Growing on the cheap! Korean Natural Farming

So after fermenting for over two years, I finally filtered my pumpkin FFJ. Smells like molasses and vinigar, no mold or mildew.

I am surprised how long my LABs have kept going must be a year now, and they are still creating pressure in my bottles with probably only 10% mollases added to volume of LABs.

Gluconacetobacter kombuchae [2] is an anaerobic bacteria that is unique to kombucha . It feeds on nitrogen that is found in tea and produces acetic acid and gluconic acid, as well as building the scoby . Zygosaccharomyces kombuchaensis [3] is a yeast strain that is unique to kombucha

You should see some effects! I used lab at the
rate of one teaspoon / gallon on some garlic. Do you know if regular nettles work, or has to be the stinging type? Iā€™d have to walk for those to get enough. Soā€¦I have fish parts and brown sugarā€¦but no IM4 or OHNā€¦ can I still make FAA? I see yr pic for FPJ project. Lots of things growing your way. All i have available currently is grassšŸ˜£! Canā€™t wait for spring!

Can someone explain IMO collection in short? Whats the food source in the collection box? Are there any good natural sources of IMO i can find in the woods? Leaf mold maybe? Alsoā€¦ this shutdown has me looking for alternative sources of ingredients required for this type of growingā€¦ can i replace the rice? The brown sugar? Would maple syrup work? Some other grain maybe? I guess Iā€™m talking about LAB here regarding the rice, but brown sugar seems to be key, and Iā€™m betting rice has other uses in knf?

I used stinging nettles because itā€™s what there is here in quantity. I have read in many other sources that you can use comfrey, dandy lion. From what I have understood it can be also grass, but that would be a good source of nitrogen. You want to use the parts of plants as a base and source of what your plants need. Hope Iā€™m making senseā€¦

Havenā€™t used the labs yet.

You could always plant flowers or use fruits indigenous to your area.

Do you have a dehumidifier? Itā€™s a rather effective way of gathering bacteria

I made mine by using white rice soaked for 24h in dehumidifier water. Strained the rice and transfer only the water into a clean jar covered with a cloth so it can breathe. After some days I used 1 part of this water to 9 of milk and let the magic happen.

Cultivating nematodes by using a Petri dish with vents
Place a live mealworm in petri dish and pour in some water inoculated with neamatodes ( not enough to drown the mealworm )
Wait till mealworm dies and turns dark in colour , then bury in soil
Mealworm will explode soon after with hundreds of fresh new neamatodes getting to work in the soil

I havenā€™t tried this yet but sounds fun lol

Oops , probably better if that was somewhere else as itā€™s not really knf : )

Sort of in the same fashion as KNF in that youā€™re using nature for natural reactions.

Nice link to @hempyfanā€™s paper. Itā€™s one of the most exhausted sources Iā€™ve ever seen. Heā€™s got the cycle of life in there. I put that at the very top of my bookmarks a long time ago. Iā€™m about to start using it more myself now on my place. Iā€™m slowly getting there.

How have you been bro? I never see Justcozz anymore. I stop in over there but Iā€™m over here more. peace

Sounds like I need to get back into it. I remember browsing through it and hitting special areas, and loving the vibe he added to it. I need it for my whole place. Iā€™m going to rely heavily on it for a roadmap. peace
