clear to me I’m running a bit hotter than needed based on the leaves and the plants. So a small, but deliberate step hopefully towards better balance and smoke.
Today marks 6 weeks gone for most of the ladies except the Runtz x Sour Bubbles.
I took them all out for inspection and photos.
907 Blue Genes x NL #1
Here’s the lineup:
N4 is my favorite, she has a squashed fat stalk and wide cola. Smelling fruity and woody notes. Here’s a side (skinny side) view:
Overall notes, wide variation in structure/speed/frost variation but smells are similar to each other.
907 Blue Genes x Shiskeberry #3
Here’s the lineup:
After examining the NL crosses, it really struck me how wide the variation is here in the terp profiles. S3 on the right has a strong burnt rubber thing going on, while S1 has no hint of that at all - just fruity. S3 burnt her top in the light earlier in the week, in the photo it almost resembles botrytis but it certainly doesn’t look like that in person. Considered chopping it off but haven’t.
S3 smelling like a drag strip, consistent with her desire to encrispen in the lamp. Pretty though:
S1 looks almost like a nanner up top but on closer inspection I THINK it’s a leaf that is a little bleached. Please give your opinions! I’ve not seen a nanner other than ones I’ve made deliberately.
In summary, I really like the smell and production of S1 but the potential nannerism is a turn-off. S3 is a vigorous plant but really not the terp profile my nose favors. Perhaps the effects will make up for it. Smells like a knock-out punch.
Runtz x Sour Bubble
@Fuel here’s your update curious what SPG traits you may recognize.
R3 is farthest along in exiting week 6 (42 days flower). R4/5 took longer to root are are just at day 35. All smell acrid with a hint of sweet, the sweetest being this R3:
I don’t know. Maybe it’s because I didn’t make these seeds I feel less attached or attracted to them. They look and smell like great weed. Definately lower on production at this point than the other crosses. It’s just different. I don’t care for them as much as the others.
General
It’s truely fascinating to me to have all these plants flowering at the same time, 3 of each line. Noticing the differences between expressions and growth habits is hugely educational.
N4 right in the middle there with the stacked bud
Staggered by height so the little Solo cup challenge entrants get some light. Gave those girls a trim this morning.
I think N4, S1 and S3 are going to get a run outside this summer. The stark difference in terp profile between S1 and S3 is quite a curiosity to me.
Tomorrow I’ll tend the veg side, which has become a ridiculous jungle. Next weekend I’ll decide what to cut for clones and maybe start some beans for outdoor.
Cheers, hope you all have a great weekend! As always, I appreciate all the guidance and help that’s gotten me to this point. Quite a wonderful little adventure to start this year.
