Hash Making Revisited

How low a temp do you think you can go whilst pressing the fresh frozen hash , for the 25 micron rosin bag to function properly kind off , just generally speaking , not strain related ( is 64c the magic number ? )
And the minimum pressure needed with that low temp for the bag to function also , with the fresh frozen hash ?

I just copy and paste it from online sources, that way I don’t have to try and enter the code myself.

I think if I went lower, it would be hard to get it to flow. I never go over 70C or under 64, so I’m not sure what would happen. I use basically as little pressure as possible, slowly lowering the plates. If I increase the temps a bit I can usually increase the pressure as well, without any blowouts.

I find that the texture of the rosin varies with every different strain I press the consistency matters a lot because some of them I can’t even collect off the parchment paper it is so runny I have no idea what happens in that case it doesn’t happen very often and it stays runny even when Frozen

Those crystals are up to 80μm long!

I’m starting to think it’s mostly the terpenes or something else in the rosin that glows under UV. It’s not the THC. Which makes sense, right? No phosphorus in it.

Hey @JoeCrowe !

Any tips on removing seeds for a fresh frozen run?

I have a lightly seeded plant I’m excited for the beans but also considering running most of it as fresh frozen so I figured I’d check if you have any tips to accomplish both a seed harvest and fresh frozen run?

I’m thinking watch some movies with gloves on and go to town but there must be a better way!

Ayooo found a nice hash plant I think. Caramelicious. Need to get my hands on more flower from it but a decent return for a small test batch. Lightest color I’ve had yet. Made purple water as well.

I never save the seeds, but you can probably extract them from the water afterwards and sprout them. No reason to think the cold water will snuff them out.

You make a clone of that plant?

Sure did! Everything I grew in the greenhouse was cloned. Slowly making my way through the plants. Freezer is stuffed full

It’s a really good looking batch, not even much plant fiber in there. If it’s got phenomenal flavor, it’s definitely a winner heh heh. Weigh and run a larger batch, then you’ll know the truth. Good producers can easily double the hash output of a regular plant.

ok I’m going to push through a run of 742 grams of big bud. It’s actually less than that because of the bags it’s in. I’d put it more at 700 grams of wet green buds. Now, these buds are going to pound out the hash, not like that run I just did with a kilo of freeze dried weed. That was a bullshit run, I’ll get more hash out of this one. I really cleaned the bags, and dumped all the residual powder outside on the ground. Don’t wanna be dabbing no particles of organic debris… like botrytis cinerea.

Get to work so I can see that hash!

Are we there yet : )

Almost! The bags weigh in at 34 grams, so we’re talking 708 grams of wet bud in, and in a week we’ll know what the dry weight is of the hash. I can estimate in the meanwhile.

I got some plant material in there for sure. I’ll be a little more careful on the prize winning batch

I probably got just a few grams more on this run. The freeze dried run seemed just a little smaller… but watch when I weigh them they’ll probably be the same, hah hah!

Great color @JoeCrowe

Thanks! In a few days the green won’t be as obvious. I wasn’t careful pulling the bags I went fast and hard… splashing a little extra plant fiber into the 90 bag.
