Good Evening @Tlander

The Water situation must be a daily battle. Have you made any efforts during the Rainy seasons to capture water?

I know thats a huge task/undertaking, just wondering if you’ve wrestled the idea?

Thank you so much for posting those pictures of your land @Tlander . I have been a practicing Buddhist for 45 + years and have read many stories about the “Forest Monks” in Thailand. Those pictures make all those stories come alive. :rainbow:

Yo Missin! Yeah, I’ve toyed with it, but there are a number of obstacles. First you need a big enough tank to hold it when it all comes at once! I have 180,000 liter in-ground cement tank at the bottom of the mountain and another 100,000 l. at the top, which then gravity feeds (in the end) to me back at the almost the bottom! Besides the huge costs to excavate and build, it’s gotta be ‘perfect’ with no cracking or seam leaks. I’ve been 23 years on this system and it’s still holding up fine, but if I were to build another for rainwater collection it then needs to get hooked into the other system for distribution or I’d need an entirely separate parallel system and pumps! The biggest barrier is working out if it would really save me more than it would cost? It’s gotta be big enough to hold enough to last throughout the (majority) dry times or it’s just a band-aid. Plus, I need to factor in how much time I’ll be around to actually benefit from it at this stage of my life! :joy:

Haa, haa, haa! Magu, I used to run a “Landscaping for the Stars” business over here. The Thai version of ‘Architectural Digest’ used to come w/a team and photograph my jobs and do stories about them for the magazine, which just brought me more exposure and work. One year they said they wanted to do a story on me and my house. I live in what’s now called a tiny house, hidden away by the foliage of massive amounts of mostly seed-grown rare plants & trees. When the magazine came out they sent me copies. I laughed when I saw the title; "The Hermit in the Coconut Hut"! :joy:

:call_me_hand:

@Upstate Thanks bro! Yeah, I’m thinking of moving her outdoors, but I’m afraid with the bugs over here she’ll be destroyed over the next 6 months or so. I’ll probably do it anyway! :upside_down_face: But you’re right, there’s a ton of back-ups around here anyway. And the Tirah Valley x Peshawar’s should be coming along soon too!

A little under three hours to go! Think I’m gonna make it!

Thanks everybody! Stellar afternoon/night at the coolest old beach bar with a group of the greatest friends a guy could hope for! Nice shady spot under the trees and a steady cool breeze off the ocean, almost full moon shining down on us and adding a sparkle to the ocean. The Powie Wowie party favors were a hit with all involved, although there was a contingent that were opting for edible Kashmiri hash in Cocoa powder! Everybody’s local favorite chef brought a hugenormous tray of the most mouthwatering Macadamia nut brownies anyone had ever tasted, just moist -melt in your mouth goodness!

The kids had a blast with the paddle ball on the beach in in the end I think most everyone but me had a go, to much laughter at our collective clumsiness! I’m way too high to deal with downloading pics so will save that for tomorrow…perhaps?

Before I sign off and contemplate the last year in review, I want to put out a HUGE thank you to all my friends here on OG! You guys have been a big part of why I somehow managed to make it through the last year’s challenges. It’s been a very rough year, but it’s also been the one I have been the most ‘present’ for in my life. And, due to all of you, following along, sharing your insights, dropping comments, not to mention incredible beans, that I’ve been able to muster the drive to carry on. I’m still facing some big challenges and there’s been an uptick in the pain levels, but there’s bean’s enough for a few lifetimes awaiting and it looks like T’land will have until the end of the year before things change, so onward I go, for as far as the road will take me! Thanks again for comin’ along for the ride!

Just don’t wanna lose this URL…Maybe of interest to others?

Party time!

My crew & Family Glad to see ‘somebody’ was keeping a close eye on the cake so I didn’t drop it!

A couple of the several cakes!

And another B-day card from @Drsunshinestrains

(Most of) late-afternoon Gang

The “Goddess of the Chocolate Brownies”!

The kids had a ball swimmin’, swinging and gobbling down cakes!

Everything got a little ‘blurry’ after sundown!

It’s now occurred to me that next year, should I be so lucky to make it, will be 69/420!

Meanwhile, got a bunch of transplanting of Solo’s to 2 gallon airpots done today and then went to check on the upper greenhouse… was bummed to confirm that one of the Old Silver Thai @Upstate in a 3 gallon is a male.

I decided I’d chop him back pretty hard and see if I can keep him around until he’s needed.

Hey, has anybody come across any of these style branch benders anywhere? Of all the ones I’ve tried, I like these the best, but now I can’t find 'em anywhere! Really want the file to 3D print them in various sizes. @Bobgrows @Mr.Sparkle @Bob13

Good news! The 25x 15+ gallon white fabric bags arrived and they’re TALL, look more like 18 gallon! Okay, that’s about it for today guys! I need a bit more ‘recovery’ time I think!
Thanks for all the BD/420 wishes!

Wow I was unaware of the existing system that you’ve been utilizing.

Totally puts your operation into the Huge Stage when you already have a System that large in place.

Raising that Bar on doing it outside, and doing it right @Tlander.

Please, Don’t let me slow you down Brother! Have a great Day

Thanks for the details!!!

And Happy Birthday !!!

Well, it’s still hot as hell here! Been getting calls from around the island celebrating the arrival of the rains…but there’s not been a drop here yet! On my way back from the doc’s I asked my driver to swing by the hardware store and I picked up a gallon of white latex exterior paint…there went the afternoon! But hopefully to a good cause!

Got all the 3 gallons in the upper greenhouse done! Only 343 more to go! :upside_down_face:

The Durban Venon are lookin’ good! @Jimdoors

One more day! :joy:

Another hot one and still not a drop here. Did manage to get a start on the Peshawar “Joe” @Upstate grove under the palms. Not sure how they’ll fare out in the open, but the Upper Greenhouse was getting too full and there’s more on the way! Think the area will have to be a ‘shared space’; the Peshawars, the Old Silver Thai, the Red Thai and possibly the Colombian Gold x Cobra Lips could all be considered reasonably close. Oh, and the Tirah Valley x Peshawar!

Anyway, snapped a couple shots of the new digs…think all of these are the Peshawar Joe’s

The new bags, when I pulled 'em outta the pac, are actually looking to me to be 30 gallons, not the 15 gallon ones I ordered! So for now I’m just rolling 'em down a ways. We can top-dress these plants all the way through flowering, plenty of room!

Gonna have to put in a new drip system before they start to flower, but there’s sprinklers there for the palms and multiple hoses in the area. Until there get to be too many, it shouldn’t be a problem to keep 'em hydrated.

Okay, dinnertime! Have a great one guys!
