Is it a green thumb thing? Are you an early riser

Maybe I’m just getting old… but maybe it’s been contagiously caught from my plants - the last 5 years or so I’ve found myself up earlier and earlier - now I’m certain of it, I’m up with the sun. I cannot sleep past the sun rising, I remember years ago I could sleep soundly all morning…

Don’t get me wrong - I love it because it gives me time to tend to all the corners…

Wondering if any gardeners out here still able to sleep in? Is this correlated to growing? I’ve found myself up earlier and earlier as my hobbies been getting more serious. is it just me? I’ve got a gut feeling many of us are sipping a good brew at the crack of dawn, up with no plans except to admire plants and start the day at the perfect pace.

I would give all my worldly possessions for a few extra hours of sleep at any time of the day, but especially in the mornings.

That said I am an early riser because I have a four year old alarm clock that likes to wake me up between 4:30 and 6:00 AM.

Yup, kid has trained me to be up early.

Probably also just getting old and circadian rhythm.

I like naps too :upside_down_face:

Is “green thumb” code for “getting old” ???

Once I hit my 40s, my sleep patterns changed. In my 30’s I was up till 1/2am, and struggling to get up at 7am for work. Now I find 6 hours is all my body will let me sleep for. So when I FALL asleep is as important as WHEN I wanna get up. Need to be up at 6am? be in bed by midnight. If I am unfortunate and fall asleep in the living room at 9pm? Yup, I’m up at 3am. And I fall asleep betwen 9 and midnight often lately, leading to that cup of caffienated goodness at the crack of dawn!

If there’s no garden going, I get winter doldrums no matter the time of year. I like having some things to tend to, and when they pay off like this plant I’m excited when I wake up and don’t feel stale and old.

The more I observe this pattern, the greener my thumb gets. In turn making me a happier person

Kids help keep that early to bed early to rise thing too they keep you tired af

Well it’s correlated for certain, feeling like a plant these days.

No matter how hard I try I cannot go back to sleep even, this morning it was just before 4 am… Doesn’t help the sun is up earlier and earlier for this summer season.

I’ve been blaming it on my plants - but maybe I should be thanking them.

When focused on growing its even tougher to sleep in. Am I right? Feels like I’ll never know sleeping in again…: which isn’t all that bad I guess… not complaining - just shouting out to all the others up early enough for early photosynthesis with their plants.

Where my early birds at? Got a feeling there as a majority here. Or at least when I’m sipping my coffee I’m thinking of all of the others doing the same.

Good morning and happy growing folks - sound sleepers and early birds alike.

If I didn’t wake up at least an hour before our earliest riser, 5 yr old gets up at 7-7:30, my day is ruined, no shower coffee is later gotta feed the plants in a hurry etc.

Pets are good too, they keep you in line. Specially the birds, ducks and chickens.

The more living things around you the richer you are.

I’m usually up when some people are just getting to bed. I enjoy the peacefulness that comes with the pre-dawn hours, and the rising crescendo of nature as the world wakes up around me. My average wake up time is between 3:00 and 4:00 am, although I do occasionally wake up even earlier than that. Not sure what caused me to start these strange hours, but it started at least 2 years before I started growing. But, now that I am growing, at least when I’m up at 2:30 in the morning on those super early days I can smoke some of the best cannabis I’ve ever had the privilege of smoking, instead of wasting half the morning picking out crushed seeds and stems from the brick weed I used to smoke

You clearly have never met my dog. Boxer / pittie mix, but lazy. He’ll sleep in, go out to go to the bathroom, eat breakfast then go back to bed. Every afternoon between 1 and 2pm he goes in the bedroom for a 1-2 hr nap.

Wait… Thats it, he’ll make sure I nap every day! ok, so maybe he’ll keep me in line with my age. ROFL

I’d sleep until 10-11am every day if I could.

Sometimes I’ll be half asleep for a week.

That’s absolutely untrue, my riches disappeared pretty much the same time my kid appeared. As he gets bigger my hope of future riches grows ever smaller.

At least I’ve been blessed with a good alarm clock.

Sounds almost like you’re joking, I fear you are not. @lophophora.ca

A rich life doesn’t always mean a life with copious $$.

I aim for a life rich with positive experiences. However a life rich with a fat wallet couldn’t hurt either…/ haha.

I guess it’s all about perspective in the end.

I thought waking up early came with age an having a uncomfortable bed but I think you’re on to something. Coming out the morning when it’s quite to check the plants, listen to the birds an take in the day, usually beats sleeping in for me

I’ve always woken up early. Even in college, wickedly hungover/still drunk I’d be up and at-em by 6ish or so.

I haven’t had a drink in a few years now, but I sleep very little. Bed around 9:30pm and up around 3:30-4:30am. The first few hours of the day are totally MINE, the baby is still asleep and so is the other half. I relish my few hours of total solitude and mental preparation for the day. It’s essentially the lowest stress part of the day, it’s like I’m the only person in my little world.

I would love to sleep longer, but I just don’t. I’m growing some heavy indica stuff hoping it helps
