very much apreciate this input @DopeKiller
as i know very little aboute males and only flowered one to fuck around and find out
so far i just grew 2 seeds he produce but my buddy got 12 going early this season and shared some with others he knew
from this experience im trying to learn about what happened with the progeny
buddy is growing labeled seeds i sorted
and i have asked him to smell the mother used for seeds to see if he recognized some of the terps in his flowers
so far i have 2 unlabeled seeds growing but by the bud rub and smell im positiv they are red runtz x punchline
they are not done yet and might yield a few grams i did not put any love into them it was just a litfa and see what comes out thing as i had plants i was more interested into securing their production
being familiar with red runtz (kinda) 3-4 runs into flower
im confident in seeing her in her progeny
but the punchline is a strain i grew very few and once
so i dont recognize his influence on the mother
I have a project ive been working on for 6+ years now, which is similar to yours. I started out with 1 cross, then have worked through over 100 seeds from that to âsiftâ and select F + M from that. Good luck! Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you donâtâŚ
Thats most of the issues involved, time + qty.
Nothing else can give you a better perspective.
When working with males itâs problematic, you need to grow a fair share in order to evaluate to progeny of it, and also have a sharp eye
This method is pretty much old school in todayâs modern techniques of reversing fems
The reason I told you itâs goals driven is because you need to set your priorities before spreading into several directions, define if you either wanna preserve your genetics in seed form, or reach better plants.
Both approaches compliment each other at the end but the route you need to take in order to reach either one is different.
When you have a killer cut and you wanna preserve it, you S1 it and hunt the line further, breeding out the bad and keeping the good, somewhere along the line youâll get the seeds to match your selected fem, itâs all about the % for consistency.
When you wanna breed aka make a better plant in order to potentially make seeds from it (not necessarily) you need to cross it and hunt the seeds until you find a good enough representation of your A plant and B plant in one plant.
From there you continue until you have âfixedâ sort of speak your perfect clone.
the road ahead looks more turbulent then i initially expected more crossroads and bumps if i could say it as such
if im to give specifics the real goal i have in minde is i love this plant i got from the seeds of @MissinBissin shes been the best in yield andstructur and her flowering time is not perfectly matched to my needs but she preety damn on the clock
the potency is not what im after and the terps are preety much all in the nose and less in the mouth
if i go the fem route i already have a few options on hand that could help out where she lacks wich i wouldnt need to hunt for
chem91 or TK would be interesting but id be scare to lose the flowering time of the Fighting bilbo if the timing would be to change id prefer it to be faster but longer and shes out of the garden
If potency and taste is not there, what is there to like ? Lol
I always always start with potency, taste 2nd, smell third.
Everything else unless itâs a straight non growing mutant is neglected.
As long as itâs growing right and healthy with no abnormal signs, I always select for PotencyTasteSmell first.
Start with a plant that has at least 1 strong trait you are interested in.
I prefer P but you can opt for any trait.
Greetings @amumayuk and Thanks for those Comments⌠always interesting to see what ResultsâŚ
Only the 2nd or 3rd one grown⌠So Congrats on all the work you put into the grow Buddy.
Hope that intensity picks up a bit for you in the cure. Both Parents are impressive Plants⌠Iâm still on your side Amu !!
i get that my priority might not be right but in my situation now being left unabled (little punny joke here) i like the structural sturdyness of the plant, the terp in the nose is great but its not much in the mouth
but for a strain that did what it did outdoors in my region its a winner in yield and visual
shes almost looking indoor for an outdoor grown in my area its preety surprising to see
That sounds very cool but a lil off point, you know we need to smoke the damn thing at the end haha
But, you can reach a good clone, it will just take more time as you are starting from scratch in terms of the final product traits which are most important.
Sounds like an endeavor, and itâs how amazing strains and phenos are made and found !
Wish you the best of luck
@missinbissin yeah its still early to fully judge her and her sister also but the early taste gives me a good preview its a bummer that the taste doesnt stand as much as the smell
the FB3 is FULL fruit smell you can easily smell both parents but imo its dominante on the father for taste as i have smoked an oz of SSH in the past and the tast in FB reminds me much the same lingering taste from SSH not too experienced with haze strain to fully assert this as such but it was not my prefered terp profile in taste
i am more on the sweet fruity side of the scale id say but terps from the kush lineage are not questionable gimme more please
last letter is in my fridge its not oppened yet but in our last discussion i know it should contain some fighting bilbo but i dont know if theres an extra included @MissinBissin
