So I trimmed some lower branches (by mistake) and had these gel pots from a neighbour, so I trimmed the ends and threw them in. Whats the prediction? Will these root? Are they way too small??
Idk if itll root. That stuff if probaly poison or useless. Cheaper route would be to buy an aloe vera plant stick it in a filet then put it right in soil. Or even just a glass of water with aloe blended in it.
Even if they root I donāt think they would grow any bigger than they currently are. They need shoots coming from nodes to continue growing and they almost look just like a few fan leafs but I could be completely wrong I just canāt tell by the pictures.
Ah dude they totaly are leavesXD hahahahah
Ok, what am I looking for a ānodeā. Brand new to this, just wondering if those would sprout, but if they wont Ill check them and use the gel for tomatoes. Does the node mean the split where the new leaves form in the corners?
Ok cool, thank you! Yeah these are way too little then. Ill use the gel cup for tomatoes. Worth a shot if they were bigger tho.
Ah, those look like straight up leaves to me?? Now, I have rooted leaves beforeā¦wonāt ruin the surprise, but you can do it.
Shit, Iām slowā¦
Iām sitting here, honestly laughing my ass off off at those leaves, and trying not to be a dick and just go ā!!brother, your rooting leaves!!!ā But honest to goodness, itās said with great jest my friend. But it still funny as fuck.
No worries man, Iām so frickin new to this, i never know until I ask. Iāll be watching for those ānodesā now.
Only reason itās so damn funnyā¦I did it, many many years agoā¦lmao and trust me, they will root.
So just a really fancy set of leaves is what Iāll get? Lol. Oh well, shits and giggles, gotta try everything once.
Yepper, but they will live for an incredible amount of time, and get a rootball like no otherā¦lol. Itās like, how the fuck can this thing be 12 months old, have a 1 pound rootball, and be this piss ant leaf still !!!
Along long time ago, I would float leaves in my tank, the fish loved the roots. No joke, those leaves produced roots for years.
That gel medium is agar. Maybe ok for starting cuttings, but hard to keep clean, so Iād say toss it after one use. As others noted, clip just below a node and trim until you have the node and a leaf branch. A single leaf is all you need to power the node - but the node is all-important to create more nodes and a full plant.
