Found my roots in Mapito

Lol.

My veg tent is now under control…flower looks OK but keeping an eye on it. Painful to track something down to kill em. Used permethrin .025%

Hmm not sure why I’m not getting notifications on my own thread.

Lots of journals to read @NorthernBreezy . Be sure to check out @ifish and his journal if you want to see what mapito perfection looks like!

I think so… going to back off on the feed a bit more. Just to dark and leathery for my liking.

How was triple burger ?

Did it live to the GMO stories !? I’m trying to find it hopefully I get lucky.

I remember coming across these years ago! Do they still make them. I see nothing on amazon.com. A site called “canadianpreparedness” came up in a search, and the site prices are in swedish kroners (or something?). Weird.

This site doesn’t exist anymore. Might find an alternative?

How did the “builders” rockwool (the batts from home improvement stores) work out if any of you guys tried that. I wondered that back in the day when I used grodan as well.

I was looking through some of that Limbo-Holland guy’s old videos on FreeTube. It appears as though both his water “tank” and his ebb/flow “grow tray” are made by hand of wood (OSB) and lined with basic poly/pand film. That’s good to know.
I’m currently using several home made “trays”, made from 2x4, 2x6, and OSB, and lined with a think clear poly sheeting.
And I’d wondered (and asked in one of my threads) about making a DIY reservoir or water tank in a similar manner, out of wood and lined with plastic or pond liner or similar.

Edit: Actually, I was specifically wondering about building some DIY troughs for RDWC. But pretty much the same thing anyways.

Make sure plastic is uv protected
Not like builders damp proof membrane

Probably a good tip. But there’s likely near no UV coming from anything in the indoor garden room, right? LED lighting. Still a good suggestion.
The plastic I used is quite think, but still doesn’t inspire confidence in it’s durability. If/when I make a new table or redo something, I’d opt for shower pan liner or pond liner, I think.

Another annoying thing is the big wrinkles in the plastic sheeting I got. It results in sub-optimal draining of water from the tray. Not having the drainage valleys/grooves like a proper ebb/flow tray does is a downside for sure. My plastic is hard to get to lay flat, let alone the wrinkles.

@ifish What does the foam chunks in the Mapito do?
I’ve heard of mapito/growpito with foam or with coco chunks. I’m kinda surprised coco chunks could be used in mapito that will be re-conditioned and used over and over. If that’s the case, I wonder if re-using regular coco coir (like cana coco) would be possible (with the same type of enzyme reconditioning treatment).

Plastic kiddie pools work well. I worked for Growpito a few years back and ended up with a few boxes of there product it has small foam chunks in it also.

Great product and very reusable just not really into growing in it.

When using crates. / tubs

We use lengths of square plastic condute so to raise tubs of the floor or something similar ( so tubs drain well , tubs should not sit on floor of table )

I assume all the different brands all use a different ngrediant to add to the rock wool , probably a trademark avoiding thing
Foam for added air , coco to help stable ph etc etc , im sure they all work well

Life challenges around thats time , house renovations , made me use up that rock wool from builders yard in other things ……… and I forgot to get back to that lol

Also to keep tray clean from rock wool fibers , line crates /tubs inside with weed control fabrick
