Growing Mark’s Seeds

My big male Bubble Gum, had a very fruity smell. That’s odd for me to smell anything at all. My sniffer and taste buds are fried.
It seems like all have said, Mark has some killer genetics, just gotta flip some to 12/12. When i grow the Blueberry, that was gifted to me from a friend, I will definitely flip to 12/12, when I want to know what is what :v:t4:

Alright so let’s update this thread.

10 days in dirt and I have a miserable admission.

I’ve been killing seedlings left and right. Not purposefully. What’s been happening is I’ve been putting them into dirt too early, not letting the tap root get long enough or strong enough.

Only 7 of the 19 managed to make it up.

I made my admission earlier because I feel like I should be learning all the time and sharing my mistakes is part of that leaning.

Also part of learning is improving. So after assessing what my issues might be and some guidance from other growers, I tried a different but not so new approach.

Soak seeds in water about 24 hours

Once they show tails, they go into the moist paper towel, into a Tupperware and on top of my ps4, or router for heat.

Tails should be about an inch long before they are placed into rock wool cubes/or your preferred medium. I used domes over my trays for humidity and left them in top of my ps4.

I placed 13 newly germinated seeds into the cubes and prayed.

Here they are 5 days after germination started.

Looks like it will be alright after all :sunglasses:

I go against the grain and plant as soon as any radicle (root/tail) is visible. About 1/2-3/4” deep in soil. Approaching 100% success (for those seeds planted. Not every seed splits open)

I put seeds in yogurt containers filled with soaked Promix and leave them alone in the dark for 5 days.

Fewer variables.

Good, I’m not the only one that gets really leggy seedlings. Always seem to have one in every batch.

I had a problem with this and thought the same turns out dampening off is a thing I had no idea its pathogenic theres things you can do to prevent it clean containers new potting mix make sure they don’t get too wet also ventilaion and keep them warm
plant near top of container for ventilation reasons look it up i don’t kill seedlings anymore

I use an aerogarden to start my seeds exclusively now. I used to soak them in a shot glass, with a mixture of tap water and hydrogen peroxide and after I saw a tail, into the solo cup they went and great success that way, with my soil plants. My first Hydro grow, I did similar. I soaked the seed in a shot glass and when I saw a tail, I put it directly in a riot rooter, these fit better than the rapid rooters did in a taller shot glass, that was filled with water, that just touched, the bottom of the riot rooter. When I saw enough root coming out of the bottom of the riot rooter, to be able to touch the water in my Hydro system, I put them in net pots with hydroton and into the system they went. I had great success with this as well. Too much of a PIA, in my opinion.
Now, I just put the seed, directly into the rapid rooter, put it directly into the aerogarden, already filled with water, cover em with a dome, made for the seed pods and usually have seedlings above ground in 24-48 hours, sometimes a little longer. So much easier, in my opinion.
Once plant is established, I can then put them directly into the hydro system or directly into soil. The aerogarden takes care of the watering and lighting for me. I do have to adjust the height of the light sometimes.
That’s just what works/has worked for me. I hope that all is well with you and yours. Have a great day :+1:t4: :v:t4:

You may already know all this but in my recent experience…

I used rockwool like these recently. The issue I had was that it was so thick under the seed that not all of them were able to penetrate the rockwool. That was not good and they took a long time to get started. The next try I did better by watching and making sure the roots got into the tray.

The other issue is to make sure water does not bead up on the plants in the dome. That can lead to wilt and damping off.

Good luck and watching along with the rest. I have some of the LA Con among others.

edit- does look like you wrapped the seedlings instead of using the cubes with holes.

Hey, looks like we’re using the same small propagation trays! I got them a few weeks ago and I’m loving them! I got ones that are tall enough to use for cuttings.

Yes they work great for me and their sizes make them very practical for my space. I believe you posted them before and it gave me the inspiration to buy them lol

Freaky indeed! But very cool. Any fun smells on her?

Nothing too exciting, just a generic weed smell. Very slow bud formation with 6 weeks since flip on Friday. Looks like she’ll go 12 weeks.
