Well that’s smart. I wouldn’t have thought to do that. Everything is looking good brother! When would you expect flowering should begin? August.
Or september?
Between work and experimenting, I have been slammed. The stereotype about Japanese companies just working you to death is true: work noon 'till midnight every day except Sunday.
Anyway, I have been experimenting with the Powie Pink seeds.
The ones that were black with tiger stripes grew dark pink with less greenery.
I was planning to toss the (non-pink plants) when I noticed the fat brown Powie Pink seeds are growing green, but each with the (backward leaves) mutation I have been trying to incorporate in the strain.
I am thinking of going with the hardcore pink/purp plants as "Powie Pink: cuz they are pink, and call the seeds taking after the Indica dad (Powie Wowie) side something that is a play on the backward leave fronds. Like PP Devil Horns or something…
Any thoughts?
.
I love it! Hey, they’re all yours to name as you please! Hope you catch a break w/work…how do you find time to breed too! I really should have paid closer attention to the individual seed coloration I guess! I’ve been watching for the first of those Devil’s Horns to appear but haven’t seen one yet. If you can ‘make’ that trait “part of the package” it’ll be a real legend! I got Powie Wowie, Powie Poison and Powie Pineapple from you in the first round and am pleased with them all. The PW is the one that we’ve actually harvested, dried and started curing and it’s just gorgeous! Everybody that’s tried smoking it has loved it! My trimmer handed me a pizza box full of dried, manicured PW to judge on ‘doneness’ today and I was blown away how nice they looked/felt (w/o even smoking any! ) I really like the look of the Powie Pinks on the website, if they arrive in the mailbox someday I’ll be sure to plant 'em!
Today I did an experiment putting in 10 of your Powie Poison and 10 Soul Mate direct seeded (without soaking). I’ve been having some germination ‘issues’ for a month or two now and while it may be due to our crazy high temps and low humidity levels, I have to try something else! Threw in another 20 Faux Mac1 x AVC F1 beans just for giggles! Oh, and another 5 of Soul Mate from @THCeed and 5 of @Budderton 's LA Affie #11 x Afghan HP! It’s getting pretty eclectic around here now!
Moved another Peshawar and a Old Silver Thai out to the palm grove and into new bigger bags. Had to chop one of the Zacatecas x Michoacan plants that got hit all over w/budrot. There’s only 7 plants left in there and it’s gonna get chalked up as a “L”! Realized today I’ll be bummed to chop 'em all while in bud and feed 'em to the chickens, but it might be best for moving onward. Lesson learned - Sea of Green in confined, enclosed space w/o dehumid is a waste of time, energy and beans!
@Upstate I’m just gonna go with the flow! Besides being my first time w/these Sativa’s, my mind is so RSO-addled that I can’t keep track of anything, so they’ll be done when they’re done. I’d ‘expect’ that they’d start flowering in Aug, but wouldn’t be surprised if a few start to pop off early (fine w/me!). My biggest worry is that some may start to show sex now and then want to revert to veg. Guess it would be a good heads up for who to keep around. I’d almost swear I could see a couple ball-sacks forming on two of them already! Monsoon (our BIG one, can come anytime from October on!
Been studying uP on what I can do w/my roots. Seems there are some terpenes and cannabinoids that are pretty much exclusively in the roots of the plant. Friends that have tried ‘teas’ have turned me off on that idea (though there’s a great thread here on OG about some combo blends people swear are great tasting!). So apparently a salve made with water-extracted compounds then combined with coconut oil and then frozed creates a layer atop the water/ice which can be lifted off and jared up. Supposed to be excellent for cramping from the medical Journals I’ve read and I do get the occasional charlie-horse. Well, just so happens that I had 42 small, short-season plants that I yanked the roots of, washed and air-dried in net bags for 2 weeks. Yeah, I’ll chop uP those thicker root parts with the appropriate clippers, might be something ‘special’ in there. Tonight was the beginning of the processing… Who knows when I’ll get around to the next step(s)???
Considering that the instructions call for cooking the roots at a low boil for 24 hours…and the fact that I’m back on the RSO…THAT Ain’t gonna happen! But I’m thinking it’s so fkn hot here these days I’m gonna put 'em in water in a big glass jug w/lid, wrap it in black plastic and set it out in the full sun for a few days. Maybe pull off the cover to look at color change every few days??? Wish me luck!
Well, can’t quite believe those were the only 2 pictures I took all day! This might be the start of the new year’s routine changes…don’t know if I can keep up w/ both the plants AND the photo posting! Have a great one everybody!
Okay, made up for yesterday’s lack of photos before 11 am!
Starting out w/ the little ones…
On to the bigger gals…
What a “chunker”!
Think I’m see balls forming…bummer! @Upstate
Okay, back to work!
Too bad! Nice looking plant. Hoping you get a lady. How many chances left? Just one?
Yobro! I 'think there are 3, but there’s getting to be so many plants around it’s pretty hard to keep track! We yanked the oldest Peshawar plant and moved it outside tonight. My foreman said he spotted some mealy bug activity and thought it best to move it out right away. I’ve been tied up transplanting and painting loads more of those black square pots white. Realizing I didn’t think it through well enough - should have bought a compressor and spray rig…the mini-roller is gonna take forever to finish 360 of them! I’d be lucky if I’ve done the first 50 so far!
Lots of work painting! As an alternative , an old t shirt with a slit Cut into it adds a white cover To a black pot. I’ve been using cloth as mulch for a few years now.
Glad you moved that Peshawar. Not worth risking messing up other plants. Don’t be afraid to axe that one if you have to.
555! Yeah, good idea! Thanks bro! I scored 360 of those square pots from a going-out-of-business grower and I love ‘em for short season or just a shitload of smallish plants! Those last Mac1 x AVC that were 2’ WonderBudz comes to mind! They have an insert bottom that stands on 4 legs, so there’s room for them to sit in a tray filled with water which deters the ants from carrying up mealy bugs, aphids, etc. But 360 tee shirts won’t work for me, last long season I had to give away all my clothes in the wardrobe to make room for jars! I said to the guys that we’ve got a few extra bales of rice straw under tarps and we should really just heavily mulch all those now in the big bags. I saw an article in the Bangkok Post today saying the “Feels Like” temp was 52+ degrees C. (125 F!) ! It’s just crazy hot! So far, 30 people have dropped dead from heat exhaustion.
I had a look at the big Pesh at sunset tonight and snapped a picture of it and a couple of the buds for you. They aren’t gonna be worth trying to save I don’t think…revegging already and pretty sparse. But there are a ton more comin’ along just behind her! Might still be fun to stick it in a hole in the ground somewhere around here! I’ll try to post the photos later tonight.
Another hot one! But managed to remember to take pics today.
In the tables…got a bit more transplanting done. Just loving the look of the Soulmates & Baja Blasts, Powie Poisons & Sherbangers! Thanks guys! @BobbyBudz @Drsunshinestrains @THCeed @Budderton @Roms @Upstate @Jimdoors I hope I didn’t forget anybody who’s kids are shown here?
Under the Palms… We got a few more transplanted uP into the big bags today and I remembered having stashed a couple bales of rice straw under some tarps so mulched everybody down and watered 'em all deeply. They sure looked happier by about 4 pm!
Upper shadehouse…
Gonna have to give this one the chop tomorrow, bummer, really put on some good size in the last week.
I have no idea when these will be “Done” or any idea how many weeks they’ve been flowering already! But I’m really looking forward trying these Durban Venom out!
Faux Mac1 x AVC, I keep saying, “One more day”!
Dinnertime! Might make it back with the seedling stories later…or not? Thanks for dropping by!
Looking good @Tlander . What is the background story on that “Red thai” plant?
Right on TL! It’s nice to see all those sativa dom plants going. They seem to do better overthere then the Affies and polys.
I heard from my Filipino employee that it’s 49°C in the Philippines these days. My old, cold acclimatized ass won’t go outside if it’s over 27°! I don’t know how you manage to get anything done through the day! Maybe it’s because you’re already one cool cat!
Looking forward to seeing how the CG x CL progresses. You’re the first to pop those Landrace x Chem hybrids.
Thanks Magu! You’re asking the wrong guy! My memory left me when I started in on the RSO last year. Best I recall, it was a gift from Roms, but he’s probably corrected me w/better info a couple times already! I think I have two of them running right now and 2 or 3 more of the Old Silver Thai from Upstate. Gonna keep an eye on how many m/fm we get…probably keep the males chopped back and stashed way up the driveway until we see who’s what!
Well, @BobbyBudz ;s bean come through again! Powie Poison - 9/10, Soulmate 9/10! And I’m betting on the remaining 2 to make an appearance anytime! However still getting BS germ on the faux Mac1 x AVC f1’s I made…1/20!
Found one of the large Peshawars throwing out balls this morning. Gave him a crew-cut and will deal with him tomorrow. Getting a little concerned about the number of males or what I think are gonna be males, in the big bags and 3 gallons. There are a lot of them taking up a lot of space and soil!
When I cut him back hard I noticed that the stems on these are quite hollow. Wondering if that isn’t the likely cause of ‘knuckle-buster’ problems on these…and perhaps also something to do with that High-temp wilt-down I saw earlier on the biggest girl? (Probably shouldn’t have used the flash…can’t see how hollow they really are).
Few other things that caught my eye…
Screen of Green still hangin’ in there!
Okay, I’m ready for a lazy Sunday afternoon!! Have a great one whatever day it is where you are!
By the way…here’s a little youtube video for the hasher’s…“Tirah Maidan Charas Mandi, Pakistan - Asia’s Largest Marijuana Market, Mandi In Pakistan” Be prepared to have your mind blown!
Awoke to find some MFK’in creature had chewed the tops off of half a dozen seedling is Solo’s and another half dozen in the plug trays! Arrrrgggghhh! Real bummer…2 were Budderton’s Affie #11 x Afghani HP!
At least they didn’t go for all of them!
Speaking of “Chomping”… Still, “One more Day”! on the Faux Mac1 x AVC
And a few profiles for the kind donors… Thanks guys!
The Old Silver Thai confirmed itself as male today… @Upstate
Shortly thereafter…
These “Group A” plants were f2’s from the ones I forgot to label in the Solo’s last short season…
@Budderton Got a few of these Lemon Slush scattered about… seems to me I have a male uP the driveway too…I better check on that tomorrow!
Spent most of the day moving stuff to the shade, pruning off dead leaves/branches off the trees, watering and mulching like crazy! Went through another 2 bales of rice straw on just the palms today. At least we caught a little bit of cloud cover for a couple hours. Pulled all but 2 of the Zacatecas x Michoacan out of the Sea of Green setup. Just too damn hot and not enough air movement inside. Gonna check 'em out tomorrow and see if they look like they’d be worth saving. With the hot season full upon us, I noticed the plastic roof on that greenhouse has already started to shred itself! Not sure but I don’t think it’s even been 3 months yet! E&F is pretty much packed full. Starting to get the newly painted white square pots prepped for what’s gonna be an epic transplanting session, probably next week. Meanwhile transplanted a couple more into big bags in the upper greenhouse and did a test of the palm`grove sprinklers…no damage except a few lower branches dragging on the straw,
Tomorrow’s Payroll Day, Doctor Day, PO Day and Banking Day…not sure if I’ll make it here to post anything! Hope you all have a great day!
Glad to hear it’s been cloudy at least TL. I guess it doesn’t help much if the wind feels like it coming straight out of a blow dryer !
Bummer about the seedlings, just not meant to be and critters gotta eat I suppose . Besides, I don’t think those Affies like growing normal over there, if I remember correctly. I’ll send you some flips of the Dwarf Affie F3s when they’re done and ready to ship. I’d love to see what they do, down in the tropics. Probably grow into giants!
The Lemon Slush look like they’re behaving though. I hope they run well for you because they make a lovely, flavorful flower.
Anyhow, have a good Doc visit and best of luck at the PO Box tomorrow!
Hey @Tlander!
Everything is looking great!
Shame about the varmit getting into your starts, I’d set up a few glue traps around the area…could work I suppose.
the plants looking that good in this heat is a testament to how good you are!
Its so hot Ive been seeing aircon repairmen all over the city fixing em… haha
So far there have been 30 people here that died of heat stroke since the hot season started and it seems to be getting worse.
Good luck tomorrow at the doctor!
Stay hydrated my friend!!
Cheers bro!
These all look sweet!, except for the ones that were eaten, of course.
My security system consisted of mantises for everything inside and an old pitt/bulldog for everything bigger (like Fkn fruit rats!).
Gus passed away last week, and I have been kind of a wreck without him. Why I have been gone awhile.
A puppy crossed my path two days ago (Bull Dog/American Bully mom, and the neighbor’s bull mastiff).
He was the runt (7 weeks) and needed a home because he wasn’t doing well.
Now, I am telling this new puppy all the stories about my old friend Gus, and it’s very therapeutic.
All for now, puppy is gonna blow.
Yo Bobby, sorry to hear about the loss of Gus. But great that a newcomer showed up so fast. Here too! New pup…
It’s Labor Day here, so the crew has the day off. I’ve just been transplanting, watering and taking it easy. We’ve had the first real clouds passing in front of the Sun about 1/3 of the day…still not a single drop of rain, but at least it feels like a possibility!
Pretty much only took pics in the E&F table room this morning…gettin’ pretty crowded in there! Not too bad…considering it’s been between 90 - 105 degrees F every day for almost a month now! A few ‘not-so-happy’ plants, but overall it’s miraculous they look as good as they do in the enclosed space.
Okay, wandered a bit farther this afternoon. Other than a little transplanting, seems like all I got done was watering…but that took all day! Burned a bit more of @Drsunshinestrains 's Popsicle #4 and it proved itself again to be great ‘get-it-done’ weed! With all the RSO in my system, I’m a lite-weight when it comes to smoking…but this has such a nice taste and I only do a single glass bowl at a time…might be knockout weed as a doobie! Thanks bro!
@Jimdoors Like I said, no idea how long these have been ‘in-flower’ nor how much longer they will go? Still seeing new white pistils every day…kinda want to let this one run. Hmmm, might have to cut one earlier and 2 later and see which I like more. The outdoor seeded plant has much smaller buds, or at least they don’t form up to make colas. But it’s the only one that has retained the pink/purple pistils.
The lightly seeded DV outdoors…
@BobbyBudz There’s loads of BB’s stuff all around here now! (Lots more in the E&F tables above too!) And I’m real happy about it! I tried to pull a slightly yellowing leaf off of one of the Powie Poisons today and then had to spend 5 minutes sniffing my fingers! Still can’t even describe it, but I sure like it! It’s not at all “skunk” but the scent has that same effect - you sure ain’t gonna hide that in 2 ziplocks and go anywhere that heads aren’t gonna turn as you go past! And I think she’s only in about her third week of flowering!
Bobby sent along these ACE - Zacatecas Tribute beans as an ‘extra’. I’m REALLY liking the look of them! I pinched this one just as she started to flower and it shot off three colas. Gonna have to see if I planted them all? Seedfinder says; “The once revered and thought to be extinct in pure form: purple Zacatecas Mexican sativa, which is clearly present in Big Sur Holy Weed genetic heritage, kept as an IBL. Big Sur Holy weed is legendary in her own right, and it was crossed in this hybrid with of one of the top ten rarest legendary Mexican strains: Green Mountain Seeds’ exclusive Oaxacan Gold.” Gonna have to see if I noted the date of first flowering on the back of the tag? Thanks again Bobby!
Did a bit of a ‘Pinch-Fest’ on the plants amongst the palms. This whole area is almost all Sativa’s (for now) so I figure I better start in on them early before they get too tall to reach.
Bummer, another nice looking Peshawar male declared! @Upstate Still plenty more of them around, but this is about #3 or #4 now. Looks to me like one or two of the Colombian Gold x Cobra Lips are gonna go male too. @Budderton
Okay, hope you all have a great Labor Day! I gotta go do a “rain dance” out on the porch!
