Humidistat & cycle-timer ... how/where to get cheap? DIY?

I keep forgetting to ask…

There are 2 pieces of equiment for indoor growing that seem to be kind of expensive(I realize that’s very subjective  )…

humidistat
cycle-timer (adjustable, <1hour max)

it’s probably an app on a smartphone for all i know :older_man:

Available on Amazon. You’ll need to buy the probe for the TH10/TH16 separately.

All for under $20 and you get wifi/app support, loop timers and other features.

I would have an Arduino reading humidity from a DHT11/22 displaying the readout on a cheap LCD number display. You could then program it to operate 8 relays on any cycles or timers you want or even be controlled by the humidity sensor readings to make a humidistat that could itself have a daily cycle. Total cost about £15-30.

The sonoff products are arduino based, flashable, and the TH series have the I2C jacks built in for sensor connection.

But alas you need android/iOS to program them (easily)

They sound great, like someone actually thought about the problems.

It’s what I use MD brother

The th16 is plugged into a channel on the 4,ch pro r2 so my ammeter knows the full draw from the tent

Interesting, you can operate a sonoff with a 5v (to 24v) input…

This may adapt the specs on the device I am building. I planned to build a similar device with relays to operate mains powered devices. Instead, I may just have a lead to connect my device to a sonoff and operate that with logic level signals. Then I would just need serial outputs on the device to operate pumps, and an output to a sonoff to intelligently control more serious stuff.

You can indeed. It’s just easier for me to use an AC in for my needs. The plug sockets aren’t necessary just makes switching stuff out as simple as pulling it. Keep me posted if you run with the sonoff stuff. Guessing you would be flashing the sonoff although the updated firmware is pretty stable. For anyone else looking at this route

My entire tent runs on one socket

can the controller be programmed over wifi from a laptop or PC?

then i could do that…

Yes if you were to use an Android emulator like BlueStacks it would work no problem
