Well with several working on it , it would be a good group effort on saving it and breeding out the hermie trait .
I have the s1 seeds I made that got sent out today, as well as some of the pack from Sebring and the pack that seeds are mixed up with shiskaberry , so thereās multiple generations to work with.
Thatās a simple enough process. Look for a ātrueā male then look for a ātrueā female, take the healthiest/biggest/prettiest of each and let em at each other! lol
Might be easier said than done unfortunately; Iām assuming these were originally from @Sebring? If so, they were probably feminized seeds with a tendency to herm from the get-go. Sebringās 79MauwiWowieCherryBomb pheno f4 has some details. Complicating things further, some of the original drop of those MWCBs was contaminated with male Primate OG pollen, so weād have to be somewhat dubious about any true males we do end up with.
I figure if we can save it , we can then send it back out into the world with preservation
Thnx for the tip/info, a heads-up is always nice
Any males from the batch from Sebring would be aloha og . I didnāt have any males I had the one single hermie plant. So doesnāt that clear us from the primate og situation
If you can be entirely certain you didnāt have a MWCB/Primate (or Aloha? didnāt know those two were the same) cross in the first place, yep. There was only the one plant that hermed and self-pollinated, right?
It might to some degree, but thereās still the chance of an errant trait showing up. Forewarned is forearmed though.
Yup just the one . The plant grew same / similar to I believe it was @ShiskaberrySavior plant
But even with a outcross of primate og they can be bred back to mwcbp obviously would take some generations but its possible
Ok, was about to say comparing it to some of the grows in the thread might help. If the MWCB and the cross were distinct enough, and you can be pretty certain what it was, then we can be at least pretty certain weāre dealing with the pure MWCB genetics. Either way, even if we can only be about 90% certain itās pure, itās worth hoping for a maleā¦ because yeah, as you say, backcrossing is always an option. Better some preservation than none at all.
I think its worth a shot. Worst case is itās a bust and we end up with some good head stash right. Along with some fun and learning experiences
Pretty much, worst case theyāre feminized seeds of an awesome strain. Hard to lose too bad on that one, especially if thereās a decent chance theyāll herm and give us more fem seeds.
If you look at my grow diary thread for the strain I believe shakaberry posted a pic of his on there
I do believe it can be done rather easily, and Iām not one to shy away from a challenge, as you know. lol
I said it befo n I say it again, I aināt afraid o no ghostā¦er, I mean hermie
Itās only 104 post so not a big thread to dig through
Oh, mustāve missed it, Iāll take a look through it again after dinner. Getting a little late already, gonna go grab something now before itās time for bed.
As long as I know beforehand, me either. If Iām startled by one, I might get a little twitchy.
Look at post 55 of my plant and post 61 of shiskaberrys
Ok, looks like you knew about the issue and were keeping an eye on it from the start, so we can be fairly certain itās pure. Good stuff. Just takes a real male, and itās off to the racesā¦ funny to have it be the goal to get a male, and be disappointed in a full crop of females.
