First indoor clone questions

Hello. So, I was given a couple clones recently, and I’ve never grown one indoors before. one of them I almost killed and is in the recovery dome, but the healthier one is getting a tad tall and I’m not really sure what to expect. I placed them in a 1 gallon, but plan on transplanting soon because I see roots coming out of the bottom.

So, here’s the story with the Dominion, and I’m really sore about this one. I went fishing and realized I forgot to water the plants in the veg tent. I got home and saw the skush weeping. The pot felt light, so I watered it. That evening I saw no change so I figured I’d re transplant it into some fresh soil (I use Bio365 bioall for everything in veg). In the process of transplanting, I accidentally pulled it out of the plug. Smooth. I wasn’t sure what to do and a buddy recommended I soak a Rockwool cube in clonex solution, recut at the joint and dabbing cloning gel and into the cube. I’m not sure if the method on toothpicks works, but it sits just in the water, and that gets changed daily. *** Please recommend another method if this isn’t good***

Anyways. I really hope that one makes it.

The compound California Rasins is getting tall, but when I repot, is it recommended to top these beforehand? Also, do I plant deeper? It looks like it’s recovering well, but it definitely needs a new home. Also, do I veg these as long as I would any plant from seed? Thanks!!!

Good morning puffalo.

Sounds like your friend gave you good advice on taking another cutting… was it not really rooted when you got it?

Is that rockwool cube sitting in water?

Topping: long answer upto you, space, time etc…. Short answer: yes top them.

You can bury a lot off stem when you transplant if that is what you mean.

Veg time will be shorter than seeds to get similar sized plants.

Hope this helps some.

It was rooted when I got it, but looked like shit a couple days later. I pulled it out by accident, so I had to redo it. The Rockwool is sitting maybe 1/4 into the water to keep it wet and it’s under a dome. I hope I can save it. It does look better than it did prior to messing it up

This is a good sign. :call_me_hand:

i made a humidity dome from a couple of small totes and some wire fencing. put an airstone in the bottom and cover it with water and let the rockwool cubes sit about an inch over the water level so the bubbles moisten it. use the other clear container as a dome upside down over the top and put a small flourescent light over it. i clipped the leaves in half because it was how i was shown and it has always worked, not sure why though, something about reducing humidity or something. see picture attached.

It isn’t the clearest pic but it looks like that clone may have been too wet and started to rot? Maybe that was why it popped out of the plug? I do see roots forming so it should hopefully make it as long as that darkness above the root area is dirt and it isn’t rotting
I have been using rockwool since the early 90’s and wouldn’t sit it in water… rockwool holds a perfect amount of moisture but when they are soaking like that they can hold way too much water and would be better off with a bubbler – similar to SFZombie13’s suggestion – or there might not be enough internal oxygen content in the rockwool and the clone could possibly rot. I would take that cube, shake it out a bit to remove some of it’s water, and either put it directly under the dome or put it on a small pile of field-capacity coco or soil under the dome. Best of luck! It looks healthy enough, all is not lost :call_me_hand:

Oh I’ve got my fingers crossed! I absolutely love anything from DUKE , and Skush is no exception so here’s hoping all goes well, I will second @herojuana.tom sugestion on not ovetsaturating the rockwool or you will get damping off or worse, for the dangling in water method it should be bare plant material (works best for me) you’ve got this :crossed_fingers:t2:

Thank you. Much appreciated. I’ll go home and take care of that in a little while.

Man, I was so excited to get this cut. It’s really hard to find, and I heard it’s one of the best freebies he’s ever had. I’m more excited for this over the compound. I really hope it works out.

Transplant completed and survived the night. This is a really awkward plant to try and top. I’m honestly not quite sure what to do here. Maybe I’ll just leave her and flip

For me it really looks dehydrated…

Looks good to me. I’d wait for some new growth before topping. Give her a little break from the stress. Looks good though man.

You aren’t wrong. This was just after transplant. I did let the 1g dry out a little prior to moving it into a bigger pot.

So, I ended up taking it in a place I never really thought of. I saw a decent canopy area, so I took it at the node just above, and put the top in an aerocloner I just set up. I spoke to someone who grew this one out and he said it’s a stretcher and would’ve been taller than me if I didn’t take it lower.

The roots looked good after 2 weeks. I love bio364 soil

So stoked that skush made it! And can’t wait to see her grown out…. Got my fingers, toes crossed :crossed_fingers:t3: that one makes it’s way over here, I absolutely love dukes work but finding ANY (seeds or clones) over here is virtually impossible
