How do you coffee?

Espresso machines can be really expensive. You can sometimes find a steal for a refurbed Gaggia Classic or Rancillio Silva online. I bought mine, and while it was a huge hit to the wallet at first, it cut down completely on my latte purchases, and manual machines are really easy to self service, so you can keep them going for awhile.

Grinders on the other hand, I have a baratza encore but have been coveting one of these babies. I really wish I could dial in the grind a little more to get all the notes from some of the single source espresso I have.

We just majorly upgraded our coffee game, after our grinder failed us and we majorly splurged on a replacement for our 10 year old coffee pot.

We’re the enthusiastic owners of a baratza encore grinder and a technivorm moccamaster kbgv select. What a night & day difference from what we had before!

Got a typical auto coffee maker. Fill it up in the evening in the morning just turn it on, which is just below the limit of movement for me when half asleep. Have a French press, but ehhh… In a pinch maybe. But if I want to taste esspresso here’s the ticket - shopping Can’t much easier. I grind some dark roast beans, put them in with some dark chocolate powder, put it on the stove and a few minutes later, in the cup add a touch of various creamers and suddenly I’m awake!

I just use a simple French press. Cold ro water into the kettle, into the press. Been using Kicking Horse beans. Teaspoon of local honey in the mug. Simple and delicious.

An old friend of mine got into the coffee business in Vancouver. He got his Q grader and has been roasting ever since, his shop is called Agro Roasters. He goes to South America and sources organic beans from small farmers. Theyre about supporting and fair trade. They no longer have a tasting Cafe but I’m sure you can pop into the new location and speak with him.

I have a simple $5 plastic pour over and I love it. I just buy a new one every so often when they get a bit old and “staled”. Much better than a regular coffee pot or anything else I’ve tried.

I’ve tried some high quality beans from an online supplier also. The flavor is so different. Some are sweet or fruity even it’s weird but good. But it gets expensive so I don’t do that anymore.

I bought one of these and I was so excited… but I have an electric stove top and it just didn’t work right.

If I ever have a burner top I’m definitely gonna try it again. The coffee seems like it would be sooo good. Espresso like.

I have one of these for camping. I’ve also got a DeLonghi cheapo espresso maker and drip pot.

I’m also not above drinking instant.

I mainly drink single origin beans. I enjoy all the complex flavors, and variety.

I decided to try a new roast called White Coffee. It is roasted at a much lower temp, and only roasted until the beans are a blonde color.

I’m having my first cup this morning. It is nutty flavored as advertised. A bit odd though, and maybe something that will need to grow on me. From a color standpoint it looks like a very light tea. It’s supposed to have more caffeine.

Last time I had instant was from one of those tube things filled with Starbuck’s. UGH! Tastes like old bath water. No purests here. We grind the beans and add all kinds of creamer so it’s almost like drinking a hot milkshake.

from a very, very, very far off distance!

regards,

“Chock-Full-of-Nuts” used to be drinkable. I think they put chickory(?) in it. Sort of like drinking woody walnuts.

I take my coffee with a hit of cinnamon, half & half, Irish cream, and 1tsp canna butter. Brand of coffee change to whatever is on sale between Folgers, maxwell house, burnt Starbucks.

We got a sample bag of some ethiopian coffee from a local coffee roaster. That coffee tasted like someone threw a peach pit into the grinder along with the coffee beans. Weirdest cup of coffee I’ve tasted to date.

Keruig machine/ but buy our pods at the discount store, so we get maybe 5-6 different varieties, as strong as we can find for me, and milder one for my wife.
I’m up early, never could sleep in, as my mind starts running, so I pull a mild one first, then up grade, until I have maybe 4-6 cups. I do drink some water, juice as I consume coffee.
Then about 5:00 pm or so, I’ll have one or 2 cups.
I’m one of those weird fucks that just does not loose sleep to coffee. Hell I’ve nodded off with a cup in my hands already!!
Coffee has had a crazy run in my life. In the 70’s, almost every where sold Bunn made coffee, and it sucked. Some places dishwater weak, others, 6-7 hours setting on the warmer, bitter as hell.
In the 80’s, we started to see coffee stores in the malls, but fucking crazy expensive prices, for a young man with a family. So we would treat ourselves with a pound of Blue Mountain, Jamican, and that would mosdef crank your amp. Like it had super caffeine in it.
In the 90’s, I had 3 coffee pots in my gang box with my tools, it was a must have on our job sites. My European workers, hated our coffee, so I’d buy expresso grind for them, they still bitched but would drink it.
We still, love our quiet time, beginning of the day, when we wake N bake, with a great cup of coffee, sometimes inside, sometimes outside on our now defunct gazebo on the patio, but it’s coming back real soon.
