I was one. I fully agree, I did it for one summer, a 89 day appointment which of course at the end I could have stayed. I used Disabled Vet points to get the job, it helped with starting graduate school and was a great experience. As I moved along into a long and successful career as a School Principal and Administrator I experienced staff who did take the “weird plastic crate” among other things like laptops, money, etc. They paid the price, losing job, license, restitution and some got some jail time. In my time at
the PO I never saw anyone do that

Couldn’t play the long game. I guess I just looked at the work like an investment. More like a savings bond. Do the job, pay attention to your retirement fund, and try to have some fun along the way, it’ll pay off.
