FieldEffect's Attempt to Grow Indoors

I’ve definately been thinking about it…

The soil is looking gorgeous this season. Getting things ready this year is just neem seed meal, some blood meal, some (actually a bunch) of worm castings, some mulch. Nice to see all the effort last season is really starting to pay off.

I think N4 is going to become a beast out there :cowboy_hat_face:

Struggling to decide on what else to run, as usual. Going to do a Mexican Death Sativa x Oaxaca made by a local here, one or two from this indoor “pheno hunt” and questioning the rest. I’m thinking 6-8 plants this time. So I’ve got a few slots left to decide. Wanted to run Coastal Blueberry and a Blueberry Quest. Almost thinking I’ll just randomly pick some from my seed vials and run 'em. SSDD and WMBK may appear. I’m learning to play a little looser, I don’t have to overthink everything. The seed collection got a little out of hand :joy:

Having indoor capabilities really relaxes me with the outdoor stuff. I can do the more serious experiments inside, with better control, and don’t have to rely on small plant counts outside to do whatever I’m attempting.

I’ve given away lots of Frankenstein and NL #2 fems to folks looking to try growing this season, so I think I’ll get a few tastes of those without having to grow them outside myself.

Morning friends :slightly_smiling_face:

I’ve not touched anything in about 3 days other than peeking, to test how things will do when I go.

Momma’s are having a party in the basement they need a trim this weekend. I am waiting on some other cuts to arrive this week hopefully I can start a few cuts for outside (Probably N4, N3 and S1) on the top deck.

Light is on the ceiling now.

My female Icarus (S1) melted her bud in the artificial sun

Got her pinched and bent down, raised the light to the ceiling. It’s getting off the chain in there :sunglasses:

Comically, to me anyway, I thought yesterday the whole house reeked like some dank and I cranked up the fan not knowing S1 was vaping herself in the light. The 4" ACI exhaust is running 3-6 speed to keep temps in the flower area 70 at night and 75-77 during the"day"

Cheers :clinking_glasses:

Yeah the veg reservoir will only last 3 cycles but they did fine. Certainly a relief.

Did Germany legalize this week? How’s your SSH doing?

yes we did :innocent: :innocent:since yesterday we are legal in germany and it’s not a aprils fool

my ssh is doing well in matter of health. I’m a bit worried about the ripeness. today is flowering day 63 and they don’t look as if they’ll be ready any time soon. i also reckoned on 13 weeks with ssh. let’s see if that works out. i think 100 watts was a bit low for them. but the bill always comes last, doesn’t it? i’ll take a few photos as soon as the light is on and update my thread.

Getting ready for my 2-3 day adventure to see the eclipse. We’ll see if that works out.

Anyway, 2 weeks since last res change so drained, rinsed and refilled. Lowered the nutes a touch (~10%). 7.5 gallons RO, 1 gallon filtered but not RO, 96mL Canna Aqua Flores A and B, 1mL GG Monosilicic, 10mL HOCl. pH settled right on 5.70 and EC of 1.75mS. Which was a bit higher than I wanted, I’ve been getting 1.85-1.94 with 110mL of each A and B. It seems clear to me I’m running a bit hotter than needed based on the leaves and the plants. So a small, but deliberate step hopefully towards better balance and smoke.

Today marks 6 weeks gone for most of the ladies except the Runtz x Sour Bubbles.

I took them all out for inspection and photos.

907 Blue Genes x NL #1

Here’s the lineup:

N4 is my favorite, she has a squashed fat stalk and wide cola. Smelling fruity and woody notes. Here’s a side (skinny side) view:

Overall notes, wide variation in structure/speed/frost variation but smells are similar to each other.

907 Blue Genes x Shiskeberry #3

Here’s the lineup:

After examining the NL crosses, it really struck me how wide the variation is here in the terp profiles. S3 on the right has a strong burnt rubber thing going on, while S1 has no hint of that at all - just fruity. S3 burnt her top in the light earlier in the week, in the photo it almost resembles botrytis but it certainly doesn’t look like that in person. Considered chopping it off but haven’t.

S3 smelling like a drag strip, consistent with her desire to encrispen in the lamp. Pretty though:

S1 looks almost like a nanner up top but on closer inspection I THINK it’s a leaf that is a little bleached. Please give your opinions! I’ve not seen a nanner other than ones I’ve made deliberately.

In summary, I really like the smell and production of S1 but the potential nannerism is a turn-off. S3 is a vigorous plant but really not the terp profile my nose favors. Perhaps the effects will make up for it. Smells like a knock-out punch.

Runtz x Sour Bubble

@Fuel here’s your update curious what SPG traits you may recognize.

R3 is farthest along in exiting week 6 (42 days flower). R4/5 took longer to root are are just at day 35. All smell acrid with a hint of sweet, the sweetest being this R3:

I don’t know. Maybe it’s because I didn’t make these seeds I feel less attached or attracted to them. They look and smell like great weed. Definately lower on production at this point than the other crosses. It’s just different. I don’t care for them as much as the others.

General

It’s truely fascinating to me to have all these plants flowering at the same time, 3 of each line. Noticing the differences between expressions and growth habits is hugely educational.

N4 right in the middle there with the stacked bud

Staggered by height so the little Solo cup challenge entrants get some light. Gave those girls a trim this morning.

I think N4, S1 and S3 are going to get a run outside this summer. The stark difference in terp profile between S1 and S3 is quite a curiosity to me.

Tomorrow I’ll tend the veg side, which has become a ridiculous jungle. Next weekend I’ll decide what to cut for clones and maybe start some beans for outdoor.

Cheers, hope you all have a great weekend! As always, I appreciate all the guidance and help that’s gotten me to this point. Quite a wonderful little adventure to start this year. :sunglasses:

You’re going to have a good variety of smoke soon! Do you plan to keep the indoor garden going over the summer?

It does look like a little bleached leaf to me also. I’d give it a tug w/ tweezers to be sure, nanners pop out easily (in my experience) where the leaf should be hard to pull out.

That N4 is looking pretty :+1: Enjoy the eclipse!

I keep the plants back 90cm from the light. They get seriously yellow if they are too close!

Thanks guys!

I’m stoked for smoking some of this. It’s awesome to have this just in the closet outside.

Outdoor season maybe starting without me…noticed this outside in the Panalawi planter from last summer.

Should be the Panama/Malawi x Zamaldelica cross. Debating leaving it or moving it into the ground somewhere in the yard.

I’ll give this a go when the lights come on.

I can’t afford 90cm, I assume you mean 9cm? That’s about where things are at. Most of the buds are 1000-1500umol depending on where and how high, but it’s really nice and uniform coverage ~10cm away. The lenses seem to do a beautiful job of distribution.

Got my mom’s pruned up and doped their feed for cuttings. Regular 9mL/gallon Canna Aqua Vega A and B, 1.25mL Super thrive and 2g of Sea-K.

Next weekend I’ll be taking some cuts for outside.

Mommas were fat I can’t believe they all came out of a 10"x20" tray

Clipped up, doped up with K and hormones, and jammed back inside

Weed salad for the garden beds

Finished organizing seeds last night. Feels good to have everything in its place.

I got some real gems from folks on here :cowboy_hat_face:

Thanks for everything and happy weekend!

They are these: 81Pcs 2ml Cryo Tubes Plastic Small Vials with Screw Caps Graduated Plastic Cryovial Cryogenic Vial Tubes, PP Material, Free from DNase, RNase, Human DNA https://a.co/d/9DwhOko

Stuffed into a $20 “Diet Coke” beverage cooler

I put a few dessicant beads in the bottom, bit of cotton, seeds, and another bit of cotton. Label and seal up.

I have a spreadsheet tracking everything and their index so it’s easy to pull a vial without warming everything up

I copied your system earlier this year and took over a corner of my better halfs wine fridge  Works great for keeping the small number of seeds I have. Good to see you’re still using it
