First Bodhi Grow: Staff of Life

Hey Growmies!!! I am excited to catch you up on my first grow of Bodhi seeds that I acquired from @IgrowBodhiandCSI . Over the last few months, I have acquired several packs of Bodhi seeds from various seedbanks and a few on here from some incredible members of our community.

Out of all my Bodhi seeds I decided to go with Staff of Life as its lineage has me intrigued. I am noticing cultivars with Northern Lights/lite and Thai genetics just catch my attention. One aspect of this grow that will give me a test is being cautious of the amount of nutrients as its seems to prefer less nitrogen and keeping an eye on clawing.

So the first issues I experienced was some of the seedling stems laying down. I used some of my stones to help the one struggling the most. Everyone correctly shortly afterwards.

Everyone started out growing their solo cups and developed great roots that was originally started in Promix HP. Once I got one of the Staff of Life in their new homes I ran out of Promix HP…
Since I am working on another project I decided to have these transplanted into a mix of FoxFarm Ocean Forest and Happy Frog. About a 60:40 ratio. The down fall of this is watering does take longer compared to the Promix. Recenlty learned Promix has an organic option that I may look into for my next round. Think I used 8 bags in total  luckily, my local hardware store had a sale on their soil the weekend I got everyone in their new homes.

So far everyone has adjusted well. :call_me_hand:

Nice man, looking good! :fire:

My solution to this problem:

A twist tie with a lil U-shaped cradle. Set the head in the rest and move it however you need it positioned! Just don’t use cheap twist ties, splurge for the good ones lol

I will keep this in mind! Thank you

This is my solution as well :+1:
Finally! Years worth of saving twist ties “because this will be handy one day” has paid off!

When you showed me the photo of this pack I couldn’t wait for you to pop them.
Seed reproduction or just for flower?

I usually don’t fill my soil as high in the container at first, then if the seedlings start stretching and getting leggy, I just fill more soil around the stem for support.

Everything looking great now though.

Seed reproduction :slightly_smiling_face: I am growing out half the pack and will do the other portion later for flower and pollen preservation. I am guessing I have an even split between the sexes but we will see.

That could be reacting to too much light intensity. It has happened to me.

You mean with the seedling laying on their sides?

Yes. Some people look it as being weak but you see it is actually stronger because it was holding itself up, sideways.

Moving them farther away from light usually works. If they’ve already grown too long, sometimes I bury that in the ground also and just put another cup underneath or build upon it. Sometimes it is not necessary and only changing light intensity will matter.

I haven’t had this issue till I started growing regular cannabis seeds. That is a good way to look at the side leaners. I did bury the stems with my Hawaiian Lites as they were stuck in the humidity dome for longer than I wanted as I had 4 plants to trim up that week. They also grew much faster than I anticipated.

Another thought I had was maybe with Promix HP I need to bury them more as I never had this issue using soil either. I dont mind giving them some support with the various agates and other stones I have

I will keep the lights height in mind for the future too. Thanks for all the comments Growmies! :call_me_hand:

Ive had the same thing happening with my nevilles hazes. Just super tall and they all flopped over, after 4 days all are growing perfectly. First time its ever happened to me. I think i may have also buried mine too shallow now that you mention it. Good luck on your grow

This tent is VERY full!!! My Triple Purple Rhino was moved to my flowering tent to see what the sex was. Go check out my disappointment in that thread

After watering everyone I have found that there are four confirmed females and suspecting two males. All the confirmed female I fimmed the very top growth as I have done with my feminized plants previously grown. This will be my first time doing so with regular plants. May aslo use my LST clips as I had great results with my Apple Fritters I harvested during the summer months.

Three of the females I suspected to be males as the spacing between then nodes was my first guess. Then one of the females is more stout and bushy. You can see the comparison between the tallest to the shortest. I have not done any stem rubs yet but get a good musty smell when I step in my basement. Pretty sure it is these SoL as my dehumidifier in my basement reads at 35%.

I guess the more girls the better so I can give out more seeds and give plenty back to @IgrowBodhiandCSI . If there is going to be only one or two males I may just do an open pollination in my flowering tent for the first time instead of controlled.
