Good people in the industry sharing the knowledge

Had a Visit at a local Hydroponics store today from an Advanced Nutrients rep today

As i have discovered here on OG, the seed vender’s i have encountered, and my local hydroponics shop, the people i encounter who are involved in the business have so far been very helpful and willing to share their knowledge. Not just there to sell their wares, but to help steer you in the right direction. The rep was very helpful and gave plenty of advise for my own venture into growing.

Of course he was also generous with free samples and some swag too…

Meeting people like this gentleman makes this hobby very enjoyable. Does anyone else have positive stories about people in the industry that have helped you and or steered you in the right direction with your growing practices, products, or were just cool people?

Years ago I contacted the House & Garden rep and told the gentleman I was interested in trying out their products and that I was growing in coco…

Long story short the guy sent me the complete coco line including the shooting powder for absolutely free shipping included to Alaska!

Must have been 9-10 different products…my favorite being the Roots Excelurator Gold and foliar nutrient Magic Green.

a while back a guy from mosca seeds (i think mosca himself)gave me a pack of bubblegum gelato fems after i gifted him some seeds he probably never touched. nice guy. i actually just put these seeds in solo cups and i’m only 2/6 so far. very small seedlings. it might just be me though, as i started and failed with my purple urkel s1s. i plan to run them outdoors if they make it.

I happen to run into a couple of Boveda reps at my local Hydro store this week.
Good guys!

Needless to say they were very informative about addressing a question or two I had and one I have seen come up on the OG.

Of course I asked how do you pronounce Boveda?

The answer I got was something like (I am summarizing, Please don’t quote me) everyone is aware of people pronouncing Boveda in many uniquely different ways and the pronunciation really doesn’t matter as long as you are saying Boveda.

Ya! I pressed further…and this is what I got.

Boveda is a Spanish word for Vault and is pronounced Click here for link
then press the speaker button as shown below.
boveda

Of course, I invited them to check out the OG. One of the Reps brought up OG on his cell and was checking it out for a minute or so. Hopefully one or both of them are all ready lurking here?

They also handed me some samples

Definitely was only getting good vibes the whole time.

I think @Bizzaro said it best…

Very cool AN has always been great to me. I’m SUPER jealous of that hoodie though. An epic score for sure.

On my first grow I bought a 125w cfl from a grow shop in Kensington market.

This bulb had an irregular sized base and I couldn’t figure out how I was going to screw the damn thing in without going to Home Depot and learning about electricity etc.

I mentioned this and the hydro guy just gave me the floor model base he had rigged himself.

Probably cost him $6 in parts but I was so happy to have a plug and play system ready to go.
