I’ve got a good supply of stinging nettles about a half-mile from the house. I have to go halfway down the mountain to get them tho. No worries because I do believe it’s worth it. I happen to have some comfrey growing and well-established. I’m just raring to go with this new style and it seems like it’s going to take me the whole summer just to get prepped. What parts of knf will I be able to do this summer? when I do the fermentations of the plant parts do I need IMO or any of the other more advanced ingredients? with the fish amino acid that I’m trying to make I know I don’t need to add the Imo. The other ingredient I have to add. I can’t remember what it is just now. I suppose I was just looking for some shortcuts or quick things I could do to get rolling with this style until I’m established. More snow in the forecast for tomorrow so IMO will have to await next weekend

Absolutely😊 thankyou.

Consider collecting some of those stinging nettles and bring some seeds and then grow them in your growing grounds. It is said that their pollen improve other plants aromas including cannabis.

That’s a good idea. I have lots of different nettles around here and just need to look into it closer. I sometimes confuse nettles with thistle. I should have all I can use once I ID them, which I’m going to do now. I live in a very rural area with mountains around my house and to the west, and the plains just to the east.

I just heard the term KNF for the first time from @ReikoX this morning, didn’t think I would love it this much at that time …

I have been reading and watching videos about KNF all day, the more I read the more deeper I fall in love with KNF…
And now I’m happy I’ve found this thread too…
Will definitely try this method…

Do I need raw milk to make LABS? Or can I get away with organic pasteurized?

The food co-op near me is closed (only place with raw milk)

Both work. I’m making some right now.

If anyone reading this wants to make this as well, I’m following this: How to Make Lactobacillus | Probiotics | Growing Organic

I downloaded the Cho KNF packet, as well as the JADAM manual. They’re both freely available, neither is perfect, or even very well written, but the content seems to be rich.
I spent the last few days reading, cross referencing, and scaling recipes from 100’s of gallons, to indoor-volume inputs, and I think I’ve got a resource that will serve me well in my upcoming tent adventures!

Unless you are planning on using it a lot just use a couple of liters of milk, I made some with 6 liters of milk and it lasted me nearly 3 years, using it a lot. I even used it to bring down the PH in my water 3 times a week lol.

Edit, you can also make it with brown rice and pink rock salt, it doesn’t smell as bad and it’s not so messy as milk. It only takes a couple of weeks to make as well, as the bacteria is on the brown rice, so you need to use organic brown rice.

I feel that. My first batch my 6 years old now🤣

Some surfacants are antibacterial against gram positive bacteria, which LABS is. I’m not sure if Yucca fits in that category though, I would like to find out lol. I’m always dealing with hydrophobic soil…

Regular whole milk should work. I saw someone ask the same question on FB and they said that they are spending extra money…

Aloevera is a good suffacant as well as being antibacterial, and good for hydrophobic soil. It has a tremendous amount of benifits for a soil grow. Also good as a rooting hormone for clones.

Helps the human gut as well if you use the gell in the leaves in a smoothy, just avoid the yellow latex stuff that leaks out when fresh cut.

Can I pick your guys brains?

So my part of the state is overrun with Japanese knotweed. So much so that (Believe it or not) large swathes go untouched/never have been sprayed with pesticides. Would you consider this a good source for FPJ?

Alternatively, what about bamboo? I have a few friends with 20 foot tall forests. Both plants seem vigorous enough to at least be considered…
