Indoor Update:
Day 19 after flip. Did some defoliation and tied everyone down trying to maximize my space. The TK x Loompa Headband has really stretched on me. Hoping that the cross will give me some OG goodness as from what I understand that is an OG trait. Overall they are looking a little worse for wear than I would like. It’s so much harder keeping plants happy in a tent than it is outside, but I do appreciate that there aren’t any caterpillars in the tent, and that they won’t have to necessarily be harvested early for fear of mold. Hopefully every run I can figure out what they need a little more so that I can grow some real beauties like I see others do on here.

Outdoor Update:
These outdoor updates are going to be taking a very different turn now that the main season has passed. I figured I would try and utilize my yard to make a few seeds, and to test out the Pura Vida F2 S1’s that I made and see how resistant they are to herms, seeing that’s how they were made.
I am finding that this time of year is causing plants to show sex at an incredibly rapid speed! I have 3 AK Bean Brains Blueberry Muffin x Vintage Blueberry that I was hoping to make some F2’s of, and cross to the one Fem Blue Dream I have going. 3/4 plants are already showing sex at only 25 days since they broke through soil. I feel like I need to take advantage of this somehow in future years to sex a bunch of plants quickly for a tent run or something, or just make personal seed quantities by growing a bunch of small plants. Anybody else have experiences like this?

Indoor Update:
27 days after flip, plants are filling back in from their defoliation and really starting to bud. 3/4 plants seem to be doing better
My Tahoe OG x Bubba just looks terrible. Her side branches seem to be healthier than her main cola, but she is one sickly looking plant. I’m really just trying to leave her alone and see if she evens out, but she makes me a little sad every time I look at her. Hopefully the LITFA strategy will pay off after some more time.
Popped two Pura Vida F2 S1’s that I’ll let stay in the tent for a few more days, and then off they go outside. Have about 50 or so of these seeds, so want to test and see if they will herm or not before growing them again inside.

Indoor Update: Flowering 34 days. Plants are starting to bulk up in the buds, and getting some really good smells going. Dropped the light down a few inches to kick up the intensity and work our way towards the finish line.

SFV OG x Bubba. So far my favorite plant. She smells like pine sol, which I think is very promising searching for an OG high.
Birthday Cake x Chemdog. Has thrown two balls now, but I’ve been diligently checking her over every day, and haven’t seen anymore. Hoping to keep it that way. Been about five days since the last one, and two weeks since the first. She has some nice frost coming in on her, and she smells like an overripe orange when brushed against.
Triangle Kush x Loompas Headband
By far the stretchiest plant in the tent. Really long internodal spacing with really dense buds forming. Smells like a mix of lemon lime flavored drinks and menthol.
Tahoe OG x Bubba Kush. She is still sad, but getting a little bit less so. At the very least, the few buds she has are getting very dense. Still have a bunch of these seeds left, so I’ll have to give her another try. She seems really adverse to any kind of feeding and wants about half the water of any other lady in the tent.

Made some 10 mg lemon flavored hard candies in assorted fruit shapes with some tincture. I think they turned out well. Effects seem to come on faster sucking on a hard candy, must be more sublingual that way.

Yes, I always advise people to suck on the hard candies and not chew them.

Outdoor Update:
Working on my first trial run of making my own seeds. Went 3/3 males on my AK Bean Brains Vintage Blueberry x Blueberry Muffins. Have been taking off the pollen sacs that look as though they are about to bust, and putting them in a sealed container with a mini dehumidifier in it. Have started a few more of these seeds hoping to get a female so I can make some F2’s. Right now the humidity is sitting around 25% in there. Figure I’ll start trying to break them open in a few days to strain the plant material out, and then hold onto it until I have some females to pollinate.
My Blue Dream fem didn’t seem to get any stretch. She’s been sitting next to the males as they are opening pollen sacs, so maybe I’ll get a few seeds out of her? I popped a few additional seeds from @growinghigher Mendo Breath x Blue Dream and Mendo Breath x GMO that I may try and pollinate as well. Was overall looking for a blue theme for this little trial project.
My Pura Vida F2 S1’s are coming along. The smaller one really took a while to get going, but seems to be on the move now. I’ve been bringing them in to give them supplemental light at night hoping that I can delay their onset of flowering a bit. It seems like I can pretty much grow plants outdoor here year round, but will need to veg them inside to get them as big as I want in the offseason.

Indoor Update:
Guess we gotta share the bad with the good around here. 3/4 of my plants have now hermed 39 days after flip. Not seeing tons of balls, but enough to where I’m a little bummed out with this grow. I’m still learning the ropes for indoor growing, so I am not assuming it’s the breeders fault. 2 plants were from CSI and one from Cannardo that have hermed. My only plant that hasn’t hermed is my cranky and sad Tahoe OG x Bubba Kush in the bottom right. I’ve tried taping over any potential light leaks in my tent, and I do have a small dehumidifier in the tent which has electrical tape over the light from the power button. I think I’ll take off the tape and cover it with black nail polish, and then re-apply in case that is the issue.

On the plus side, if most of your crop is already hermied you might as well just accept that you’re getting hermie seeds and let them grow out. 
At least you can still use the bud.

This is true, not going to cull anyone because of it. This is all just my personal smoke anyway, so some seeds aren’t the end of the world, but what I really want to understand is, did I cause this myself, or is it in the genetics? And if I caused it, what can I do differently moving forward to avoid?

Unless you have light leaks I’d say it’s the genetics. There’s a serious lack of testing going on these days unfortunately, everyone is rushing to get their stuff out.

I’ve plastered tape all over any potential pinhole leaks I see on the outside of the tent, and I tape the zipper covers shut from the outside and inside before lights off nightly. I even go out of my way to try and keep the lights off in the room the tent is in during dark period. I can’t say there isn’t a leak, but I’m actively trying to minimize light leaks.
I had been interested in CSI because I thought he DID have a testing program going on. I had read that he doesn’t release gear for sale that he has gotten herm reports on, but will instead give them out as freebies. I still have plenty of his seeds, but I won’t be buying anymore until I try and grow out a few more plants. It’s a shame because my CSI Sherbert fallen soldier I grew outdoor this season has turned out to be my favorite smoke of all my outdoor plants.

I agree Nspecta at CSI seems pretty legit to me too. Other factors like heat and humidity spikes can also play a part.
Certain lineages like Cherry Pie and Chems will always be a herm risk. Hopefully it’s just a few stray seeds in your finished product.

We’ve had combo swells non stop for the past few weeks, with offshore wind in the mornings. My local break down the street has been as good it gets a few mornings in the past week or so. My arms are like noodles! How about you?
