FourFour Outdoor - Bodhi, Dynasty, Lemon Tree, etc

Someone asked me awhile back to contribute to a coop and this is what I said…

There’s something about this batch of seeds that is unlike anything i’ve ever experienced.

I harvested one the second time and when I cut the stalk from the roots, the plant let out a sort of shriek but not audibly. I could basically feel its pain and it really freaked me out. I have since learned that plants can produce really low tones through vibration. It was basically experiencing “pain.”** This has never happened with any other strain i’ve grown. I’m not sure where it comes from. These plants were extremely adaptable and just overall amazing in every way. I’m guessing that within this seed line is a sort of “genius” cannabis plant.

They can self pollinate or just rotelize if pushed too long or stressed. This is most noticeable after 9 weeks. Something to think about if making seeds. I’m not sure I want to risk them going over the border. I only have 4 or 6 seeds left of this. In order to maintain the “intelligence,” we would need to have as many as possible for open pollination and not select for anything. This same stuff hasn’t happened in any other Appalachia crosses that I have ran. The intelligence and adaptability is always there to some degree though. I have theorized it could also have came from Dirty Hippy side. I have only grown one other dirty hippy cross and it leaned heavily to the other side. I have Snow Lotus seeds so was thinking of possibly creating a BX or finding my own dirty hippy snow lotus female and then getting some appalachia from H&L but it wouldnt be the same male and could definitely lose the magic.

** I have talked with one other person who has experienced this “feeling” and he was the one that pointed me to the studies on plant vibration when hurt/stressed etc.

Thanks for sharing! I wasn’t sure if you meant intelligence as in adapting to the environment and whatnot, or intelligence like real intelligence. Seems a little of both.

That’s pretty wild… Did you feel that same intelligence at all when you smoked it?
I’ve learned a lot about that sort of stuff with plants and trees, but haven’t experienced it myself (outside of a few mushroom trips…). The fact that I decided to plant the rest of my seeds and ended up with 2 out of 11, one male & one female to keep the line alive, felt pretty “meant to be”, to me anyway. Bodhi said they were special. Might be some extra magic in there…

Warning: hippy stuff.
There’s so much about the plant world that we don’t know. Or that we used to know and lost. Like with ayahuasca for example. Out of the tens of thousands of different plants in the Amazon rainforest, how did they find and mix the two that give people powerful visions? Like, it makes sense how people learned which plants were poisonous. They watched their friend eat some berries and puke his guts out. But trial and error doesn’t seem likely with ayahuasca, or nixtamalization of corn, or a hundred other examples. The shamans say that “the plants told them”. There are a ton of similar stories like that where the knowledge was given, not learned by experience. Aboriginals in Australia have the “Dreamtime” where they say a lot of their knowledge about the world comes from. Something that seems like ‘woo woo’ or ‘pseudoscience’ to us modern and civilized brainiacs is completely natural and self evident to people all around the world who lived connected to the nature for thousands of years. Anyway, I guess that’s just another example in a long line of times people have communicated with plants. I believe it.

Hahaha… I understand.

I dunno if it’s just gettin’ older or what, but it’s few and far between that I wanna get totally floored. Or not from weed, anyway. Hammered-drunk and high on blow is one thing, I know what’s gonna happen then, but I’m looking for a simple, pleasant experience from my weed.

Usually… haha.

That’s pretty cool, though, no? I like that, where you’re not super-lit, but you still feel it for hours. Kind of what I’m looking for all the time haha.

Oh, yeah, dude. It’s just people being “in tune” with shit.

I’ve often wondered the same stuff, but ultimately, some people know and some people don’t. Some figure it out and some never do. Some people are really observant and some people aren’t, even back 1000 years or 2000 years or however long ago. That’s why there were “shamans” and then there were other people who relied on them.

Who knows how many of those shamans were totally full of shit, though… haha.

Yeah it’s rad! It was totally unexpected too, which made it better. Now I’m hoping some of my plants are ‘non-keepers’ haha. I definitely like to have a range of different highs, but long-lasting ‘joint weed’ has jumped up the list.

I love blasting off. I have a buddy and every time we get together we will keep smoking until we can’t, but by myself (which is most of the time) I rarely go there. A lot of times I’ll smoke half a joint and put it down for a few hours, which I hate. If I roll a joint I want to burn it down. I’m hoping my biggest plants this year are joint weed haha.

Totally true. This is sort of related, but I was reading about a tribe in S. America, and how they decided who would become a shaman was they would give all the kids this big mug of tobacco mixed with water and make them drink it down. Whoever didn’t puke became the shaman. Not to see who was toughest or whatever, just that they have to be able to handle their shit to go deep with these plants. Tobacco was their biggest plant ally, so it basically ‘chose’ who would be the one to work with it.

That would be a good TV show haha.

Yeahhhh, I mean… Based on what? What really are the qualities for “keepers”? As far as I can tell, it’s whatever somebody thinks is gonna get other people the most fucked-up. Like, if they were distillers, they’d keep Everclear around instead of… I dunno. Something else haha.

What you like is what you like. Fuck everybody else. I’m not growing weed to impress other people.

Yeah it would. You’re giving me ideas. Shady Shaman. That’d be pretty funny. Just, like, this “holy man” in the jungles of South America who was totally not in tune with anything, completely oblivious and just wasted on ayahuasca and scotch all the time and taking advantage of the people in his tribe?

Yeah… Yeah… haha.

Yeah I don’t think about other people when I’m in my garden so I guess I shouldn’t when I’m posting in my thread… I just hate the mentality of “this plant wasn’t loud, it’s a piece of shit, I threw it in the trash and then spit on it”.

I’m happy having different qualities in different plants. One ‘potent’, one with great flavor, one with a high that lasts 4 hours, etc. Trying to find one plant that has everything is so unlikely and makes you not appreciate the ones that don’t check all the boxes.

I’ve never taken clones before until this year, but I kind of like your way of growing everything once, that’s it. Especially with so many seeds to grow out…

Hahah yes! Then he starts up an ayahuasca retreat for clueless tourists, pockets the money to fly in prostitutes and blow. Haha I think you’re on to something…

Haha, right. “I spit on the grave of that Goji OG f4.”

I get it. That’s why I always grow, like, four or five different things every time, too.

Yessssss! I didn’t even consider that aspect of the Shady Shaman, just totally taking advantage of dipshit hipsters looking for “enlightenment” and all that. I was more thinking, like, him just being a total piece of shit to his tribe, but yeah, an ayahuasca retreat thing would be hilarious.

This is good. This is an idea. This is a good idea. I’m constantly pitching ideas to a writer friend of mine who actually, you know, writes and does stuff with them (as opposed to me, who just talks about them). She’s going to New York next weekend to film something, but we’re supposed to hang out when she gets back. This is definitely something that should be discussed.

If anything ever happens with it, I’ll make sure you get some money for it.

I was gonna ask if you knew anyone you could pitch it to haha. It’s a great idea, I’d watch it right now! Let me know how it goes. I just want a free trip to South America for the filming.

I feel like 5-10 years ago it would’ve been too obscure, but everyone knows about ayahuasca retreats now. Shady Shaman on HBO… such a good name too.

I’ve never been interested in autoflowers. Like at all.
Don’t know why, because I love growing plants, and I love smoking weed, and the idea of going from seed to joint in 2-3 months seems like a no brainer. Yield and smoke quality are the downsides (allegedly, but I don’t know for sure because I haven’t smoked any autos), but I’m a lightweight, and I grow plenty of other non-autos to keep me happy.

Spring is too far away so I’m soaking in swamp juice (kelp water) 10 Gabagoo seeds (bred by a dude named Carty) that I bought from Johnny Potseed, because they were 10 bucks and he has the coolest logo out there. We’ll see what happens.

Thanks @AMunkFromCupertino for leading me down this rabbit hole.

I mean, she’s not that connected, but she’s a go-getter for sure. Definitely has more energy for actually making things happen than I do haha.

Yeah, right! You think any production company would actually spring to film in South America? They’d film it in Georgia (tax breaks for shooting there, despite everybody who lives there going on and on about how anti-“Hollywood” they are) or any other heavily-wooded area that could maybe, possibly, conceivably pass for “South America.”

They didn’t even film Ozark in the fucking Ozarks… Haha.

Bought? Are people selling seeds here? Because I’d really like to thin out my seed collection. I don’t wanna make money off it or anything, but I would like to recoup at least a little bit of it back.

Another good bit: Shady Shaman tells his tribe he needs to,”Disappear into the jungle for seven days… Alone… To find the answers…” on a Vision Quest-type thing and then he just goes to his condo in São Paulo and eats out at world-class restaurants every night and fucks high-priced escorts and shit.

Yeah, there may be something here.

Haha wishful thinking. Didn’t know about the Georgia tax break but I guess that’s the only way you could find a cheaper place than Missouri to film something…

Apparently. I think you have to be a sponsor though. You could exchange emails with people who were interested so you don’t get suspended for breaking the rules or whatever trying to sell on here. I’ve done a few trades where I’ve sent like 5 packs/partial packs for 2 to try and thin out my collection. That’s another option…

Dude Shady Shaman writes itself! I feel like we already have enough for two seasons haha.

Oh, yeah, I’ve just given away seeds, not even traded them, via DM. Probably given away like four-grand-worth of seed packs that I had actually paid for but lost interest in or somebody was reeeeeallllyyyy interested in them and so I was just like,”Okay, yeah, sure, I’ll send those to you.”I had money in the bank when I was doing that, though… Now I don’t haha.

Haha, yeah, I don’t know about a full-on multi-season Series series. Maybe just like a six- or eight-episode thing, where his tribe finally catches on that he’s been a shyster for decades in the final episode and kills him. But his death will still be funny.

@minitiger You’re forgetting about the lead up to the corruption. My first thought was like Life of Brian where everyone thinks he’s wise and powerful, but he’s just some guy. But instead of avoiding it he embraces the power and slowly starts to take advantage of it. I’d be fine with one season though haha.

*We interrupt this broadcast of Shady Shaman for a word from our sponsor: Weed!

I realized that most of the varieties I’m growing have blueberry genetics in them. Will be interesting to see similarities/differences between them all (hopefully there will be enough variation).

Kush4 x SSDD f2’s are still my favorite plants. My favorite plants don’t always produce my favorite buds to smoke as you all know, but the growing and the smoking are almost two separate things. I love both.

#1 2 and 3, in that order. Similar berry-forward smells. #1 is cool, it’s a really bushy plant with a lot of bud sites, but it has the skinniest leaves of the three, and I got a barnyard manure whiff on the stem rub. #3 is a couple weeks behind on flowering. I think #2 will smoke the best, based on a purely scientific gut feeling.

PS one great thing about how hardly anybody grows the seeds from all the seed increases and coop runs and whatnot, is that the people who do grow them will have access to more seeds if they want more.

Here’s the rest of the blueberry clan:

AKBB Vintage Blueberry

Dynasty Lezbluerado (Juicy Fruit x Afghani Kush x Black Mountain Kush is the mom)

Dynasty Blue Magoo bx3, Throwing Star pheno

The rest have the same dad, last year’s Blue Magoo bx3:

Dynasty Blue Magoo bx3 F2s

Obamagoo (Obama Kush mom)

PSH (~Power Plant x Oregon Skunk mom) - the first one is the looker, but the second one reminds me of the Power Plant, which I’m real excited about.

San Pueblo tobacco bud. First time growing a rustica variety

Dream Beaver in a pot, safe from the slugs

Lemon Tree, fighting off caterpillars. Haven’t very been consistent with IPM.

The 3 volunteers from commercial grow op potting soil are interesting. More fruity/berry smells, which really complement the fruity/berry smells of all the blueberry relatives (lol). One of them smells like Hawaiian Punch (not this one, this one is pretty and starting to get some purple)

Jack the Ripper f3

Last but not least, ‘Chem 91’

Nice shots & very cool to see all the plants you’re growing! What kind of camera setup are you using?

I remember Greasy seemed to have a high opinion of AKBB’s blueberry work. Interested to see how it all turns out for you.

Thanks! I’m using an old Nikon D5000 with Nikkor 55-200mm lens. I want to upgrade the lens eventually, but I’m still learning and messing around with different settings. Months ago I took a screenshot of one of your posts about the aperture, ISO, etc. that you use, so I owe some credit to you!

I asked AKBB and he said his blueberry line is separate from the DJ Short version. Right now mine smells more sweet/candy, less floral than the DJ BB crosses I have going.

I can see some similarities between dream beaver and chem 91.

I believe that the mitochondria in our cells and the cells of other animals and plants “share” an awareness. Just my personal theory.
