Jaybeezy’s garden

I am so confused. Why was the weed in mason jars 4 days ago but now it’s back on the drying rack? Like the reason you use a jar or container is to hold the moisture in. Even if your tent RH is 60% that doesn’t mean the buds are 60% RH. Like over drying will make your crop taste like arse.

Also noticed you had trim in the tray if you’ve put your buds into the same tray as the trim that’ll also make it taste like arse. Flushing is 50/50 you will never get rid of the chemicals you spent months feeding to the plant BUT that said I find flushing does make a difference.

And a humidifier, have you been running that humidifier in your tent while curing?

FUCK MAN lmao idk I’m panicking i cleaned the tray my trim is in jars waiting to be made to edibles

My thought process was if the sweet spot is 60% my tent is 60% making it a big mason jar? I heard of people hang curing and thought kinda the same process. It’s only one jar the other jars are being burped once a day

Yes the humidifier is keeping my tent at 60%

i feel like you wanna go off  like WTF ARE YOU FUCKIN DOIN YOU IDIOT

I’m just lost at this part maybe overthinking

I shut it down! Lmao everything is back in jars I’m just gna wait and see

I’m just about holding it together not gunna lie

Do not use a humidifier during cure, never heard of a single person doing that and I’m damn sure that tap water filling the air will be affecting your flavour profile.

I understand why you would think that is ok as you’re keeping humidity right but I wouldn’t be doing what you’re doing. Put all the weed in mason jars fuck your trim your trim doesn’t need curing.

I’ve no idea what the state of your buds will be now tbh so Q&A time :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: How many days has it been off from the plant now? How long did it go into jars for in hours before you took it back out? How do the buds feel, wet, tacky, dry? Which would you put it at.

:exploding_head::exploding_head::exploding_head::exploding_head: i didn’t think of this maybe that’s why my buds taste like ass i had a humidifier in there during the dry but without it my buds dry like stem snap in half dry in 3 days

Working on a phone i have to go back and forth with your questions and look back in this diary to see when i did everything so i shall answer to the best of my ability

  1. Off the plant for 14 days dried for 9 days smaller buds 7 days which i think it was too early

  2. jarred for 7 days burping twice a day 1 hour in the morning 4 hours at night because the buds were like squishy wet i did 4 hours for like the first 3 days then twice a day for an hour. Last night i poured 1 jar out on the tray just to see

  3. The buds in the jars feel moist but lost the sticky but they all feel the same

Also i have extra jars lol so trim is just stored in extra jars I’m not mixing them lmao hell no

I think i lost my window

I think i was wrong for doing 4 hours and should have just Done and hour twice a day

Once my buds are no longer sticking to each other in the jar, with the jar 60 to70% full, I then stop burping. I just check them once a week to make sure no mold is starting, if they still feel too moist after 3-4 weeks, I take them out and dry a bit more and put back.

Most LPs use dehydration machine’s to speed up there drying and curing process same as used for making jerky.

Black Coles are sometimes caused by too much sulphur or the bud being too wet.

It’s going to take practice just like growing it, so long as your buds are not going mouldy, and are sitting in the jar they will cure, the 60% is the ideal, if it doesn’t happen, they will still be okay, just might take a bit longer. My weed is ok to smoke 3-4 weeks after jarring, but it’s a lot better at 3-4 months.

You don’t have the luxury of multiple large yields at your disposal, so you have to compromise, and use it when you want rather than when it’s perfect. It took me about 2 years of growing, starting like you have, until my yeilds were big enough to have overlaps and allow longer cure times.

Don’t beat yourself up over it, just keep improving on what you are doing, no one learns this stuff in 5 minutes, when you’re doing it on your own, it’s a skill developed from experience and practice. We can give you the basics and our own methods but your situation is unique to you, just like your grow.

Haven’t watched the links you dropped @cannabissequoia but I like jodfrey whatever his name is and Matt riot both good dudes know their shit.

The shadester is always bang on in my book but I think you’re right @Jaybeezy23 you have lost the window for curing already with it being 14 days off was definitely a mistake leaving them open for 4 hours usually if they feel too damp upon burping you can dump the contents out for 20-30 mins and it’ll be back to bone dry to then put back into the jar.

I mean I’d still try curing that shit to see if you can retain some moisture but chances are products already bone dry with or without the humidifier but we’ve all made mistakes bro smokes smoke at the end of the day so smash a phat nug in a bowl n forget your problems

On the topic of buds in the jars I don’t even burp for an hour when I burp so unless they’re as wet as when they came off the plant I wouldn’t try drying them out anymore. Once a day for a week when first dry to the touch possibly twice a day first few days but after that it gets less n less so from that once a day to once every 2 days once every week etc etc.

I don’t grow mass amounts as I shift product so either way I’m buying and I cure for a month every time some of the best flavours where I live because most here quick dry which you never want to do I honestly think that’s why it doesn’t taste great well that and the humidifier you’ve ran bro but like I said just chalk that shit up to experience try and rectify what you can while you can and the rest well… you’ll figure something out

Now that i understand the difference of drying and curing fully i see how @Explorer definitely wanted to chew my head off :rofl:

Thank you for the videos @cannabissequoia i gotta listen to the sound clip still but i think i got it controlling the temps and humidity decreasing humidity over a few months period.

@Shadey thanks for the words of encouragement! I have a medical card so I’m putting it in my closet and forgetting about it the idea of growing was to grow my own flower and buy things like concentrate or other fun things they have

I was definitely irritated with myself live and learn it sucks because i was definitely on the right track then tweaked about mold and left em open for 4 hours a day because i thought if they stick together they’re too wet

So I’m just putting in my closet and forgetting i even have it haha but it’s not a total waste cuz i can make edibles with it

But next time I’m going to get lil hygrometers to put in my jars not sure when I’m going to start next with the holidays comin up and me having to get a few things like a blue lab pH meter and re up 2 bottles of nutes

I was reading your post again i have some hope for two jars the two i didn’t leave out
I shouldn’t of left em open for so long for sure but i mean they’re squishy not crumbly and the stems don’t snap i can bend a bud in half and it springs back so idk

Might get lucky then mate ya might be able to cure out some nice smoke like ya say worse case you’ve got edibles.

Update 2 days of not opening the jars i opened one and got a pungent stank than tickled my nose with the after stank of grass…seems promising!

Oooooooeeee! What you’re trying to get rid of is that grass smell btw so the fact you’re starting to smell dank goodness that’s a good sign bro just don’t get over eager on airing the jars out too much or for too longer period of time. Quick drying will have ur dank tasting horrible because the chlorophyll(grass smell) didn’t get time to sweat that dirty shit out.

Yes sir! I just plan on giving them a smell maybe once a week now

just wanted to make sure i was headed in the right direction with smells i quickly smelt it and put the lid back on.

What i learned is if they’re sticking together in the jar burp probably 15 mins twice a day once they stop sticking together burp once a week If that and just occasionally check them out for mold i feel like I’d smell mold before i see it.

Im getting it guys  lol next run will be better 100% with everything i have learned from you guys and how to use the line which I’m very happy with the results and once i was back on track it was super easy minus me overthinking but I’m looking forward to new plants new obstacles and a better crop

Check these out. They may not all be accurate, but you can average them and mark the ones that are off.

Digital all the way. Dont think you can get analog ones at that price.

Takes all the guess work out of curing

Right on haha I’ll be sure to pick up a couple before my next run

Wow…I think I paid 12$ for 4 of those mini thermo/humid sensors. a buck a piece from Chine direct! And it even comes on the slow boat! :joy: When I was a kid… I think this would be illegal. hmmm.
