Greasy's Journal

I was thinking of you when I wrote that. I think it would be a good candidate for your indoor stealth growing

Glad I listened to you. Got just under two ounces of zkittlez buds that are definitely smokeable

Looks good to me mate, Zkittlez arenā€™t the firmest flowers anyway so Iā€™m sure it smokes greatā€¦ probably pretty cerebral affects with the clear trichomes. Nice day time smoke

Did you watch the Lowers finals?

Thatā€™s got some serious bag appeal!

Thanks @FattyRoots and @corey! I am surprised by how much sparkle they have in them with their early harvest. I didnā€™t grow much daytime stuff anyway this season, so itā€™ll be good to have something with more energy.

I didnā€™t, but I was watching the surfline cam up there, and it was huggeee! Thatā€™s awesome they lined up the contest with that big SW swell that we just had. Been a fun run of waves the past week or so! Hope you found some yourself!

Looks like the Norge is getting an earlier chop than I had thought. First sign of bud rot. Gonna take now rather than risk losing her all since she is so dense

Massive defoliation could buy you a couple of days perhaps. A little stress to boost the THC.

I did just strip all the fan leaves off. I think Iā€™ll let it sit inside next to my zkittlez plant for a few more days. I lost a couple buds to mold, but inside and stripped I can watch it closely. The tops have the right amount of amber Iā€™m looking for, but the lowers could use a little extra time. Good recommendation!

Excellent! I wonder if paper bags upside down over the colas at night would helpā€¦

Thatā€™s an interesting thought. It works on drying, so maybe it could help here. The cola on the left side of the plant is really thick and dense. I might just put a bag on it at night as an extra precaution.

This is my first time messing around with fungi. I am having so much fun watching this tub change day after day

What are you spawning?

I got 3 containers sitting outside with elm oyster substrate that I need to feed, I think Iā€™ll dump in a bunch of tree leaves.

These are golden teachers, mostly doing it just to see if I can. Not much a user these days. Assuming this continues to go well, I want to get into doing culinary mushrooms. Grow some oyster and porcinis!

Indoor Update:
Been applying LST and some defoliation the past week or so. Some seem to be taking to it more than others. Fed everyone some worm casting tea today, and will do a big worm casting top dress with some gnarly barley in a week when I flip. The SFV OG x Bubba is my favorite so far, such a happy plant!

Also starting some ak bean brains blueberry muffin x vintage blueberry to run outdoors for the off season

Outdoor Update:
Did some trichrome checks today, and it looks like we are just about there. I think Iā€™ll chop my first Northern Lights x Orange Grove tomorrow morning, followed by the Zkittlez on Saturday. Figure the 2nd Northern Lights x Orange Grove and the Sherbert Fallen Soldier will come down in about a week. Losing bits of bud here and there to mold initially caused by Caterpillars, with actual Bud Rot being pretty limited so far.

Northern Lights x Orange Grove 1:
Got a good bit of amber going. This was the plant that I stripped of all fans last week and is now ready for chop! Been losing more and more bud to mold everyday, so even though I would love to see even more amber for this strain, I think Iā€™m going to call it now

Zkittlez
The Zkittlez is clouding up for me! Want to make this more of my daytime smoke, so not going to wait for as much amber with this one. She also developed a case of Powdery Mildew that I caught very early, so I stripped her of all her fans, and sprayed her down. Iā€™m pretty darn tired of having a big ass weed plant in my bedroom and having to wear grow light glasses when Iā€™m in there. Taking her down this weekend and will find it oh so sweet to not have to dance with a plant anytime I want to put on a new shirt.

Sherbert
The Sherbert has surprised me how fast it has come along. It has held up pretty well so far against caterpillars and bud mold. I think it could probably go longer than next week, so Iā€™ll see how it goes, but Iā€™m going to be out of town for a few days, and think I may prefer to just chop a little early, than come to a plant covered in mold.

Northern Lights x Orange Grove 2
She is mostly cloudy with a tiny bit of amber showing up. I really would like to see her buds continue to swell. Marking her on the calendar to harvest next weds or thursday, but may be willing to hold out with her for longer if I think she needs it. I figure Iā€™ll have enough bud between all my plants, that it might be worth waiting for a smaller amount of higher quality than continuing to pull all my plants on the early side

Thanks everyone for following along! Here is hoping the next week goes smoothly, and Iā€™m set for bud for months on end!! Iā€™m really hoping 2022 will be the year that I only purchase dispensary bud to try something new vs. having to fill some gaps in between harvests.

Chopped and trimmed up the first Northern Lights x Orange Grove yesterday. Got some nice chunky buds. Not sure this strain is ideal for growing outdoors as the buds are really dense. I lost about 1/3 of the plant to boytris, but think what I have left is some good stuff.

Last shots of the zkittlez. Getting harvested tomorrow morning!

That came out nice! It looks like my finger would stick to my screen if I touched that pic.

(Now someone should be along to imply the reason my screen is sticky has nothing to do with it.)

Thanks man! This plant has been so resilient, Iā€™m stoked how she turned out. Iā€™ve been smoking the one I cut early and itā€™s actually really nice at only ten days cured, so I think this one is going to be great smoke. She smells amazing, actually like skittles and is definitely super sticky. Only real criticism of her would be that her buds are pretty light and fluffy.

I lose usually 1/3 to botrytis every year, no matter what strain. Indicas fair the worst in Cali. Itā€™s just so humid this time of year. Iā€™ve even got fans inside my net that come on before the dew point and they still got mold. This is why I overgrow. lol
