Growing with kids in the house?

Eff yeah, my O³ genny kills cigarette smoke in the bedroom.

This is exactly what I do. I have a lock on my workshop. When asked by the kid (10) or her friends, I simply say I keep my tools, beer, and chemicals in there (all true). It is pretty easy to keep the smell in check indoors.

If you are going to grow outdoors, I would

Just ask yourself if it is really worth it. It would really suck to get arrested for a plant.

Good advice.

@GMan that’s crazy that’s exactly where I’m at! Lived in Gautier when I first moved here then moved up to the Hurley area. It’s a big change from Arizona. Ya Louisiana legalized medical, I heard the first cannabis festival is coming this year! Oh so that’s what guerilla growing is!! Literally across our dead end street is a river system they powers a power plant so it’s all county property and woods. Once in a RARE while the county mows the grass along the river sides but that’s about it. Only concern of mine is my son and the neighbor kids like to go walking and exploring out there( they say they don’t, but I’m not dumb I know they go out there…cuz that’s exactly what I would do at 12/13 yrs old. I found comfort waiting for legalization. I’m perfectly happy using our grow tent for our vegetables. So I still get my growing fix and the practice for when the day will come!

Very cool. Did you get your King Cake for Mardi Gras? There was a place somewhere in Moss Point that sold some of the best I ever had. You can get them shipped, too from online. People freak when they see how much they cost but man if you get the real deal it’s worth it.

I grew up in Bama and we grew up in the woods. Your kid and his friend may already have a grow going over there… lol. Hope I don’t get you worrying. Heh. The south is the easiest place to hide a plant in plain site.

How’d you end up in Mississippi fro Arizona? That’s almost polar opposites. The only thing the two have in common is it’s hot. Man, I miss that seafood fro there though. That place had some of the best places before all of the casinos came to Biloxi. It was a very charming beach area before that. I used to go down and buy shrimp right off of the boat somewhere around Gulfport I think.

…that´s exactly ,why i had to stop indoors! there´s no space to hide the tent…

I use fresh linen. It’s plugged in at my front door to create a smell buffer to prevent leakage into the hallway.

Might just be for my peace of mind - but works.

I got tired of the dry weather in Arizona. It rains once a year, hardly any good natural creeks or rivers, just brown dirt everywhere! So like you said I went for the polar opposite. And best of all I can garden and have real grass in my yard🤪
Ya the seafood is great out here, the restaurants on the coast in Biloxi, you said it all Gman! Not to mention all the infinite fishing/boating places to go! I’m loving it here. And…go figure, the county is reworking the reservoir along the tree lines where I put my plant!! I’m sure it will get spotted cuz when your sitting on a bulldozer or tractor cutting the grass, they’ll get down close to the tree line…to pick, or not to pick. That is the question. It’s been budding for about a month now. The top hairs are turning amber and look close but the lower internode buds are still white.

Yeah that’s pretty cool man. I got to take my dad’s boat(not a big one) out to the barrier islands when he lived there. It was Ship Island or Horn Island. Great fishing everywhere. I love all those towns for something. Mobile is awesome for food and music. Pensacola has the best beach in my opinion. Check out 92zew.net. It’s a private station for 30 plus years and is one of the coolest stations anywhere. New Orleans is worth the visit for its uniqueness. Thanks for kicking up all of my memories. That’s a laid back place to live down there. Go to the causeway across the Mobile Bay to the Original Oyster House. Get some Crawpuppies. They’re hush puppies with crawfish meat in them and served with Remoulade sauce. Not to mention everything else on the menu. Man, I need a vacation down south. Enjoy! peace

Years ago when my kids were small they asked me about the plants. So I told them they were tomato plants. A month later it was " so where are the tomatoes". Told them to be patient. lol Then one day my oldest comes running into the house yelling "Dad. There’s a skunk in the yard! Kids can really put you on the spot. haha.

November 1st I harvested a Sweet Skunk plant from a gorilla spot. I brought it in the back door and hung in my grow area. Then went into our kitchen where I was informed from my wife and son that there was a skunk outside…lol. And I needed to bring the dogs in!

My daughter loves helping test ph and ppm and mixing nutes…I just let her toss around a 2 litre bottle with maxibloom and warm water.

Mine likes to use the scissors to help me cut up the unused clippings that I compost in my outdoor plot! As soon as she gets a bit older I will see if she has interest in a worm farm. For now, she’s still a little heebee-jeebee’ed by the creepy crawlies

The worm farm is a great idea!!!

That pic may be a good entry in the Pic of the Month Contest… it’s really cute. It reminds me of me when I have a plant in my hands with buds that look that nice. She looks to be admiring the fat nugs, lol.

My girl just turned 5. She was interested in my plants so I bought her some strawberry plants she can tend to to be like daddy. We are in a legal state. She already calls it “medicine smoke” which is what grandma called it when she got caught. She told me the other day that she kinda likes the smell of “medicine smoke” after finally catching me :joy:. Reminds me of myself as a child, “Why does it smell like the Country Fair in here?” OCF fam knows what I’m talking about.
