Plant sex is set by their genetic makeup but the expression of the plants sexual organs is delayed in cannabis… It is this difference between genetic makeup and visual expression that causes perceived issues due to the limitations of language and the lack of a commonly agreed upon glossary of terms between individuals.
quick update: gojis seemed to have stopped producing nanner clusters. i wish i had been more vigilant i could have minimized most of the damage
will post again before chop
week 6
skinny one (very pregnant)
rest of gojis
They reran the test, yes they still had original material from a couple months prior and replaced all the test I had sent in. I didn’t even hove to retest.
Made me fill good it wasn’t a female herming.
See your point . I grow, and always have, indoor in a well controlled environment.
My temps humidity wind n airflow are constant as is lighting . I ran 2 full packs of her , forgot how many ladies , saw zero sex confusion .
But that is not unusual, for me at least . I do not think I have ever had an intersex plant in any of my runs . Going back to mid 70s .
Had many mutants , giants , hybrid vigor, runts and just fucked up plants but never a boy girl .
Seems strange to me as I see them fucking everywhere. Not like I don’t run a shit ton of plants cause at times I do . You would think I’d see some .
I have run 3 “ herm prone “ plants from cuts still not seen it .
Right now I have 2 in tent 2 of my run just in week one of flower . I put both herm prime plants up front , lol , to watch them . The Blissful Wizard supposed herms more than not so we shall see .
For years I thought I could sway the sex of my plants through my environment and here recently I find out that’s all a bunch of horse cocky because it’s determined the time of germination and I know that is a fact now all the time I wasted getting the correct temperature the humidity the lights everything all the voodoo and witchcraft all for nothing .
Lol
So from what I read here and anywhere else the herm issue is real . I just live in the Burmuda Triangle or something , and I hope I keep living there .
Since the 70’s, hot damn? Good on you, that’s impressive. Do you mean not even the occasional stray nanner, or just no full blown hermie? I only really started to understand the nature of our favorite plants tendencies towards hermaphroditism after I started stressing them out during breeding projects.
Well, yes and no, imo. I think you are likely absolutely correct that environment doesn’t change a plants sexual expression on a genetic level. But, it certainly does have an impact on the expression of hermaphroditism. True males will always be males, no matter what the environment is. Females on the other hand can alter there sexual expression in response to environmental stress. Provide the stress and you can watch it happen, or at least I can.
Lol, well that, or your a competent grower who keeps his environment on point:)
I’m just gonna toss this in there…back in the day we were breeding for Hermie’s. I was running a breeding op to create self seeding marijuana. It succeeded and the plants are all massive herms that self seed an entire crop, 40% more seed harvest.
You know how we did it? By combining the strongest most diverse strains, making super polyhybrids…I figure the plants couldn’t properly express themselves with all the genes in them so eventually the line became self seeding cannabis or super herms.
So, @Jetdro, I would guess you run alot of landraces or older type strains in your perfect set up. That’s why you don’t get any herms.
Edit: Another tid bit. This was a massive project and took over 10 years of non stop breeding…we had acres going full blast for 10 years. …so no need to be really concerned about poly hybrids.
Correct, not much for strain of the week stuff.
Oh ive seen nanners, just never a full on hermie. Think Kabuddha is correct. Not many poly’s grown here.
Thats changing right now, as ALL of the ladies in tent 2 would be prolly considered poly’s.
Lets see what goes on in there
Well then you should probably remove your name from the sign up for this F2 run so that someone who has more interest can get the seeds that would otherwise just be sitting at the bottom of your list.
I concur, 100%. I just had three Katsu Key lime kushes I kept, despite knowing that I had thrown out five other females that hermed, herm on me and spoil a whole grow – so its good to know what can be expected with these seeds. I won’t have any problem throwing these outside and letting nature handle them, but these gojo OG seeds definitely won’t be getting run indoors by me.
I recently realized one of the things I like most about theGoji smoke, aside from the sweet n sour og Kush nose and terps, it’s the potent gasp inducing exhale. Not a cough but, more of a take your breathe away for a moment thing.
My recent harvest was really tasty. OG/Berries and pine.
I’ll be running them no worries : )
I run a tight ship : )
Goji sunrise!
C5^^^
Apparently I need practice w my seedling game
Sour 91 x goji og
C5 Goji OG F2
C7 Goji OG F2
You’re killing it Cat! How is C5 doing. Her daughter/clone was a heck of a producer.
Hey man, I wanted to say thanks for fronting up the beans to do this massive run, I’m really stoked to have this big fat pack in my collection, and thanks to the growers too for all of their efforts.
I believe i have run 3 full packs of Goji, in Bodhi’s packs, not seen anything funky at all, other than the killer Bud it produces. I concour with Cat, except i love everything about Goji. Looks smell taste way she grows, all of it., One of my favorite buds. Why i love Orange Goji so much is Goji is pushing the 77
Goji OG F2 this is from my C7 pheno which was held back from the Co-op distribution efforts because of a few late season nanners.
No intersex issues w this one, wk 4. She’s got the frost creeping up her fans.
