Sorry ya left them cuttings set so long in the fridge before dropping into the plugs⌠hate to hear youâre losing so many! I stopped shipping anymore until this fall, if at all. No idea how many of the strains will even be available if I DO ship anymore, since weâre thinning things down for smaller numbers. Less work on Rose, since sheâs doing all the work nowadaysâŚ
Hey JP, thanks for stopping by! I figured it might be awhile until snips are available again. Thatâs one more reason Iâm kicking myself over this. Itâs my own damn fault for losing so many. On top of it, I feel so bad for losing the AF1. Other members were asking for it and I canât help but feel that I prevented it from going to someone who needed it more than me. Honestly, I almost didnât want to share any of this in case it changed what you think of me!
My first clones ever are from Paps, and the way he packed them it was safe to store them in the fridge for a few weeks. So thatâs what was in my head. When I received the snips from you it didnât cross my mind how the moisture will affect them. Truthfully, when I ordered them I had every intention of getting into plugs within a day. The timing unfortunately lined up with life stress, so I held it off without thinking through what might happen.
On a positive note, Iâm happy with all of the ones that are showing roots! And Iâm optimistic that a few more will pull thru. Iâm really looking forward to making mother plants out of these when theyâre big enough!
Then I can practice killing all the clones I want! Which is none
Thatâs good for her! I hope it means more quality time the two of you get to share together. And maybe some fun days riding around in that new truck!
Honestly brother⌠I donât think less of you for this! Iâm just sad to hear it, was all. Shit happens⌠to us all!
Ainât that the truth!
Some days Iâm waiting for it to roll away downhill, other days Iâm scared to look up to see whatâs coming down
Managed to snap some root pics when I checked on the clones. Progess!
Grape Pupil, first to show and going strong
Fruity Pebbles, getting fuzzy roots
White Rhino - enormous growth! This morning it was one tiny spot, now itâs all this
Vortex, coming in with a big surprise! First signs from this one. Now I know at least one Vortex can make it thru
Great job with the clones @emeraldbullfrog I hope to pull that off this summer. So far Iâve found many ways to kill the younglings .
@Gadarien Thanks dude. I know you can do it!
Update time! Iâve been meaning to post more frequently here. That way the info will be more focused, not as much to dump all at one time.
Clones / Snips
Clones for the White Rhino, Grape Pupil, and Fruity Pebbles have all been in solo cups for six days. I think theyâre looking great. Most days I give them 15-30 minutes with the dome off to adjust to the humidity & temp. Seeing roots in the clear cups for all three of these - White Rhino is showing the most, despite being the runt plant that I almost killed off!
Pics from last weekend:
Exciting news from the other clone tray throughout the week!
@JohnnyPotseed Iâve got roots now on 7 out of the 8 strains. Still too early to âcount my chickens,â but this seems like a great success considering the issues I had with dampness early on.
- VORTEX already had one showing roots, well now there are two of them and both are ready for solo cups
- BLUE DREAM has one showing roots since early this week
- GDP is showing roots! Since tues or wed
- ALIEN OG is showing roots!! First signs poking out late last night, and it looks to be growing fast
- GRAN CHAMPAGNE (Plant B / #2) is also showing roots, as of last night! This is the first snip Iâve ever rooted after taking the cutting myself. Itâs been ~2 weeks, so I am hoping for signs from the others soon
I forgot to take recent pics of the clones, so below is the inside of the dome from Tues 5/28. Gran Chams are in the front with Lemon G just behind, and you can see the tops of the Vortex snips just behind those.
More updates soon, aiming to add more throughout the day as I have time. Lotta great stuff happening at EBF âFarmâ since last weekend and I am excited to share with you all.
Thank you for stopping by my lily pad and hanging out for a minute!
Plants
Below: the view from my smoke spot last night
Canât believe how crowded itâs getting in there. I had to move those yellow sticky traps after I lost part of a leaf to one of them.
@Papalag Here are those Cayo Hueso
The two that are in solo cups would be taller, but I did some LST very early on when they were in the mini grow bags
The biggest Cayo. Iâm thinking about taking snips from her soon, partly to help cut down space in the tent.
This plant has about the most satisfying branch structure out of any Iâm running right now
@420noob I donât know how I grew a plant that could make this rootball, but by golly it happened anyway
Wow that looks like 6 wks for me to look like that lol.
Youâre spot on! Itâs been just over six weeks from seed for this one.
Gran Champage (Plant C / #3)
This is my first attempt at supercropping. I think itâs a success.
Two weekends ago, the day of the snap.
One day later I noticed that I split the exterior of stem.
First attempt was not perfect. Which is fine! Thatâs why I chose to do this on a strain that Iâm running multiple plants right now - in case the worst happened then there would be two more Gran Cham plants still going.
This is all a learning experience. So much info is coming back to me after ten years away from growing, and itâs becoming knowledge as I put it into practice.
Fast forward two weeks, same plant
Here she is from this weekend:
Sheâs still in the same 0.5 gallon pot. Iâm impressed by the growth in two weeks! Sheâs straightened out a bit. From these pics she looks to me like sheâs grown halfagain her height (thatâs 50% growth to the math minded folks, meaning 1.5x taller in two weeks). Iâd imagine sheâd be even bigger if sheâd been moved up to a gallon or 3 gallon pot during this time.
Right now Iâm not aiming for size, necessarily. I am on no pressing schedule to get these plants to harvest.
(Still need to get a second tent for flowering - my plants became more ambitious after I joined OG!)
The goal is to grow healthy plants. The path to that goal is by learning as much as I can from the plants and from the good OG people here.
Hereâs the real money - closeups of the supercrop bend
These pics taken this weekend, same day as the pic above
Seeing it bulge out like this is oh so satisfying Like, to look at that and think âI did that - and I meant to do that! And the plant is responding well!â is basically a dream come true.
I am happy with this plant. Itâs a weirdo in my garden for being the only one with this shape. Not sure if/when I will be super cropping any others in my garden. Still itâs great to know that this is something I can do. This post will remind me that I have grown along with my plants.
Lemon G (2 plants)
@Papalag these two have been wonderful. No fuss, no special needs, just chugging along.
The two Lemon G ladies moved from solo cups up to 0.5 gallon pots last weekend. They were my smallest plants for awhile because I topped them when they were still tiny. One week in new containers and theyâre already catching up in size to everything else.
Lemon G #1
I love the leaf shape on these plants. A very soft sawtooth pattern, very feminine appearance compared to the rest of my garden. Most of the lower fan leaves only have 3 leaf blades, like this one pictured here.
Lemon G #2
#2 view from above
Rooted snips have all been moved into soil inside tiny grow bags. These are sitting in solo cups with a 1-2â layer of soil on the bottom. When the roots show through the bags I am going to fill the cups the rest of the way with soil.
To recap, thatâs 6 new rooted snips that are now planted in soil. The new ones are:
- VORTEX (2x plants)
- GRANDADDY PURPLE
- BLUE DREAM
- ALIEN OG
- GRAN CHAMPAGNE (from my B / #2 plant)
I am thrilled that all of these made it so far. The GDP, Blue Dream, and Alien OG all went through a rough time. At one point I expected all of them to die, so I decided to keep them to learn what happens as the plants go too far beyond saving. Turns out I was wrong!
Didnât have time for pictures yesterday when I planted them. Iâll try to get a shot later when Iâm back in there.
Snapped a few shots today
Two Vortex in their grow bags
Left - GDP
Right - Blue Dream
Bottom/left - White Rhino
Top/center - Grape Pupil
Right - Fruity Pebbles
The Fruity Pebbles is too tall now for the humidity dome. This afternoon I removed it and have it under a ziplock bag. Gave it some time alone in the fresh air and it began drooping after ~30 minutes before I placed the bag back over it. Will try again later so it can adjust to the tent humidity.
The cat could not resist the Fruity Pebbles. He was persistent about trying to steal a taste the entire time I had the plant at my desk
Watered & fed all of the veg plants this afternoon. Iâve been getting lazy about it lately and I let it go for too long. Last night the pots all felt light, but the plants all looked fine. Goes to show how quickly it can go from âmostly okayâ to âneeds fixed ASAP.â
Opened the tent to find Gran Champagne Câs leaves all drooping low, top flopping over Sheâs the one that I supercropped, and also one of the only plants that wasnât topped. So there was more to âflopâ compared to any of the others. A few others had slightly droopy tops but none as bad as the Gran Champ.
Didnât take a pic because I rushed to give water as soon as I saw it.
Iâll be watching that fruity pebbles for sure
Fruity Pebbles in still in the solo cup and growing healthy. Getting to be almost 2ft tall and growing straight up.
Also have a couple of small snips in a cup of water. Still waiting on roots both have the white bumpy pre-roots but the Pebbles is taking awhile
This summer has not quite gone as planned. Everything is fine overall. Plusses and minuses, mĂĄs o menos en espaĂąol. Trying to give myself some grace and acceptance that most situations are out of my control.
Didnât mean to take so much time away from updating the pad. I have felt fairly lazy in tending to the garden. My plan had been to have a flowering tent set up by mid-June, however that has not happened yet. Still running just the 2x4 âTuba Fortâ veg tent and it has reached near full capacity - sometimes almost bursting at the seams! Keeping everything in perpetual veg until I have a flower tent. Iâve had to trim down a few plants, and I may need to even get rid of a few after taking cuts for new mothers. Hopefully I can hold most of these until they can be flowered out.
Iâve really made things more difficult on myself here. And yet, part of me absolutely loves all of it and would maybe even do this all over again.
Seriously, this space is packed way too densely. Itâs been a big problem going on almost 2 months now. Itâs like a game of Tetris trying to put these back in the tent after watering. Weâve got branches intertwining with other plants, lower leaves unable to get light, lots of excess humidity (well, this is the Great Lakes region in the summer)⌠basically all of the reasons why you shouldnât run 10+ plants in a 2x4ft space
Take all of that and combine with a few heat waves, a penchant towards underwatering, and even outright neglect adds up to me being amazed that these are still standing and green.
Most recent pics, from last week.
The light is up as high as it goes unless I move the exhaust fan out of the tent. Note how close the tallest leaves are to the light. That would be Frankenstein, about 2-3" away. Sheâs even closer now.
Upward angle to show density.
All four corners have detachable âcup holdersâ that perfectly fit solo cups. Here at EBF Lily Pad 6 weâve got plants on plants on plants!
Using the middle shelf space to keep even more plants in cups & small pots. Top & bottom shelves are full of cuttings in water cups, waiting to take root (cuttings not pictured)
