I just picked up manipuri from the real seed company along with cider kush. I am excited to run both and maybe cross them for another adventure.
I can’t guarantee 2 runs a year but if love to get a chance to preserve some rare stuff. Could affiliate growers say get in on other runs for a fee, that fee could go to aquiring new things to preserve
This is an awesome idea, I’d love to get involved in some fashion but will need to fully read all the terms and how it works.
Goodluck all and hope to be of some help, although not likely as a full member.
I am eyeballing a new tent for the manipuri adventure I just have to order it to come at the same time as the kitchen renovation to blend in.
We have talked about a limited release for a small fee to go to the server fund. And then, of course this is overgrow, so I’m sure some seeds will be passed around too. We don’t want this group to impede the overgrow spirit in any way, so once seeds are in the collections of The Freaker’s, they are Theirs to do with as they wish, and I would imagine anybody that was generous before it will be generous in that situation as well
That’s an excellent point. I imagine that most affiliate freaks will get seeds from all the runs. In the original iteration of the FBSC, we were gonna provide some amount of seeds via the Co-Op. I hope we’ll still be able to do that. We’ll run some server fund auctions, and it’d be cool to do something on 4/20.
Our primary means of distributing these seeds has always been through the OG community. The goal is preservation, so the more individuals we get seeds to, the closer we are achieving that goal.
We’re working on a signup process. We’re gonna post a poll with the descriptions, requirements, and benefits for being a Full Freak, and a Affiliate Freak, then you’ll pick which group you’ll be in for that year. Next January, we’ll post it again, and so on. As he always does, @Upstate has raised some excellent question about how this would work, and I haven’t had a chance to think it through yet, so that’s probably a few days out.
We want you to participate. No matter how you slice it, we’re looking at a multi-year project to grow these strains out, and right now, the limiting factor is growers. We’re adding strains a LOT faster than we’re growing them out, and given the number of seed junkies that are already involved, I expect that to be the case for some time.
Just curious but how will distributions work once seed runs are completed? Will the grower send the seeds back to the fbsc or to each member individually?
Isn’t Dr. Hook a veterinarian?
Kev
That’s a really good question. There’s so much to think of when starting an organization like this. Lots of times you don’t think of something until a question is raised or a situation arises. The fact is, it’s a lot of work mailing seeds out if there are lots to mail. Heck, I felt a little overwhelmed when I only had about 10 of them to send out. When it’s illegal in your state, you hate to put something like that in your mailbox all the time which means a trip to the post office instead… I give a lot of credit to the people that oversee Distribution on Overgrow. It’s a very selfless thing to do. I don’t think we have finalized how distribution will work yet. Soon.
I am also curiious. I understand the paranoia that comes with living in an illegal state, and wish I had an answer. I give a bunch of credit to those that do distributions since I am even paranoid being the receiver of mail, much less the sender. Don’t know if I could handle that. Cudos on ball size!!!
It is legal here plus I have my personal medical production papers . The funny part is it is completely illegal for me to make seeds or use any genetics that don’t come from LP’s lol Actually it is apparently illegal for me to even give someone a puff of my weed .
I didn’t listen when I grew illegally for 2 decades , I certainly am not going to listen to that non sense haha
The legal thing in the states is pretty much patchwork, and there are a whole lot of really strange situations legal-wise that crop up with this mess. Maybe someday, if I live that long, there will be some uniformity, not necc. uniform laws, but some better. Right now it is almost like prostitution. Legal in Nevada (exc. Las Vegas) and illegal everywhere else. I think the majority of the population lives in a state with at least medical. Just not me.
Here in Canada it was a pathetic attempt at a corporate takeover and has been a complete farce. From day one I have called it the green Enron . All it has been is greedy pigs trying to feed at the trough and failing at something that teenagers have done profitably for decades , and those teens sure didn’t have the police and government behind them.
TBH the situation in this country begs and calls to be overgrown . Pun absolutely intended
We had some discussions about that early on, but we never finalized how we were gonna do it. Then the entire thing got really big really fast. We had to rework everything, and we just haven’t got back to that one yet, but we will.
I was able to get Nick’s strain descriptions from Strainly.
That’s great! I can’t wait to find out what Caps is. White seeds with dark stripes, very unique looking
I have a pack of those Cherry Capz.
Are you guys all signed up over at soaknbeans.com? @Kakalak has a great place there. Come on over and check it out if you are not there already.
There is a thread there Landrace Preservation & Repopulation. I don’t know Dmd805 yet but check out his Dalat male! Not sure if there might be some pollen available for your Dalat run but would definitely be worth exploring when you see this male plant!
Yup that’s me! I found soaknbeanz right before I made an account here on OG. I actually already sent a few beans over to expand the gene pool.
Very cool. Sometimes I need a cross reference to keep track of who’s who
That is an absolutely beautiful male you found!
