Oh no this is the right spot, just weighing in with my thoughts too :peace:

I haven’t flowered yet with it but so far it’s running perfect.
I’m seeing it as bridge between new and old soil batches while they’re being reamended and cooked and also maintaining my mother plants.
I’m not ready to give up my living soil for it but it’s got a place in my garden.
The price is on point.

I really like Megacrop for the most part, and my last run was start to finish nothing but MC and Epsom the whole way. The final product came out great, at least on par with what I would expect from past results with Jack’s, etc. My only issues were the sediment, which is apparently not universally experienced, and the mag being too low for DTW coco with LED lighting (also not universal?) and needing to add epsom to compensate.

I expect to end up using all 20+lbs eventually, lol.

Been following your thread and enjoying it, btw… :smile:

I love this stuff. My last grow was MegaCrop (some additives) from start to finish. The only negative thing I can say is it smells like shit. I am all in and plants are happy. I use 5 gr per gal from 2nd set of leaves till flip. Then creep it up through flower. I do think I will flush a little more this time. :cowboy_hat_face:

After spending several days sitting in the greenhouse, I’ve come up with this oddly pornographic photo :laughing::

haha. This is percipitate from a 3 gallon bucket of solution that was started with an EC of 1.7 and PH of 6.3 in a closed container subjected to light and warmth for approximately three days. No circulation, stagnant, enclosed container. I’m guessing that precipitant may be similar to what @Howard.Crane has noticed in his system.

I wouldn’t call this “scum”. It is very light and airy and does not adhere to the walls like a bio-film might. Easy to clean. No off smell. It appears to be organic matter that has congealed and precipitated from solution.

Additionally, there was a thin film that had formed on the surface of the solution:

I was expecting this but I could not tell if this film was biological in nature. It looks almost as though it’s mineral in nature and may have formed, in part, due to the noted stratification and PH differences. I don’t know, need thoughts on what this may be. Again, no off smell:

As noted, this tends to confirm what a couple of others may be seeing. In my case, the precipitation did not appear to be a bio-film, it was not slimy to the touch, it did not adhere to the container, it was light and easy to agitate, it was not difficult to clean, no notable off smells formed.

Test completed.

Yes that looks very much like what I have been getting, and your description matches also except that over time it does cling to the walls. It’s always easy to clean, and does not feel like a biofilm. I have been getting it even with pretty decent aeration, though. That area does tend to be warm, averaging around 75F this time of year.

My latest experiment involved wrapping the rez in Reflectix, and so far after three days I haven’t seen any of that stuff. I’m very encouraged by that. If that turns out to be the key, then it apparently takes very little light.

Thanks for the test and for reporting your results!

Hi @GreenleafNutrients is it possible to make a concentrated stock solution? I heard that it is harder to make a consistent balanced solution only weighing 2-6g at a time because of the varying particle sizes in MC. I mainly mix my nutirents in 2.5 gallon increments but I want to be consistent.

I came up with this and was wondering if MC can be used at this concentration.

150g MC to 1000ml Distilled/RO = .15g per ml

15ml(1TBS) = 2.25g
20ml = 3g
25ml = 3.75g
30ml(2TBS) = 4.5g
35ml = 5.25g
40ml = 6g

exactly, this is what we recommend.

Your math looks pretty good too!

Thanks for the speedy reply! Loving the idea of a 1 part nutrient with the occasional PK boost if needed.

I’m going to try MC in coco as that is my favorite medium to use.

Well all my samples and testing came out the same way, but a light dusting on the bottom , if shaken rubbed or swirled it would clump together slightly just like your pictures, the ones with the swab of previous sediment/res scum clumped a bit more, but would make sense if anything was growing in there “diatoms” but yeah just sediment.

Do you see any reason why this bag wouldn’t work?

The girls in my hydro grow are still loving Mega Crop. Ive been lowering the EC for a few weeks and Im now down to 3 gms / gallon with an EC of about 700 plus about 200 Cal Mag and 180 from my water = total just under 1100 uS. I need to lower it a bit more as my EC levels are still rising some.

They looked happy at an EC of 2100uS (Total) and still happy at 1100uS. Im very happy with this choice of nutes :slight_smile:

Admittedly I supplement with coconut water and Herculean harvest between feedings but damn!
The number of bud sites developing at an even pace is amazing.
I’ve grown chems for years and usually I’ve got a few yellowing leaves by now and lightly burnt tips,
What I’ve got now are near flawless plants.
fourth week of flower I believe.

I give my plants 6gr per gal when they get their second set of leaves all the way to flush. Love this stuff. Sediment doesn’t bother me. A swirl or 2 and it’s gone. Keep up the stellar work @GreenleafNutrients! :cowboy_hat_face:

I use cotton muzlin teabags but everything completely dissolves in short order.
With the budsites I’m getting I’m looking at a long stint in trim jail.
My exhaust fan hose came off and my arms got pretty sticky getting it put back together.
