Inspired by @Soiltech over the weekend,
I had some over ripe organic bananas and some trim from a defoliation session. Got up this morning and started a few new inputs

My first canna FPJ did not work out very well. Only managed to get a few drops. I don’t think I mixed the materials properly the first time so this time I really worked the sugar in the leafs until it was quite moist.
Seems to be working much better already this time.

To cover the material with liquid has always been best in my experience. Leaf/Blossom/Fruit doesn’t matter, it molds when exposed to air as it decomposes. Ferment occurs in liquid. IMHO
I put a stone in strainer on top of plant material to hold under liquid.

A double bagged ziplock full of water will serve this purpose as well, and it takes the shape of the container, if you don’t have a stone the right size

What is the liquid @Astrodude?
I thought I was to use only brown sugar and the plant material and it doesn’t get that wet by just mixing it.
Am I missing something?

Damn, I made banana bread with my overripe bananas.

MmmmMmm also a good option!

Last time I made Canna FPJ I used a stone to compress it a bit and also weigh it down to get more juices to express, this way the whole thing was “submerged” so to speak.
I have made it without a weight on top and it gets dry fairly quickly and doesn’t yield much FPJ.

Some plants are so filled with moisture it doesn’t really matter; an Aloe FPJ for instance, or even banana and other soft fruits don’t need a weight or stone generally.

That makes sense, thanks @taiga!
My last one was hard as rock when I tried the straining process so it deff dried out.

OOh I like that Idea!

No problem!
Been messing with knf on and off for a couple years still learning lots and happy to share info!

I can’t remember if this has already been posted or not but I had a great spreadsheet at one time that had nutrient contents of a bunch of common plants. I can’t seem to find the actual excel file But I do have a screenshot of it.

The source link at the bottom is broken too unfortunately

You could be experiencing the effects of H.pylori

Wiki is what it is… but the info there is pretty accurate. If you do have it avoid acidic foods as it wil only produce more amonia. A very simple test can be done, all you have to do is blow into a bag and the levels of ammonia will tell if it’s present or not (lab will do this of course)

this is a super helpful chart. Thank you. Just getting into KNF and this will come in handy. Going to try and make labs, ffj, fpj.

Whoa wait @BeagleZ did it start doing that just from you putting something in there to weigh it down? Or did you add water too?

No water, just the weight. I did mix it by hand pretty hard before putting it in the jar though. It was pretty wet from that already.
Might appear a little more wet than it actually is in the pic. I’ll get a better shot when I get down there. Looks super green so far

Nice, I was curious how that was gonna go after your first post about it. Gotta try that this summer, we get overrun with clover in our yard every year so I’m thinking I need to make some clover ferments
